The Role
We’re looking for a QA Manager to own end-to-end quality across hardware, firmware, PlayOS, and game experiences for Nex Playground. This is a role for someone who enjoys hands-on testing and debugging while also shaping test strategy, release criteria, and the overall quality bar.
Your mission is to ensure every hardware revision works seamlessly with PlayOS and our games—delivering a stable, responsive, compatible, and delightful experience in real-world conditions. You’ll partner closely with the engineering team and game cells to identify risk, prevent regressions, and support confident release decisions.
Key Responsibilities
Hardware compatibility & system validation
Own validation for hardware bring-up and ongoing compatibility across hardware revisions, PlayOS versions, and game builds.
Develop and maintain risk-based test plans across EVT, DVT, and PVT—or equivalent development stages—including:
boot, update, rollback, and recovery flows
input, tracking, peripherals, and connectivity
long-session stability, power cycles, and intermittent failures
storage integrity and save-data behavior
Maintain a clear compatibility matrix covering hardware revisions, PlayOS versions, firmware versions, and game builds.
Partner with engineering teams to isolate hardware–software issues and verify fixes.
Firmware quality & release gating
Own the test strategy for firmware and PlayOS updates, including upgrade and downgrade paths, interrupted updates, failure scenarios, sleep/wake behavior, backgrounding, resume, and recovery.
Define manual validation and integrate automated checks into OTA release workflows where appropriate, covering installation, staged rollout, rollback, interruption handling, and recovery.
Establish quality gates, entry and exit criteria, and evidence-based go/no-go recommendations for hardware and firmware releases.
Assess release risk, track critical issues, and ensure regressions are understood before rollout.
Performance, reliability & real-world readiness
Validate system compatibility across PlayOS and game releases, including input, tracking, performance, save data, and update-related regressions.
Define and validate measurable quality targets such as frame-rate stability, responsiveness, latency, memory usage, thermal behavior, and crash-free sessions.
Execute long-run, stress, and recovery testing to identify memory leaks, degradation over time, and intermittent failures.
Test representative user environments, including network variability, display configurations, device states, user flows, and edge conditions.
Automation & tooling
Build and maintain reliable automated regression coverage across device, firmware, OTA, system-integration, and game-compatibility workflows where appropriate.
Integrate high-value automated checks into release workflows and make failures easy to diagnose.
Develop lightweight tools and scripts that accelerate setup, validation, data collection, and troubleshooting.
Communication, vendor management & cross-functional leadership
Produce actionable bug reports with clear reproduction steps, environment and build details, logs, impact, and supporting evidence.
Drive defect triage and prioritization with engineering and product partners, particularly during release cycles.
Manage external vendors, including scope, capacity, priorities, deliverables, acceptance criteria, quality standards, and performance.
Communicate quality status and release risk clearly, helping teams make informed tradeoffs and decisions.
Champion consistent testing practices and raise the quality bar across teams through influence and collaboration.
Key Requirements
Strong hands-on QA experience in system-level testing, firmware or OS validation, or hardware–software integration.
Demonstrated ability to design risk-based test strategies and execute thorough exploratory testing.
Experience validating firmware or OTA update flows, including failure handling, rollback, and recovery.
Experience investigating performance, reliability, and intermittent issues using logs, traces, crash data, and other diagnostic evidence.
Ability to create maintainable automated tests, tools, or scripts in at least one programming or scripting language.
Experience coordinating external QA partners or vendors and holding deliverables to clear quality standards.
Clear written and verbal communication, sound judgment, and strong cross-functional collaboration.
Nice-to-have
Experience with consumer electronics, hardware bring-up, EVT/DVT/PVT, or manufacturing test concepts.
Experience with game or platform QA, graphics and performance profiling, input or motion-tracking systems, or observability tooling.
Familiarity with Android or Linux debugging, ADB, CI/CD systems, device logs, traces, and crash dumps.
Experience building test infrastructure, managing device labs, or validating staged software rollouts at scale.

Order Experience
– the area responsible for the user experience from the moment an order is placed: payment and the user’s journey in the app after purchase.
Here, analytics directly affects both the user experience and the business economics: how easy it is to pay for a purchase, how quickly a customer’s issue gets resolved, and how much that resolution costs the company.
You’ll work with the Product, Payments, Billing, and Support teams: together with managers, engineers, support specialists, and the finance team, you’ll identify opportunities for improvement, test hypotheses, and see them through to implementation. To do this, we have a mature internal A/B testing platform, a set of MCP tools and AI agents for analytical tasks, high-quality data in BigQuery and Spark, and transparent data preparation processes built on Airflow and dbt.
This role is a great fit for someone who enjoys proactively proposing changes, taking part in setting priorities, and seeing the results of their work in the product and in business metrics.

Requirements
Strong SQL and Python skills for data analysis and automation
A solid understanding of mathematical statistics and hands-on experience with A/B testing – from forming a hypothesis to drawing conclusions and making recommendations
Experience applying AI in analytical work: the ability to integrate it into everyday tasks, verify its outputs, and find new opportunities for automation
Independence and an interest in the business: the ability to dig into a problem, propose hypotheses, and connect analysis results to a specific decision
The ability to explain complex topics clearly to colleagues with different backgrounds — from engineers to support, finance, and legal specialists
The ability to manage work for multiple stakeholders: making priorities transparent, agreeing on scope and timelines, and justifiably deprioritizing less important tasks
Preferred
Experience in e-commerce, payments, support, or operations automation
Building your own AI tools and agents for data analysis
We offer
Compensation package: base salary and performance-based bonuses
Office-first: flexible hours with a possibility to work remotely 52 days per year

Opportunity to make a high impact at a growing, global company
Work alongside top experts worldwide contributing to the Java ecosystem
Referral Program — help us grow with great people
Premium IT equipment — MacBook Pro or hardware of your choice
Competitive paid holidays and sick time
Flexible working hours
Remote first OR Prague / Limassol / Belgrade city center offices OR hybrid - UP TO YOU!

About Nebius:
Nebius is leading a new era in cloud infrastructure for the global AI economy. We are building a full-stack AI cloud platform that supports developers and enterprises from data and model training through to production deployment, without the cost and complexity of building large in-house AI/ML infrastructure.
Built by engineers, for engineers. From large-scale GPU orchestration to inference optimization, we own the hard problems across compute, storage, networking and applied AI.
Listed on Nasdaq (NBIS) and headquartered in Amsterdam, we have a global footprint with R&D hubs across Europe, the UK, North America and Israel. Our team of 1,500+ includes hundreds of engineers with deep expertise across hardware, software and AI R&D.
The role
Nebius Token Factory is looking for scientists who can turn frontier LLM and VLM inference bottlenecks into research questions, conduct rigorous experiments, and translate their findings into production capabilities. You will own focused research and optimization projects, write strong code, and produce prototypes, publications, and technical artifacts that engineers can build on.
Your research will span quantization, distillation, speculative decoding, KV-cache optimization, and model/runtime co-optimization, alongside inference engines and distributed inference architectures. You will investigate how these approaches interact, evaluate their trade-offs across model quality, latency, throughput, memory footprint, and cost per token, and work with engineering teams to bring promising results into production.
Your responsibilities
Lead research projects in efficient LLM and VLM inference, from hypotheses and experiments through ablations, prototypes, and production handoff.
Develop and evaluate methods spanning quantization, quantization-aware training (QAT), distillation, speculative decoding, KV-cache reuse, KV-cache compression, long-context inference, MoE routing, and model/runtime co-optimization.
Build prototypes using PyTorch, Triton, CUDA-adjacent tooling, or inference-serving frameworks, and collaborate with MLEs and platform engineers to turn them into production components.
Research LLM request routing and scheduling strategies, including cache-aware load balancing and prefill–decode disaggregation (PDD). Evaluate how queueing, KV-cache transfer, worker placement, and prefill/decode capacity allocation affect latency, throughput, and serving cost.
Investigate multi-node inference for dense and mixture-of-experts models, including wide expert parallelism (WideEP). Study expert placement, load imbalance, and computation/communication trade-offs, and use the findings to guide model and system architecture choices.
Develop rigorous evaluations covering quality, latency, throughput, numerical stability, memory footprint, tail latency, and cost per token. Compare serving architectures under consistent workload conditions and GPU budgets.
Work with MLE, GPU kernel, backend infrastructure, product, and customer teams to select research priorities with measurable production impact.
Share results through internal reports, technical blogs, papers, and open-source artifacts, and mentor engineers and scientists on experimental design, scientific rigor, and model/system trade-offs.
