As a Senior Software Engineer on the Fleet Automation team, you will be a key contributor to the infrastructure that makes that data usable: the pipelines, parsers, and time-series stores that translate raw satellite signals into operational state in near real-time. The scope is expanding, the ownership is real, and the engineering problems are ones you will not find anywhere else.
Who We Are
ICEYE delivers space-based intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance (ISR) capabilities to governments and allied nations. This includes sovereign and turnkey ISR missions leveraging ICEYE's world-leading synthetic aperture radar (SAR) satellite technology, as well as access to data from the world's largest SAR satellite constellation. These capabilities enable partners to detect and respond to critical changes anywhere on Earth with unprecedented speed and accuracy, day or night and in any weather, supported by ultra high-resolution imagery and high-frequency revisits.
As a trusted partner for defense, intelligence, security, and maritime domain awareness, ICEYE's near real-time data creates a tactical advantage for mission-critical operations. Designed for dual use, the platform also serves civil protection and commercial users for natural-catastrophe intelligence, insurance, maritime monitoring (including oil-spill detection), and finance, contributing to global security and community resilience.
ICEYE operates internationally with offices in Finland, Poland, Spain, Japan, the UAE, Greece, and the US. The company has more than 900 employees, inspired by the shared vision of improving life on Earth by becoming the global source of truth in Earth Observation.
Expected Outcomes and Requirements
Outcomes:
- Telemetry pipelines ingest, transform, and store satellite data from across the fleet reliably and in near real-time, with minimal manual intervention
- Telemetry data stores are performant and well-maintained, including schema design, query optimisation, capacity planning, and zero-downtime production migrations
- Anomaly detection and automated recovery systems reduce operational load on the mission operations team
- TTC gateway telemetry integration is delivered as a production-grade component ready for customer deployment
- Engineering quality across the team is actively raised through code reviews, testing standards, and support of less experienced engineers
Role-specific Competences
- Strong Python proficiency in production backend systems; experience with Go or Rust is a plus
- Proven experience building and operating telemetry systems, data pipelines, and distributed systems in production
- Strong working knowledge of PostgreSQL and at least one time-series database such as InfluxDB or Prometheus
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes-native environments, Docker, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform and Helm
- Actively uses AI and LLM tooling as part of their engineering workflow
- AWS or equivalent cloud platform experience is a plus
Key Competences
In addition to the requirements above, we evaluate candidates on these key qualities throughout the hiring process:
Intellectual Firepower: Rapidly comprehends, structures and synthesizes complex information, draws accurate conclusions, and communicates them with clarity.
Passion and Work Ethic: Brings sustained motivation, resilience, and high personal standards to every challenge.

From Fivetran’s founding until now, our mission has remained the same: to make access to data as simple and reliable as electricity. With Fivetran, customer data arrives in their warehouses, canonical and ready to query, with no engineering or maintenance required. We’re proud that more organizations continue to leverage our technology every day to become truly data-driven.
About Us
Fivetran and dbt Labs are bringing together two industry-leading companies with a shared mission: helping organizations unlock the full value of their data. Together, we’re delivering the data infrastructure layer that helps organizations move, transform, and trust their data — from the moment data moves, through every transformation, to the context teams and AI systems rely on. Fivetran helps organizations automate data movement across the systems, clouds, engines, and tools they rely on. dbt Labs pioneered analytics engineering, helping teams transform data into reliable, governed insights. Together, we support thousands of organizations as they build a trusted foundation for analytics, AI, and better business decisions. As we bring our teams and technology together, we’re building on the strengths of both companies while continuing to deliver the products and experiences our customers know and trust. It’s an exciting time to join us: we’re creating a company with the scale, talent, and technology to help more organizations put their data to work with greater speed, confidence, and impact. During this transition period, you may see references to both Fivetran and dbt Labs throughout our recruiting process as we integrate our teams, systems, and career sites.
About the role
We’re looking for a Staff Infrastructure Engineer with GCP, Azure, or AWS expertise to help us build a seamless, reliable platform for the dbt platform across AWS, Azure, and GCP. Our team’s mission is to create a seamless developers experience by providing a stable, observable, and easy-to-use infrastructure platform.
Over the past year, we’ve designed and operationalized a next-gen cell-based architecture, scaling the dbt platform across all three cloud providers. Now, we’re focused on automation, self-service, and improving developer velocity through better tooling, processes, and infrastructure design.
As an Staff engineer on our team, you’ll work on medium projects, helping to refine our platform while ensuring performance, reliability, and a great developer experience. You’ll collaborate across teams, solve real infrastructure challenges, and help shape the future of multi-cloud dbt Cloud.
What You'll Do
Design, operate, and support infrastructure systems with parity across tenancy models (single vs multi) and public clouds (AWS, Azure, and GCP) - and work with engineering teams to get their services consistently deployed to those environments
Bring cloud infrastructure expertise to the team, helping us strengthen and scale our infrastructure as we expand dbt Cloud’s multi-cloud capabilities.
Help create a great developer experience while working with our close partners in Architecture, Release Engineering, Product Engineering and Security
Leverage tools and languages such as Terraform, Kubernetes, Python, Bash, Helm, ArgoCD, Go, and DataDog
Design and build automation to eliminate manual toil and streamline infrastructure operations at scale
Identify and implement infrastructure optimizations that reduce cloud spend without sacrificing reliability
Participate in a balanced on-call rotation in an environment that values continuous improvement, and help to upgrade our tooling and reduce toil
Skills We're Looking For
10+ years of Experience with the clouds, tools, and languages in our stack, especially: AWS\Azure\GCP, Terraform, Kubernetes, Python, and Bash
Solid experience with declarative Infrastructure as Code - ideally with Terraform or a willingness to learn while leveraging your CloudFormation or ARM\Bicep background

Prior experience in a multiple cloud environment
More extensive Kubernetes administration and troubleshooting background

Workplace: Hybrid
ABOUT THE ROLE
Millions of small businesses and their advisors use Xero reports and insights to decide what to do next. AI is changing how people understand their finances faster than any shift since the cloud, and Reporting & Insights is where Xero meets that change. Over the next few years we’re evolving reporting and insights for the agentic era, where customers ask an AI about their numbers as often as they open a Balance Sheet. As the senior technical leader for Reporting & Insights, you’ll set the multi-year technical direction, from the reports businesses file to the insights that tell them what to do next. You’ll also help hire the first Reporting & Insights engineers in Vancouver and decide how they work.
THE TECHNICAL CHALLENGES
Set a 3-year architecture across Reporting & Insights. Reporting and Xero Analytics run on a mix of modern services and systems that have grown with Xero over many years. You’ll define one target state across both, decide how they build on Xero’s data platform, and secure the investment to get there. You’ll design for high throughput, low latency and resilience, so reporting and insights scale with Xero’s largest and most complex customers.
Evolve the platform without breaking trust. Accountants file tax returns from these numbers, so correctness comes first. You’ll lead the evolution of the data foundations behind about 150 reports, sequenced across teams and organisational boundaries. Customers keep the numbers they trust, on foundations built for what comes next.
Make reporting and insights AI-native. AI changes what reporting and insights can be: answers to plain-language questions, insights that reach customers where they work, and analysis that once took an accountant hours. Every answer still has to reconcile to the ledger. You’ll define the foundations: how agents query financial data safely, how answers stay grounded and explainable, and how we prove correctness at scale. We want teams across Xero to build on what you create.
IMPACT
In your first six months you’ll own the Reporting & Insights architecture and set a direction for the data platform and the evolution of both products that engineering, Product and leadership back.
At twelve months you will have:
- Set a multi-year technical strategy for Reporting & Insights
- Delivered new foundations for the first major report families, setting Reporting & Insights up for its next phase of growth
- Opened Reporting & Insights to bigger businesses, with performance that scales to our largest customers
- Put shared foundations for AI-native reporting and insights into production
- Grown the Lead and Senior Engineers around you and raised the technical bar across the group
Beyond year one, you’ll shape where Reporting & Insights goes next, and help steer Xero’s wider data and AI direction alongside the leadership team.
OWNERSHIP
You’re the senior technical voice for Reporting & Insights. You own the multi-year technical strategy and target architecture, and you make the calls that cross team and domain boundaries. You shape the roadmap with the GM and Product, decide where we invest in foundational capabilities, and align teams across regions behind one direction. You stay hands-on where it counts: reference implementations, foundational frameworks and the hardest architecture problems
WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
You’ll report to the GM of Engineering. You’ll partner with the engineering managers and teams across Reporting & Insights, who know these products and their data in depth. You’ll shape the product and AI roadmap with the Reporting & Insights Product leads. You’ll also work with Principal Engineers and platform teams across Xero, including the accounting core and data platform teams that own systems we depend on.
WHAT YOU BRING
Must-have:
- You’ve set technical strategy for a domain or portfolio over a 2 to 3 year horizon, and aligned multiple teams behind it.
- You’ve led the evolution of a large, high-traffic, correctness-critical system across organisational boundaries.
- You have depth in high-throughput, low-latency, resilient distributed systems and data-heavy architecture, and you still contribute hands-on where it matters.
- You connect external shifts, AI above all, to product and architecture strategy, and you know where LLMs and agents belong in a system.
- You grow leaders. You’ve mentored Lead and Senior Engineers into bigger roles, and your writing turns complex direction into decisions people act on.
Nice to have:
- Financial, reporting or analytics domain experience
- LLM or agent-based features in production
- .NET and AWS
- A presence in the wider tech community through talks, writing or open source
HOW WE WORK
We’re bold in our vision and pragmatic in execution, delivering useful improvements along the way rather than waiting for a large rewrite. We invest in AI to learn faster and focus effort on higher-value problems, while engineers stay accountable for what they ship. We use shared frameworks to avoid reinvention, leaving teams room to innovate. Engineers own their work, including quality, reliability, and on-call. Leaders set context and priorities, and engineers help shape the solutions.
WHERE WE WORK
We offer a hybrid model that blends the flexibility of working from home with the collaboration of the office, including designated boost days in our modern office spaces. This role is open to hybrid candidates in Vancouver, British Columbia, or San Mateo, California. We also welcome applications from candidates across Canada interested in relocating to Vancouver, and from remote candidates in Seattle, Washington.
OUR HIRING PROCESS

2. Technical assessments: a coding assessment and a systems design assessment, run through an independent third-party provider and based on real-world scenarios.

5. LEADership (45–60 minutes): real examples of how you lead, influence and deliver in ambiguous, fast-changing environments, assessed against Xero's leadership principles
COMPENSATION & TOTAL REWARDS

In addition to base pay, Xero’s roles are eligible for the following forms of variable compensation:
- Variable Pay: Permanent employees are eligible to participate in our annual bonus and equity (RSU) programs. You may also be eligible for performance-based cash or equity (RSUs) incentives depending on your role level, and company performance.
- Comprehensive Benefits: World-class health, wellness, and retirement programs. Xero Perks https://careers.xero.com/inside-xero/benefits-wellbeing/ including Wellbeing days, generous leave, and dedicated professional development budgets.
This is a posting for an existing vacancy.
Xero uses AI to help screen applications based on job-related qualifications. These tools assist our recruiters but do not make automated hiring decisions. A human recruiter reviews all candidates before any hiring action is taken.
Apply even if your experience isn't a perfect match! At Xero, we hire based on your skills, passion, and the unique perspective you can bring to enhance our culture and team.
