What is Grafana Cloud?
Grafana Cloud is our composable observability platform that integrates metrics, logs, traces, and profiles with Grafana. The Databases department owns and operates the telemetry databases that are
Mimir for metrics
,
Loki for logs
,
Tempo for traces
, and
Pyroscope for profiles
. We offer our databases as a Cloud service supporting Grafana Cloud.
Adaptive Telemetry Group
The Adaptive Telemetry group, part of the Databases department, has the mission of ensuring that all telemetry stored in our databases is worthy of attention. Under that mission, the group is responsible for the development of
Adaptive Metrics
,
Adaptive Logs
,
Adaptive Traces
and Adaptive Profiles.
Our Adaptive Telemetry solutions give users the ability to control and optimize their telemetry data. These solutions ensure that data storage is optimized based on individual usage patterns, so only the most valuable data is retained.
As a company we are remote-first and global, we embrace people of different experiences and backgrounds to build diverse teams where every person brings a new perspective to the software.
What will you be doing:
Drive technical strategy and roadmap.
Proactively define the architectural vision, prioritize work that unlocks major product or platform improvements, and influence product and engineering decisions.
Lead end-to-end delivery of large, cross-functional projects.
Own planning, design, execution, rollout and long-term operation of large initiatives.
Own architecture, reliability, performance and cost for critical systems.
Make pragmatic architecture choices that balance scalability, availability, latency and cost while ensuring systems remain maintainable and evolvable.
Define SLOs/SLIs and lead incident response.
Establish measurable reliability targets, run high-severity incident response, lead blameless post-mortems, and drive systemic fixes and automation to prevent recurrence.
Improve observability, automation and operational readiness.
Champion telemetry, alerting, runbooks, capacity planning and automation efforts that reduce toil, speed debugging and lower MTTR.
Align stakeholders and remove blockers.
Coordinate across Product, Design and other teams to align priorities, negotiate tradeoffs, and unblock delivery for large initiatives.
Mentor and grow engineering talent.
Coach senior and mid-level engineers, lead design reviews, raise engineering standards, and help teammates make sound technical tradeoffs.
Represent engineering internally and externally.
Communicate technical strategy clearly to non-engineering stakeholders and represent the team in cross-team planning.
We invest heavily in developer productivity. You can use modern AI coding assistants as part of your daily workflow (your choice of tools, within security guidelines), backed by a company-funded usage budget so you can iterate quickly without unnecessary friction. We encourage pragmatic AI-assisted development: faster prototyping, test generation, refactors, documentation, and incident follow-ups—always with strong code review and quality standards. You'll also have access to the latest frontier models from OpenAI, Anthropic, and Google.
What makes you a great fit:
You are a motivated self starter with a bias towards action. You are customer focused. We build everything with our users in mind. You have a passion for creating intuitive products that fit customers’ needs
Proven delivery of large distributed systems.
Experience shipping and operating complex systems that span multiple teams, with clear evidence of technical leadership and impact.
Strong systems-design instincts.
Deep understanding of tradeoffs around latency, consistency, availability, scaling and cost.
Hands-on cloud and platform experience.
Solid experience with cloud-native architectures (microservices, containers/Kubernetes, IaC) and the operational practices that keep them healthy.
Reliability and performance ownership.
Comfortable defining SLOs/SLIs, doing capacity planning, tuning performance, and driving reliability work end-to-end.
Excellent coding and design skills.
You write clear, maintainable, well-tested code and can lead technical designs — we use Go, but Python/C/C++/Rust or similar translate well.
Comfort with AI-assisted development.
We embrace AI and agentic development so we expect you to be curious and comfortable using AI-powered developer tools and ideally have practical experience folding them into a team’s workflow.
Experience with messaging and telemetry.
Familiarity with streaming/messaging systems (e.g., Kafka) and observability tooling (Prometheus/Grafana or equivalents).

About Anthropic
Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the Role
Anthropic's Infrastructure organization is foundational to our mission of developing AI systems that are reliable, interpretable, and steerable. The systems we build determine how quickly we can train new models, how reliably we can run safety experiments, and how effectively we can scale Claude to millions of users — demonstrating that safe, reliable infrastructure and frontier capabilities can go hand in hand.
Developer Productivity owns the end-to-end experience of how engineers and researchers at Anthropic develop, build, test, and ship code at scale. This role focuses on the configuration and experimentation systems that let teams safely roll out changes, run controlled experiments, and make data-driven decisions across our products and infrastructure — from feature flagging and dynamic configuration to A/B testing platforms that support both research and production workloads.
Responsibilities
Own the technical strategy and roadmap for config and experimentation infrastructure, translating team-level goals into concrete execution plans and partnering with teams focused on deployment, testing, and more
Maintain and enhance the architecture for feature flagging, dynamic configuration, and experimentation systems, ensuring the hardest problems get solved — whether by you directly or by working through others
Design and build scalable, reliable distributed infrastructure and shared libraries that support high-volume experimentation and config workloads across all engineering teams
Own and evolve the platforms and tooling that let engineers and researchers safely ship config changes, run experiments, and measure impact
Define standards, tooling, and frameworks for experimentation and configuration management that drive developer productivity across research and production workloads
You may be a good fit if you:
Have deep experience with configuration management, feature flagging, and/or experimentation platforms in a large-scale environment
Have strong proficiency in Python, Rust and/or Go
Are obsessed with developer productivity and reducing friction in how teams configure, test, and ship changes
Have experience with container orchestration and infrastructure at scale
Have excellent communication skills and enjoy supporting internal partners to improve their development experience
Are excited about designing foundational systems and are comfortable working independently on ambiguous, high-impact technical challenges
Strong candidates may have:
Have 15+ years (not including internships or co-ops) of experience in a Software Engineer role, building and operating large-scale developer infrastructure
Have 3+ years (not including internships or co-ops) of experience leading large scale, complex projects or teams as an engineer or tech lead
Experience with config or experimentation platforms such as Statsig, GrowthBook, LaunchDarkly, Optimizely, Unleash, or similar (including building such systems in-house)
Experience designing experimentation frameworks — randomization, assignment, metrics pipelines, and statistical analysis for A/B testing at scale
Experience with dynamic configuration systems and safe rollout mechanisms (gradual rollouts, kill switches, targeting rules)
Experience building CLI tools, developer-facing services, and APIs/automation workflows that integrate config and experimentation into existing CI/CD pipelines
Deadline to apply: None. Applications will be reviewed on a rolling basis.

How we're different
We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.

An overview of this role
As the Director, Strategic Partnerships, you will own GitLab's relationships with its two major cloud infrastructure partners: AWS and Google Cloud. This is a single-threaded owner role, reporting to the VP, Corporate Development & Strategic Partnerships. You will shape partnership strategy from the top down and drive execution from the ground up, this is as much about running the weekly grind of a partnership as it is about setting its direction, turning strategic relationships into durable business outcomes.
You will own the commercial relationship end-to-end: managing GitLab's cloud infrastructure spend and consumption commitments, and leading renewal negotiations for enterprise agreements (e.g., EDPs, MACCs, or equivalent) before they come due. You will also own the technical and go-to-market side of each relationship: driving product integrations, shaping joint go-to-market strategy, and connecting GitLab's product roadmap and AI strategy to concrete partner initiatives. This is not a co-sell, channel, or revenue-through-partners role. Success here looks like disciplined commercial ownership, technical integration depth, and renewal outcomes that protect and grow GitLab's position, not partner-sourced pipeline or quota attainment.
This role sits close to GitLab's evolving AI strategy and the future of our AI-powered DevSecOps platform. You will develop a clear point of view, represent these partnerships with senior stakeholders, and personally drive the day-to-day work that spans multi-year planning and weekly execution, chasing down blockers, keeping workstreams on track, and doing the detailed follow-through yourself rather than delegating it.
What you'll do
Serve as the primary owner and point of contact for GitLab's cloud infrastructure partnerships with AWS and Google Cloud, personally accountable for the direction, operating rhythm, and outcomes of each.
Own the full commercial lifecycle of each relationship: negotiating rates and terms, tracking consumption against committed spend, and leading renewal negotiations well ahead of contract expiration.
Manage cloud infrastructure spend as a standing responsibility, partnering with Finance/FinOps on forecasting, true-ups, and cost optimization across both hyperscalers.
Drive product integrations with each partner, working directly with engineering and product management counterparts on both sides to identify, scope, and deliver joint technical initiatives.
Develop and lead joint go-to-market strategy for each partnership, connecting GitLab's business priorities, product roadmap, and AI strategy to concrete partner initiatives, and then own getting those plans executed.
Build strong working relationships across partner organizations, including executives, product management, engineering, sales, and marketing stakeholders.
Run a disciplined operating cadence across complex initiatives, with clear priorities, owners, timelines, coordination points, and follow-through you drive yourself.
Coordinate cross-functional work inside GitLab to support partnership goals, aligning teams across product, engineering, sales, marketing, finance, and the executive group.
Translate partner opportunities and requests into actionable internal plans, including roadmap discussions, integration needs, commercial terms, and executive recommendations.
Track and communicate measurable partnership outcomes such as spend efficiency, consumption trends, renewal terms secured, integration progress, and joint go-to-market execution.
Represent the partnerships at the executive level by preparing clear recommendations, briefing executives, and helping drive alignment on investments, trade-offs, and next steps.
What you'll bring
Significant experience owning strategic partnerships, alliance relationships, or vendor/commercial relationships in enterprise software, cloud, and/or AI, with a track record of being in the details, not just setting direction. This experience should reflect owning one or a small number of relationships in depth, not administering a large multi-partner channel ecosystem.
Direct experience managing enterprise cloud commercial agreements (e.g., EDP, MACC, or similar consumption/spend commitments) with at least one major hyperscaler, including experience owning a renewal cycle from expiration planning through negotiation and close.
Experience driving product or technical integrations with a cloud partner, and shaping joint go-to-market strategy that connects a product roadmap to partner initiatives.
Strong ownership mindset with the ability to operate as a single-threaded owner who is accountable for both strategy and execution, and comfortable doing the hands-on work personally rather than handing it off.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex commercial and partnership topics into clear recommendations for executives and cross-functional stakeholders.
Strong project and program management skills, including the ability to organize complex workstreams, prioritize effectively, and keep multiple initiatives moving through direct, hands-on management.
Genuine technical fluency in software development, platform integrations, and cloud infrastructure, with comfort engaging engineering and product counterparts in substantive conversations, not just positioning technology commercially.
Experience working with senior stakeholders on high-visibility initiatives, including preparing executive briefings, framing recommendations, and driving follow-through.
Ability to influence without formal authority, build strong working relationships across internal and external teams, and navigate multiple priorities with sound judgment.
Familiarity with the DevSecOps ecosystem and a results-oriented approach to measuring partnership impact through spend efficiency and business/product outcomes rather than partner-sourced revenue or quota attainment.
Preferred: candidates based in US Eastern or Central time zones, given close cross-functional coordination needs.
About the team
The Strategic Partnerships team owns the strategy and relationship management for some of GitLab's most consequential external partners, including the hyperscalers powering GitLab's infrastructure and future AI capabilities. We work across product, engineering, sales, marketing, finance, and the executive group to turn these partnerships into differentiated value for GitLab, manage our infrastructure investment responsibly, and ensure these relationships support our long-term platform strategy.

Block storage and virtualization (volumes, snapshots, replication, NVMe-oF)
File and parallel file systems for HPC/AI (Lustre, GPFS, BeeGFS, NFS)
Distributed storage internals (replication, erasure coding, consistency, repair)
Storage performance engineering and benchmarking
Object storage at scale (S3-compatible APIs, metadata, multipart, lifecycle)
Proven track record of delivering complex technical initiatives requiring coordination across multiple teams or stakeholders
Technical leadership experience is a strong plus
Product management experience is
not required
, but a strong willingness to learn and grow into the role is essential
Nice to Have
Experience with
storage for AI/ML training pipelines and large-scale HPC
(checkpointing, data loading at scale, high-throughput sequential and random access patterns)
Experience creating
technical documentation, guides, tutorials, or reference architectures
for storage products
Ideal Candidate
The ideal candidate is a
technically strong professional with a background in cloud or cloud storage products
at
hyperscalers (AWS, GCP, Azure), other public cloud providers, storage vendors, their partners, or highly digitalized enterprises
.
The candidate may come from a background in
storage engineering, distributed systems, architecture, SRE, or technical leadership
, with hands-on experience building
cloud storage services, distributed storage systems, or high-performance storage for ML and HPC
. Experience in technical product or platform ownership or technical leadership is highly valued, even if the candidate has not held a formal manager title.
Relevant experience in
ML and HPC environments
is strongly desirable given the storage demands of these workloads, though the candidate is expected to adapt quickly and learn new domains.
