How we're different
We believe that the highest-impact AI research will be big science. At Anthropic we work as a single cohesive team on just a few large-scale research efforts. And we value impact — advancing our long-term goals of steerable, trustworthy AI — rather than work on smaller and more specific puzzles. We view AI research as an empirical science, which has as much in common with physics and biology as with traditional efforts in computer science. We're an extremely collaborative group, and we host frequent research discussions to ensure that we are pursuing the highest-impact work at any given time. As such, we greatly value communication skills.
The easiest way to understand our research directions is to read our recent research. This research continues many of the directions our team worked on prior to Anthropic, including: GPT-3, Circuit-Based Interpretability, Multimodal Neurons, Scaling Laws, AI & Compute, Concrete Problems in AI Safety, and Learning from Human Preferences.

About Anthropic
Anthropic’s mission is to create reliable, interpretable, and steerable AI systems. We want AI to be safe and beneficial for our users and for society as a whole. Our team is a quickly growing group of committed researchers, engineers, policy experts, and business leaders working together to build beneficial AI systems.
About the role
Anthropic's Inference organization serves Claude to millions of users and enterprise customers with the speed, reliability, and efficiency that frontier AI demands. We build across GPUs, TPUs, and Trainium, and the complexity of our development environment grows with every platform we add. We're looking for a Staff engineer to be the technical lead for Inference Developer Productivity: the team that makes every engineer in the org dramatically more effective at building, testing, and shipping inference software.
This is a senior IC role with broad technical ownership. You'll set technical direction for the team's toolchains, workflows, and feedback loops, and you'll be the one making the hard calls on architecture, prioritization, and tradeoffs across heterogeneous accelerator platforms. You'll pair with the team's Engineering Manager, who owns hiring and people development, while you own the technical roadmap and drive the work. You'll also partner closely with Anthropic's central Infrastructure org, where company-wide developer productivity lives, to make sure Inference's multi-accelerator reality is well served without duplicating effort.
This role is for someone who has been the technical anchor on a platform or infrastructure team before, who thinks in systems and feedback loops, and who gets real satisfaction from the moment another engineer stops fighting their environment and starts shipping.
Key responsibilities
Set technical direction for Inference Developer Productivity, owning the architecture and roadmap for toolchains, dev environments, and CI/CD across GPU (CUDA), TPU, and Trainium platforms
Be the technical owner of accelerator toolchain management: compilers, drivers, libraries, frameworks, kept current, compatible, and well-tested so Inference engineers focus on model serving instead of environment archaeology
Design and build infrastructure for efficient accelerator usage during development, including devbox environments, pre- and post-land validation automation, and shared tooling that reduces the cost of working across heterogeneous hardware
Define and instrument productivity metrics for the Inference org, building the dashboards and alerting that surface regressions early (smoke tests red for extended periods, build times creeping up, toolchain breakages) and drive them to resolution
Proactively hunt down bottlenecks, toil, and friction across Inference engineering workflows, then design and build the systems that eliminate them
Act as the technical counterpart to Anthropic's central Infrastructure org, aligning on shared developer productivity initiatives, contributing Inference-specific requirements, and making the call on build vs. adopt
Mentor engineers on the team through design review, code review, and direct collaboration, raising the technical bar without owning headcount
Minimum qualifications
8+ years of software engineering experience, with significant time as the technical lead or anchor on an infrastructure, platform, or developer productivity team
Deep background in systems engineering, build/test infrastructure, or ML infrastructure, with the ability to go hands-on with toolchain issues, CI/CD pipelines, and developer workflow optimization
Experience owning toolchains or development environments for compute-intensive workloads (ML training or inference, HPC, large-scale distributed systems)
Real depth in at least one accelerator ecosystem (CUDA/GPU, TPU, or Trainium/AWS Neuron) and genuine appetite to learn the others
A track record of defining and using engineering metrics to drive improvement: you've built dashboards, set SLOs on developer workflows, or led initiatives that measurably improved engineering velocity
Experience driving technical alignment across organizational boundaries, advocating for your team's needs while contributing to shared infrastructure
Strong written and verbal communication, and the ability to influence technical direction without formal authority
Preferred qualifications
Experience with ML compiler toolchains (XLA, Triton, NeuronX) or accelerator driver/firmware management at scale
Background building or running shared development environments (devboxes, remote development, ephemeral environments) for hardware-dependent workflows
Experience with CI/CD systems at scale, particularly for workloads involving accelerator hardware
Familiarity with Kubernetes-based development and job scheduling environments
Prior tech lead experience on a developer productivity or platform engineering team at a fast-growing AI/ML company

Anthropic's API is the foundation that customers, developers, and our own products build on, and it is scaling fast. We're hiring a Technical Program Manager to drive the scaling and core efficiency programs for the API stack, working at the intersection of the API and the infrastructure it runs on (compute, databases, networking, and inference).
Today this work spans many teams and many simultaneous programs, with no single person focused on cohesion across them. You'll be the center: the person who connects isolated workstreams into one coherent roadmap, makes cross-org dependencies visible before they become blockers, and creates clarity on who owns which decisions. Success looks like an API stack that scales efficiently and predictably, with programs that land because someone is accountable for the whole picture.
Responsibilities
Drive scaling and core efficiency programs for the API stack from architectural direction through sequenced, deliverable execution
Run multiple large programs simultaneously across infrastructure, networking, and the API layer
Act as the connective tissue between API, infrastructure, database, networking, and inference teams, owning cross-org dependencies end to end
Establish decision-making clarity: who owns what, where trade-offs get made, and how isolated streams roll up into one program view
Surface risks, progress, and trade-offs to engineering leadership with the right altitude and cadence
You may be a good fit if you
Have 7+ years of technical program management experience, with a track record of successfully delivering complex, cross-functional programs
Have experience with API platforms, distributed systems, and core infrastructure programs and can engage meaningfully with the engineers who design and operate them
Have driven scaling, performance, or efficiency programs for high-volume production systems, including the tradeoffs across performance, reliability, and cost
Have coordinated programs spanning many partner organizations, managing cross-team dependencies, commitments, and escalations at the working level
Are highly organized and can manage multiple parallel workstreams effectively across distributed teams
Thrive in unstructured environments with a knack for bringing order to chaos and creating clarity in ambiguous situations, including where decision ownership is unclear
Have excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to influence without authority
Are passionate about Anthropic's mission and interested in the challenges of operating AI infrastructure safely and reliably

Here at Humanoid, we believe in a future where robots amplify human potential. That’s why we’ve set out on a mission to build the world’s most capable, commercially-scalable, and safe humanoid robots. We’re bringing that mission to life with HMND‑01 - our rapidly developed humanoid platform being deployed in real industrial environments - and we’re growing the team to take it even further.
ABOUT THE ROLE:
We are looking for a Software Engineer to work on the systems that let operators author, deploy, and manage robot workflows at scale. This sits at the intersection of backend infrastructure and product - you'll build the services that coordinate fleets of robots, the tooling that lets operators express what they want robots to do, and the interfaces that give visibility into what's actually happening on the floor.
This is a full-stack role with a strong backend lean. You'll work closely with the robotics, AI, and product teams to build systems that are real-time, multi-tenant, and mission-critical.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
- Build and maintain backend services that coordinate robot fleets at runtime: workflow state management, event logging, and the APIs that robots, operators, and third-party systems use to interact with the platform
- Develop and evolve the workflow authoring experience - tooling that lets operators define, deploy, and incrementally refine robot workflows in natural language, without needing to understand the underlying representation
- Build on-robot services that enable remote control, workflow execution, state reporting, and diagnostics
- Own the data infrastructure that tracks workflow execution: event logs, conformance metrics, and the audit trails that let operators understand what robots are doing and why
- Build and maintain reliable, secure cloud infrastructure for running these services, including deployment pipelines, observability, and alerting
- Implement testing and validation pipelines to catch regressions across the UI, backend, and on-robot services - including simulation-based workflow validation before changes hit production
WHAT WE’RE LOOKING FOR
- Strong backend engineering skills in Python, Go, or similar
- Solid understanding of API design, data modelling, and the tradeoffs in distributed systems (consistency, concurrency, fault tolerance)
- Experience with cloud infrastructure and deployment: containerisation, CI/CD, infrastructure-as-code
- Comfort working across the stack from frontend to backend
- Experience with observability and alerting in systems where failures have real operational consequences
- Good instincts for where complexity should live and how to keep systems debuggable and understandable as they grow
NICE TO HAVE
- Familiarity with workflow engines, state machines, or coordination systems — ideally in a multi-agent or fleet context
- Experience building operator-facing tooling: dashboards, authoring UIs, or systems that translate human intent into structured actions
- Exposure to LLM-based agentic systems, particularly using AI to generate or modify structured representations from natural language
- Experience integrating with third-party enterprise systems (WMS, ERP, or similar)
- Background in robotics or real-time systems where execution state and side-effects need to be managed carefully
WHAT WE OFFER
- Competitive equity: stock options with meaningful upside as we scale.
- 30+ paid days off, including 23 days of annual leave, all UK bank holidays, and additional company closure days (including Christmas–New Year shutdown).
- Private healthcare, including virtual and in-person care.
- Pension scheme with 8% total contribution (5% employee, 3% employer) on full earnings.
- Free daily breakfast, catered lunch, and snacks in-office.
- Work at the frontier - collaborate daily with world-class engineers, researchers, and product experts building the next generation of AI and humanoid robotics.
- Real ownership - direct access to founding leadership, meaningful input on product direction, and the ability to drive key initiatives from day one.

We are looking for a Software Engineer to own the device software and data pipeline for our UMI data collection devices - handheld gripper systems used by human operators to demonstrate manipulation tasks. The data they produce is used to train our robots, so the quality of what you ship determines the quality of robots we deploy.
This is a deeply technical, hands-on role. You will write production-grade device software, build reliable sensor fusion and recording pipelines, and own the validation tooling that keeps our training datasets clean. You will work closely with hardware, AI, and data collection teams.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
- Develop and maintain device software across the full episode lifecycle: session initialisation, per-sensor stream management, episode recording, and graceful shutdown
- Integrate and synchronise sensor streams - wrist and head cameras, 6-DOF pose trackers, gripper aperture encoders, and optionally force/torque sensors - into temporally-aligned, policy-consumable trajectories
- Define and maintain the data contract between UMI devices and the AI team: stream formats, episode packaging, metadata schemas, and the interface between raw recordings and training pipelines
- Build and maintain data validation tooling that detects dropped frames, timing jitter, pose tracking loss, image quality degradation, and sensor faults before corrupt episodes enter the training dataset
- Own operator-facing device software: status indication, start/stop/cancel episode controls, and clear feedback when a session needs to be retried
- Support field data collection sessions - deploying devices to operators, validating data quality in situ, and iterating quickly when issues surface during collection
- Debug integration failures on device hardware: camera driver issues, bus bandwidth saturation, tracker calibration drift, compute thermal throttling, and storage write failures mid-episode
WE’RE LOOKING FOR:
- Experience in embedded or device-level software in a robotics or sensing context - writing code that runs on the device, not just talking to it
- Proficiency in C++ and/or Python for real-time sensor drivers, inter-process communication, and data recording pipelines
- Solid understanding of multi-modal sensor synchronisation - timestamps, hardware triggers, clock drift - and the practical consequences of getting it wrong for downstream ML
- Familiarity with camera pipelines and the difference between what a sensor reports and what actually lands on disk with correct timing
- Strong instincts around data quality and dataset hygiene - you are uncomfortable shipping episodes with frame drops, tracking loss, or misaligned streams
- Proven ability to debug on real hardware: you read logs, attach profilers, and can diagnose whether a problem is a driver, a bus, or a timing issue
NICE TO HAVE:
- Experience with 6-DOF pose tracking systems (VIO, optical trackers, or similar) and their common failure modes
- Familiarity with ML training data formats and what an AI team actually needs from a recorded episode - understanding the consumer of the data you produce
- Exposure to operator-facing tooling for data collection: session management, per-episode quality summaries, rejection and retry workflows
- Experience scaling device software from a small number of prototype units to many devices operated by non-engineers in the field

About the RL Teams
Our Reinforcement Learning teams play a critical role in advancing our AI systems. We've contributed to all Claude models, with significant impacts on the autonomy and coding capabilities of our latest Claude models. Our work spans several key areas:
Developing systems that enable models to use computers effectively
Advancing code generation through reinforcement learning
Pioneering fundamental RL research for large language models
Building scalable RL infrastructure and training methodologies
Enhancing model reasoning capabilities
We collaborate closely with Anthropic's alignment and frontier red teams to ensure our systems are both capable and safe. We partner with the applied production training team to bring research innovations into deployed models, and are dedicated to implement our research at scale. Our Reinforcement Learning teams sit at the intersection of cutting-edge research and engineering excellence, with a deep commitment to building high-quality, scalable systems that push the boundaries of what AI can accomplish.
About the Role
We're hiring for the Code RL team within the RL organization. As a Research Engineer, you'll advance our models' ability to write, edit, test, debug, and ship real software — end to end, on real codebases, with real tools — and to do it correctly, fast, and safely.
This role blends research and engineering. You'll design RL environments and coding tasks, build the reward signals and verifiers that capture what "good code" means, run training experiments on frontier models, diagnose why a model does (or doesn't) get better at a class of software-engineering work, and improve the speed and reliability of the pipelines that make all of that iterate fast. Code RL spans several focus areas — from agentic coding behaviors and code correctness, to long-horizon autonomous engineering, to high-performance code for accelerators — and we'll match you to the area where you'll have the most impact.
You may be a good fit if you:
Have strong software-engineering skills and deep Python expertise, including async/concurrent programming
Are comfortable owning systems end to end and debugging across the stack
Can balance research exploration with engineering implementation, and engage rigorously in shaping experimental design and interpreting results
Care about code quality, testing, and performance
Are passionate about the potential impact of AI and are committed to developing safe and beneficial systems
Strong candidates may also have:
Experience with reinforcement learning, RLHF, post-training, or LLM finetuning
Built coding agents, code-execution sandboxes, eval harnesses, verifiers, or developer tooling
Background in program analysis, testing, verification, compilers, or formal methods
Experience with PyTorch and large-scale distributed training; performance profiling and optimization of ML systems
CUDA / GPU or TPU kernel experience and accelerator-performance intuition
Experience with virtualization and sandboxed code execution environments
Related roles
If your background leans toward one of these areas specifically, you may also want to look at these postings:
Research Engineer, Performance RL (Reinforcement Learning)
— teaching Claude to write correct, fast code for accelerators
Research Engineer, Universes
— long-horizon, ultra-realistic agentic training environments
