About the role
Finance at Descript isn’t a back office function. It’s a strategic partner in shaping where and how we grow. This role exists to turn insight into leverage, helping the company make smarter bets, allocate capital effectively, and improve the efficiency of our go to market engine. You will report to the VP of Finance and operate as a senior individual contributor with high ownership.
Your scope covers the full growth funnel, from top of funnel through conversion, retention, and ARR. You will own GTM and growth models, partner closely with Sales, Marketing, Growth, and Data teams, act as a thought partner to GTM leadership on goal setting, performance tracking, and identifying growth opportunities across self serve, product led, and sales led motions.
We are looking for someone who sees GTM finance as both analytical and strategic. Someone who enjoys building models and metrics, but also shaping the narrative around growth. You are comfortable working directly in SQL, navigating imperfect data, and translating complexity into clear recommendations that influence how Descript grows.
What you will do
Own Descript’s top of funnel and growth models, from signups to paid conversion to ARR and retention.
Own sales-led revenue forecasting, including pipeline modeling, win rates, sales capacity, and quota-driven ARR.
Build and maintain GTM financial models including ARR builds, channel performance, cohort analysis, and scenario modeling.
Partner deeply with the data team to define metrics, improve data framework, and enable reliable self-serve analytics for finance and GTM.
Design and maintain dashboards for key GTM metrics such as signups by channel, conversion rates, new ARR, retention, and payback.
Identify growth opportunities across self-serve, product-led, and sales-assisted motions and quantify their impact.
Define GTM goal setting frameworks and track performance against targets.
Analyze marketing and growth efficiency, including ROI, CAC, payback, and funnel conversion.
Support pricing, packaging, and monetization initiatives with clear financial analysis.
Communicate insights to leadership in a clear, decision-oriented way, including exec and board materials when needed.
What you bring
7 to 10+ years of experience in strategic finance, GTM finance, growth analytics, or related roles at SaaS companies.
Strong GTM intuition with hands-on experience in top of funnel analysis, ARR modeling, and revenue forecasting.
Advanced SQL skills and the ability to self-serve data end to end.
Experience supporting both B2B and B2C SaaS models.
Strong financial modeling skills, especially around growth scenarios and funnel dynamics.
Experience supporting monetization experiments, pricing, and packaging
Experience partnering with data teams and working with large, imperfect datasets.
Clear communicator who can translate data into actions and recommendations.
Comfortable with ambiguity, high ownership, and building things from scratch.
Solid understanding of SaaS metrics across PLG and sales-led motions.
If you don’t tick every box above, we’d still encourage you to apply. We’re building a diverse team whose skills balance and complement one another.
The base salary range for this role is $160,000 - $215,000/year. Final offer amounts will carefully consider multiple factors, including prior experience, expertise, and location, and may vary from the amount above.

Metabase is the easiest way for people to get insights from their data, from tiny startups who get up and running quickly to major corporations with tens of thousands of users. That's why people love us.
We bring data tools with the elegance and simplicity of consumer products to the crufty world of enterprise business intelligence. We provide an opinionated open source starting point for how companies should measure, analyze and share their data, which is used by tens of thousands of companies.
Metabase is looking for our first Account Manager to support our new cross sell motion. We have recently released Metabot, our new AI product, and releasing some even bigger things next year that are primed to make some splashes. We have thousands of customers today that we think will gain a lot of value from these products and are searching for the initial team that will help build and run the new selling motion.
This is a 0-1 type of role that doesn’t have existing process today. You will be supported as we build things out, but the role will demand building out process, designing playbooks, in addition to managing and closing pipeline.
It will undoubtedly be an exciting thing to work on as it could be a key part of our next phase of growth.
What you’ll do:
Define and build target account plans
Build and refine new product positioning
Manage pipeline from creation to close
What we’re looking for:
Experience being the first person in a role of its kind at a company
Ability to iterate on technical product messaging
Ability to manage an active opportunity pipeline
Experience assisting customers with technical proof of concepts
Familiarity with tooling that will help with the job: Clay, Unify, Salesforce, etc.
Qualities we look for:
Ownership
Comfortable with experiments
Strong ability to sell
Technical aptitude
Compensation
The US base salary range for this role is $190K–$200K annually, plus equity and benefits.
Compensation is determined by role, level, location, and individual qualifications, including skills, experience, and scope of responsibility. Pay may vary by geographic location and other job-related factors.
Benefits
We offer meaningful equity and a comprehensive US benefits package, including fully employer-covered medical, dental, and vision insurance (with 75% coverage for dependents), a 401(k) with employer match available to enroll after the first 30 days, flexible and unlimited paid time off including sick time, and an asynchronous, remote-first environment.
We're a global team (50% outside the US), fully distributed (from Thailand to California), who get things done asynchronously, with plenty of uninterrupted time, supporting each other to do the best work of our careers. We offer flexibility (define your own schedule and work from wherever you want), autonomy, and an environment that fosters growth, learning, and development. We're relentlessly user-focused and believe in building long-term value, not short-term hacks. And we raised a $30M Series B to take our approach to the next level for years to come.
For U.S. applicants: Metabase participates in the federal E-Verify program, which confirms employment authorization of newly hired U.S. based employees. E-Verify is not used as a tool to pre-screen candidates and is only initiated upon hire.
