About the Opportunity
Lead infrastructure architecture and core platform development for the AI Native era, covering CI/CD, AIOps, observability, and monorepo engineering. Build platforms that support multiple programming languages across host-based and containerized environments.
Use platform engineering, intelligent tooling, and automated quality controls to enable developers and AI agents to work together, improving developer productivity, software quality, and production reliability.
What You’ll Be Doing
Infrastructure Architecture and Evolution:
Define platform architecture, technical standards, and roadmaps, balancing scalability, reliability, security, and cost. Lead critical component design, hands-on development, and implementation across teams.
AI Native Engineering Capabilities:
Connect code, documentation, dependencies, test results, and runtime data into usable engineering context. Expose capabilities through APIs, CLIs, and SDKs for developers and agents to understand and review code, run tests, and resolve issues. Establish task evaluations, output validation, and execution permissions.
Infrastructure for Multiple Languages:
Build extensible toolchains, dependency management, testing, and delivery capabilities for ecosystems such as Go, Java, Python, C++, and Rust. Use standard protocols and SDKs to support communication across languages, interface compatibility, and consistent telemetry, reducing platform integration effort.
Monorepo
and Build Systems:
Define repository structure, module boundaries, dependency policies, and code ownership to support changes across modules and independent service releases. Apply practices from systems such as Bazel and Buck2 to deliver incremental and reproducible builds, affected-test selection, remote caching, and remote execution.
CI/CD
and Quality Engineering:
Build shared platforms for builds, tests, artifacts, and releases across hosts and containers. Improve configuration governance, automated quality gates, progressive delivery, health verification, and rollback to shorten delivery cycles and reduce change risk.
Observability and Reliability:
Unify metrics, logs, traces, and profiling, linking telemetry to code, configuration, dependencies, and deployments. Establish SLIs, SLOs, error budgets, and alerting practices, and feed production findings back into engineering quality improvements.
AIOps and Automated Remediation:
Combine telemetry, topology, change history, and operational knowledge to enable anomaly detection, incident investigation, root cause analysis, and controlled remediation. Use incident replay, evaluation, and feedback to reduce recovery time and repetitive operational work.
What We Look For In You
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. At least 8 years of infrastructure or platform engineering experience, including 3 years in architecture or technical leadership.
Deep expertise in at least one of CI/CD, build systems, observability, or AIOps, with experience designing, implementing, and operating large production systems.
Strong knowledge of Linux, networking, distributed systems, and troubleshooting. Experience with deployment, configuration management, resource isolation, and production diagnostics in host-based and Kubernetes environments.
Experience building infrastructure for multiple languages, with an understanding of toolchain, dependency, and runtime differences. Ability to design shared platform interfaces and extensible language integrations.
Familiarity with open-source infrastructure practices originating at Google or Meta, such as build and dependency management with Bazel or Buck2, or cross-language communication and interface contracts with gRPC and Protocol Buffers. Experience evaluating, integrating, or optimizing relevant technologies.
Experience with automated testing, quality gates, and release engineering, using observability and reliability measures to improve delivery workflows.
Practical experience applying LLMs or agents to engineering workflows, including context construction, tool use, task orchestration, evaluation, and safe execution.
Proficiency in at least one of Go, Python, Java, C++, or Rust, with strong hands-on coding and debugging skills. Ability to drive implementation through design reviews, technical guidance, and collaboration across teams.
Nice to Haves
Experience at Google, Meta, or other leading technology companies, and a background in infrastructure, developer productivity, or AI Native engineering platforms, are preferred.
Leading large monorepos, build platforms supporting multiple languages, remote execution platforms, or enterprise developer productivity platforms.

- A point of view on social. You’re curious about what makes products engaging, shareable, and trustworthy, and understand how social experiences can create sustainable growth.
- Exceptional product craft. You bring strong UX and visual design skills, particularly in consumer mobile experiences, and care about the details that make a product feel intuitive and delightful.
- A bias for action. You’re comfortable with ambiguity, move quickly without sacrificing quality, and would rather test a thoughtful idea than debate it endlessly.
- Strong collaboration skills. You communicate clearly, work naturally with Product, Engineering, and Marketing, and can bring others along with your thinking.
- Curiosity about money. You’re interested in how people think about, interact with, and build wealth, and want to make that experience better.

- How you translate a strong product idea into an intuitive and polished experience.

You’re a problem-solver who stays calm when things get busy, asks good questions and wants to learn from experienced teammates.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Strengthen our incident response capabilities by building relationships with Engineering teams, writing new playbooks and automating manual steps.
- Own investigations from start to finish: triage, evidence collection, analysis, containment and documentation.
- Act as Incident Commander for low- and medium-severity incidents, and support senior responders on high-severity ones.
- Turn recurring incident types into repeatable workflows (intake, playbook, automation, closure), from the first design through to the tooling behind them.
- Report incident trends and metrics that inform team priorities.
- Work with our Security Engineers to monitor, refine and expand our SIEM and SOAR platforms.
- Work with the HR, Fraud and Privacy teams on investigations into potentially fraudulent and sensitive activity, including insider threats and snooping.
- Participate in an on-call rotation for responding to security incidents, internal questions and operational support.
- Work with the detection engineering team to develop new, high-fidelity detection rules based on incident trends and threat intelligence.
SKILLS YOU BRING
- 3+ years of experience in cybersecurity.
- 1–2+ years of hands-on incident response experience, owning investigations end to end.
- The ability to coordinate responders and stakeholders during an incident, and know when to escalate.
- Experience using a SIEM to turn noise into signal, including writing queries and tuning alerts.
- Proficiency with AI coding tools (Claude Code, Cursor, ChatGPT, etc.) to build and maintain automation. We invest in tooling (automation, Slack bots, AI agents) so responders spend their energy on the decisions that matter.
- A workflow mindset: you can look at a messy, recurring problem and break it into steps that tooling or AI can take on.
- Working knowledge of cloud infrastructure (e.g., AWS, GCP or Azure) and how to investigate within it.
- Discretion and sound judgment when handling sensitive information, such as HR and insider-threat matters.
- Clear, honest and inclusive communication with both internal and external stakeholders.
- Good judgment under pressure, in technical problem solving and in working across teams.
- A strong desire to learn from the team and others. We value making one another successful!

Manager, Data Science, Payments & Subscriptions
San Diego, CA
remote considered* (flex mode)
About the Team
The Direct to Consumer (D2C) Data Science organization brings together Data Science, Data Engineering, and ML Engineering to support PlayStation’s digital business across commerce, subscriptions, payments, lifecycle experiences, and player-facing services. We partner closely with product, engineering, finance, marketing, and operations teams to turn experimentation, forecasting, modeling, and trustworthy measurement into better decisions and better player experiences.
About the Role
We are looking for a Data Science Manager to lead a focused team improving how players pay, subscribe, and recover from payment failures. You will own the team’s scientific roadmap, develop data scientists, and partner with product, engineering, finance, marketing, and operations to turn ambiguous business questions into clear recommendations supported by trustworthy evidence.
This is a technically engaged first-line management role. You will review experiment designs, metrics, models, analytical code, and recommendations; help the team reason through uncertainty and business tradeoffs; and contribute directly to selected complex problems. Success means building a team that can independently deliver rigorous work, guide decisions, and improve payment and subscription outcomes.
The initial portfolio includes payment method performance, payment acceptance, routing and retry strategies, subscription recovery, and measurement of experiments and lifecycle interventions. You will help partners understand incremental value, customer friction, processing and operational costs, and risk guardrails. Over time, the scope may expand across adjacent D2C business areas as team priorities evolve.
What you'll be doing:
Lead, hire, onboard, and develop a team of data scientists supporting a defined commerce, payments, subscriptions, and lifecycle portfolio.
Own the team’s roadmap, intake, prioritization, capacity planning, and stakeholder alignment. Make ownership and tradeoffs clear so the team can deliver on its most important commitments.
Partner with business and technical leaders to define the decisions to be made, hypotheses, success metrics, measurement plans, and recommendations for action.
Guide experimentation, causal inference, forecasting, and modeling work that improves payment and subscription decisions. Evaluate business value alongside customer experience, costs, and risk guardrails.
Review experiment designs, analytical code, data quality, metric definitions, model assumptions, uncertainty, and recommendations. Contribute directly to selected high-priority or technically complex problems.
Coach data scientists to strengthen scientific judgment, stakeholder influence, and communication. Build independent ownership through delegation, constructive review, and clear expectations.
Set practical standards for reproducible analysis, documentation, reusable workflows, and communication of results. Partner with Data Engineering and ML Engineering to address data and implementation dependencies.
Communicate recommendations, expected impact, confidence, limitations, and next actions so partners can make informed decisions and evaluate outcomes.
What we're looking for:
6+ years of industry experience in data science, applied statistics, machine learning, or a related quantitative field, including work in experimentation, causal inference, measurement, or model development.
2+ years of people management experience, or equivalent experience in formal technical leadership with a strong track record of mentoring, coaching, and driving outcomes through other data scientists or machine learning practitioners.
Strong background in experimentation, causal inference, metric design, and decision science for digital products or consumer businesses.
Deep fluency with SQL and Python, with the technical depth to review analytical code, challenge assumptions, guide experiment and model design, and contribute directly to complex analyses.
Proven ability to prioritize cross-functional work and communicate clear recommendations, confidence levels, tradeoffs, and next actions.
Bachelor's degree or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in digital commerce, payments, subscriptions, billing, lifecycle, gaming, media, or scaled consumer technology businesses.
Experience with experimentation platforms, trusted metric frameworks, or reusable data science tooling that improves consistency and decision quality.
Experience managing senior individual contributors or helping data scientists expand scope, influence, and technical leadership.
Familiarity with payment optimization, subscription lifecycle analytics, subscription recovery, payment method selection, pricing or offer measurement, forecasting, or customer retention modeling.
Experience evaluating and improving AI-assisted analytical workflows, including validating outputs and preserving reproducibility and appropriate data handling.
At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.
Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

BUILDING THE FUTURE OF OPEN FINANCE
Payward - the parent company behind Kraken, NinjaTrader, Breakout, xStocks, Payward Services and CF Benchmarks - has spent the last 15 years building one of the most modern and globally accessible financial infrastructure platforms in the industry, built to advance an open, global financial system.
THE TEAM
Founded in 2011, Kraken is one of the world's longest-standing crypto platforms, trusted by over 10 million individuals and institutions across the globe. It offers spot trading, margin, futures, staking, and OTC services, with products built for both individual investors and institutional clients.
Kraken's Market Surveillance function is responsible for detecting, investigating and reporting market abuse across our regulated trading venues, spanning spot crypto markets, crypto futures, tokenised equities, OTC markets and consumer trading. As our licensing footprint and product range grow, so does the scale and complexity of the surveillance programme behind them.
We are hiring a Senior Compliance Associate Lead to take on our more complex casework, own an area of the surveillance programme, and act as a senior point of reference for the analysts around them.
THE OPPORTUNITY
- Take the more complex investigations end to end, including those that begin as a referral rather than an alert, and present conclusions to senior compliance stakeholders and the business.
- Act as a senior reviewer for colleagues' work, and a point of escalation for judgement calls on how an alert or a case should be treated.
- Contribute to threshold and model reviews, recalibrating detection as trading behaviour, products and market structure change.
- Support surveillance platform and tooling work, including setting out what detection needs to achieve and validating that it does.
- Draft suspicious transaction and order reports and suspicious activity reports.
- Contribute to market abuse risk assessment work, and help translate the risks identified into surveillance coverage.
WHAT YOU BRING
- At least 4 years investigating market abuse or trading conduct inside a firm subject to market conduct regulation.
- A track record running investigations end to end, including writing findings up to a standard a regulator can rely on and presenting conclusions to stakeholders.
- Solid knowledge of the core market abuse typologies and how they present differently across asset classes.
- Hands-on experience with a surveillance platform such as Scila, Nasdaq SMARTS, Eventus or NICE Actimize, and comfort with SQL or a similar query tool.
- Exposure to threshold or model calibration, platform integration, or market abuse risk assessment work.
- Clear, evidence-first written communication, and the judgement to know when something needs escalating.
- Based in the UK, Ireland, Cyprus, Canada, with fluency in English.
NICE TO HAVES
- Exposure to crypto-asset markets is welcomed but not required.
- Experience mentoring or acting as a senior reviewer for less experienced analysts.
- Experience of a surveillance platform implementation or build-out.
- Electronic communications surveillance experience.
Unless a specific application deadline is stated in the job posting, applications are accepted on an ongoing basis.
Please note, applicants are permitted to redact or remove information on their resume that identifies age, date of birth, or dates of attendance at or graduation from an educational institution.
We consider qualified applicants with criminal histories for employment on our team, assessing candidates in a manner consistent with the requirements of the San Francisco Fair Chance Ordinance.
OUR COMMITMENT
Payward is powered by people from around the world and we celebrate the diverse talents, backgrounds, contributions, and unique perspectives that everyone brings to the table. We hire based on merit, seeking out people with the right abilities, knowledge, and skills for the job. We encourage you to apply for roles where you don't fully meet the listed requirements, especially if you're passionate or knowledgeable about crypto.
We may ask candidates to complete job-related skills or work-style assessments as part of our hiring process. These assessments evaluate competencies relevant to the role and are applied consistently across candidates for similar positions. Results are considered alongside experience and interviews, and are not the sole basis for any employment decision.
As an equal opportunity employer, we don't tolerate discrimination or harassment of any kind, whether based on race, ethnicity, age, gender identity, citizenship, religion, sexual orientation, disability, pregnancy, veteran status, or any other protected characteristic as outlined by federal, state, or local laws.
