Software Engineer

Responsibilities: — Develop models to support decision-making for factory operations including scheduling orders, panels, and machines to optimize throughput and ensure on-time delivery. — Model the factory-scale robot "The Grid" to analyze workflow, identify bottlenecks, and evaluate machine changes. — Estimate order costs in labor, machine time, and parts to assist in pricing and lead time decisions. — Manage inventory decisions regarding parts and consumables, including ordering timing and risk assessment. — Deploy models into production systems that run daily, integrate with planning and quoting systems, and validate against actual outcomes. Requirements: — Quantitative background in operations research, applied mathematics, statistics, quantitative finance, economics, or related fields. — Experience with optimization techniques such as linear and integer programming, constraint programming, heuristics, and the ability to judge when simpler rules are preferable. — Skills in simulation and forecasting, including building and calibrating models of complex systems. — Strong proficiency in Python and SQL, with the ability to write reliable and maintainable code. — Experience using coding agents to enhance productivity and ownership of code output. — Interest in manufacturing processes; willingness to spend time at factories in the US and UK. — Manufacturing experience is a plus but not mandatory.
