About the Team
Netlify is a product-led growth company with an unusually large organic top-of-funnel, where tens of thousands of people discover and sign up for Netlify every day. That organic motion is real and meaningful, but paid acquisition is a new investment area for the marketing team, and there's a clear opportunity to build that capability from the ground up.
As Senior Manager, Demand Generation & Performance Marketing, you'll own paid acquisition end to end - strategy, channel selection, budget, and the agency relationship that supports execution. You'll report to the CMO, with a planned transition to the VP of Growth Marketing as that function scales, and work closely with Marketing Operations, Data, Lifecycle, and Campaigns to make sure paid-acquired users don't just land, but convert and stick. This is a builder role at a company where the organic foundation is already strong, and your job is to build the paid layer that extends its reach.
What You'll Do
Build and own Netlify's paid acquisition strategy end to end, including paid search, paid social, retargeting, sponsorships, and any other channels worth testing and proving out.
Own the call on where paid creates incremental value for Netlify. Design the tests, prove which channels and audiences drive growth our organic funnel wouldn't have delivered anyway, and decide where to scale, where to hold, and where not to spend at all.
Manage the agency relationship(s) supporting paid/performance work by setting the brief, holding the agency accountable to targets, and deciding what to bring in-house as the function matures.
Own budget planning, pacing, and ROI reporting for all paid spend, and make the case for where to double down or pull back.
Partner with Marketing Operations to get attribution and UTM tracking right before scaling spend, so every dollar is measurable.
Define target audiences and channel mix aligned to Netlify's ICP; partner with Product Marketing on messaging inputs for paid creative.
Build the measurement framework for CAC, signup/pipeline contribution, and payback by channel.
Partner with Lifecycle and Campaigns to make sure paid-acquired users flow into the right onboarding and activation journeys, not just land and drop off.
As the program proves out, build the roadmap and case for a fully staffed paid/performance team.
What You'll Bring
6+ years in demand generation or performance marketing, with direct ownership of a paid acquisition budget in a B2B SaaS or product-led growth environment
Hands-on experience running paid search, paid social, and retargeting programs yourself - not just briefing agencies or reviewing their reports
A track record of standing up or significantly scaling a paid acquisition program at an early stage, where you had to build the infrastructure and not just optimize what was already there
Experience managing an external agency or partner relationship, including setting performance expectations and holding partners accountable to them
Working knowledge of attribution and marketing measurement, and a history of partnering with Marketing Ops or Data teams to get tracking right before spend scales
Some experience marketing to developers or technical audiences, or with a PLG motion where paid acquisition runs alongside a large organic and self-serve funnel
This Role Is a Great Fit If
You're energized by building and scaling a new paid program, not just optimizing one that's already mature.
You think like an owner of budget and outcomes, not just a briefs-and-reports manager of an agency.
You're comfortable moving between strategy (channel mix, targeting, budget allocation) and getting into the details yourself when it matters.
You care about attribution being right before spend scales, not as an afterthought.
You want to build in close partnership with Lifecycle, Campaigns, and Marketing Ops rather than run paid as a separate lane that hands off a spreadsheet at the end of the quarter
Applying
Not sure you meet 100% of our qualifications?
Please apply anyway!
When applying please include:
A resume or short listing of your job history & skills (link to a LinkedIn profile would be fine). We appreciate a cover letter explaining why you would enjoy working in this role at Netlify to get to know you a bit better, though this is not required and will not impact your application. Our mission is to “build a better web” and that cannot be done without a diversity of skill sets, backgrounds and thoughts.
Of everything we've ever built at Netlify, we are most proud of our team. Netlify is an Equal Opportunity Employer. We are devoted to building a team of people with diverse backgrounds and lifestyles. Driving equality empowers our team, enables us to innovate, and helps us maintain a more inclusive environment. We don’t discriminate against employees or applicants based on gender identity or expression, sexual orientation, religion, age, race, military/veteran status, citizenship, pregnancy status, or any other differences. If we can do anything to provide a better interview, i.e. accommodate a disability, then please let us know by emailing

Candidates outside the US or in premium markets should consult with their Talent Acquisition partner regarding location-based ranges, as they may be higher or lower than the average US range listed. The starting pay will be determined based on multiple factors, including expertise and skills, market demands, experience, internal equity, and applicable geographic location. These compensation packages and ranges are subject to change and may be modified in the future.

Senior Software Engineer - AI & Agentic Architecture
This is a senior individual-contributor role combining deep hands-on engineering with multiple agentic frameworks & SDKs, harnesses, MCP, and APIs, technical leadership, and close collaboration with engineering, security, and product teams. You'll design and ship agentic systems, developer tooling, and reusable platform capabilities that improve productivity across SIE.
What you'll do:
Agentic & AI Engineering
Design, build, and operate production-quality agentic applications using agentic SDKs/harnesses — including multi-agent orchestration, subagent delegation, tool integration, and lifecycle hooks.
Design Model Context Protocol (MCP) tool and resource interfaces that give coding agents/harnesses safe, reliable access to backend systems and enterprise data.
Engineer prompts for reliable structured output (JSON schemas, few-shot examples, validation/retry loops) and build evaluation frameworks to measure and improve output quality.
Manage context effectively across long documents, multi-turn conversations, and multi-agent handoffs; design escalation and human-in-the-loop patterns for production reliability.
Developer Productivity
Configure and extend Codex/Claude Code for team-wide use:
AGENTS.md/CLAUDE.md
hierarchies, custom slash commands, Agent Skills, path-specific rules, and plan mode.
Integrate agentic development into CI/CD pipelines for automated code review, test generation, and PR feedback, tuned to minimize false positives and duplicate findings.
Build and maintain MCP server integrations (project- and user-scoped) that extend agent-native development capabilities across engineering workflows.
Identify high-value opportunities for AI-assisted development and design reusable capabilities that multiple teams can adopt, not just one-off solutions.
Discovery, Prototyping & Production Delivery
Partner directly with engineering teams to understand workflows, pain points, and opportunities through hands-on discovery.
Rapidly prototype and validate new AI capabilities with real users, then take successful prototypes into secure, observable, maintainable production systems.
Own the full lifecycle: implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
Technical Leadership
Provide hands-on technical leadership through architecture discussions, code reviews, and troubleshooting of agentic systems.
Mentor engineers on agentic design patterns, prompt engineering, and agent-native development practices.
Communicate tradeoffs, risks, and results clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Contribute to engineering standards, reusable patterns, and documentation that help other teams build effectively with agentic development tools.
Requirements
6+ years of professional software engineering experience, including significant hands-on work building and operating AI/LLM-powered or agentic applications.
Strong programming skills (Java, Python, Go, Rust, or C++) and solid engineering fundamentals — API design, testing, debugging, code review, maintainable code.
Practical, production-grade experience with agentic SDKs/harnesses, MCP, and LLMs — tool use, orchestration, RAG, context management, structured output, and evaluation.
Experience designing MCP tool/resource interfaces and reasoning about tool selection, error handling, and reliability in multi-agent systems.
Demonstrated experience integrating AI into CI/CD and developer workflows.
Ability to work in ambiguous problem spaces, evaluate tradeoffs, and make pragmatic engineering decisions.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with experience mentoring and leading through influence.
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.
Preferred Qualifications
Demonstrated expertise across agentic architecture, MCP integration, Codex/Claude Code configuration, prompt engineering, and context management.
Experience building multi-agent research or customer support systems, or structured data extraction pipelines.
Experience with AWS, Docker, Kubernetes, Terraform, and GitOps in support of AI/agentic infrastructure.
Familiarity with vector databases, embeddings, and AI evaluation frameworks.
Contributions to open-source projects involving AI, agentic systems, or developer tooling.
Strong systems thinking — understands how models, agents, tools, context, APIs, data, and infrastructure fit together as production systems, and can reason about dependencies and tradeoffs across the stack.
A track record of adapting quickly to new AI tools, models, and frameworks as the space evolves.
At SIE, we consider several factors when setting each role’s base pay range, including the competitive benchmarking data for the market and geographic location.
Please note that the base pay range may vary in line with our hybrid working policy and individual base pay will be determined based on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location.

WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Understand the needs of the teams that use our platforms and the customers who depend on them. Use product data, operational feedback, and recurring quality issues to identify the highest-impact problems, and then solve them.
- Turn recurring needs into shared services, tools, and workflows that reduce duplicated work. Exercise judgment about when to build a reusable capability, use an existing solution, or take a simpler approach.
- Work directly with product, engineering, and operational teams to understand their workflows, identify recurring problems, and anticipate the capabilities they will need next.
- Prioritize platform investments across new product enablement, reliability, efficiency, and technical debt. Make clear tradeoffs between near-term delivery and long-term flexibility.
- Define and track success through business impact, reliability, cost to serve, and reduced manual work, connecting these measures to customer and business outcomes.
- Partner closely with engineering on technical tradeoffs, build-versus-buy decisions, and rollout plans. Write clear requirements and drive delivery from problem definition through launch and iteration.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Experience owning product strategy and execution on technical products and platforms, or shared systems used by multiple teams such as billing and monetization, identity and access, developer platforms, data and experimentation, internal tooling, support, etc.
- Strong technical fluency. You can reason about APIs, data flows, system dependencies, and failure modes, and work closely with engineers on consequential tradeoffs.
- Strong analytical skills. You can investigate problems independently, define meaningful metrics, and evaluate the impact of platform investments.
- Strong written and verbal communication, with the ability to align teams around priorities and make difficult decisions when their needs compete.
- High ownership and sound judgment in a fast-moving environment. You are comfortable moving between long-term strategy and hands-on execution without adding unnecessary process.
- A focus on customer outcomes and product quality, including when your immediate users are internal teams.
WHERE THIS PERSON NEEDS TO SPIKE
- Systems thinker, detail-oriented, problem solver. This person needs to have experience wrangling thorny, complex problems. We need someone that is excited about diving into messy workflows, reading through dozens of support tickets, thinking through edge cases no one’s thought of, assuming different behavior across platforms, proactively considering enterprise vs. consumer workflows, etc.
- Experience working on platforms with multiple stakeholders and non-trivial tradeoffs. This person is building products simultaneously for customers, agents, and other internal employees.
- Is “AI-native.” Can build AI products whose outputs require evaluation, safeguards, and human-in-the-loop design.
- Strong analytical skills and experience defining metrics in ambiguity, breaking down workflows, and using quantitative and qualitative evidence to prioritize.
- Some experience working on critical software: support platforms/agents, legal/compliance tooling, identity and account tooling, billing, fraud, trust-and safety, etc.
- High-ownership. This person needs to feel dissatisfied by the current support flow, and hungry to do whatever it takes to clear the backlog.
