What We Do: The Product & Design team delivers Calm to customers, ensuring ease of use, goal support, and high quality across web, iOS, and Android platforms. As a Senior Product Designer on the Consumer team, you will shape experiences used by tens of millions to improve sleep, reduce stress, and promote mindfulness. The role involves using AI and modern prototyping tools to move from insight to interactive prototype to shipped experience, balancing velocity and craft to create intuitive, engaging, and impactful experiences that drive acquisition, engagement, and retention. You will collaborate closely with Product Management, Engineering, Data Science, and Marketing, and set design standards across platforms. You will be a thought leader in design, establishing best practices and setting the bar for exceptional product design at Calm. What You’ll Do: — Own end-to-end product design initiatives covering visual, interaction, motion, and brand integration to create high-quality user-centered mobile experiences. — Prototype quickly in Figma and AI/low-code tools like Replit, Lovable, and Claude to test ideas early. — Present design work clearly and persuasively to cross-functional stakeholders including senior leadership, giving and receiving feedback anchored to user needs and business goals. — Maintain strong attention to detail and collaborate through engineering implementation and post-launch iterations to ensure high-quality execution. — Use data and research to inform design decisions and evolve approaches based on performance insights. — Champion system-level thinking to improve team workflows and evolve Calm's design system. — Balance multiple projects in a fast-paced environment while maintaining high execution standards. Who You Are: — Experienced Product Designer with 7+ years in UX/UI design, including 5+ years in consumer mobile and web applications. — AI-native and tooling-fluent, highly proficient in Figma and using AI and low-code tools (Replit, Lovable, Claude) for prototyping. — Technically agile, comfortable shipping small code changes without engineering support, bridging design and engineering. — A builder biased toward shipping and iterating over perfect plans. — Data- and research-informed, integrating qualitative and quantitative insights into design decisions. — A strong collaborator and low-ego partner to Product, Research, and Engineering. — Holds high craft standards advocating for accessibility, consistency, visual storytelling, brand integration, and motion design. — A clear communicator who presents persuasively, gives and takes feedback well, and champions experiences while staying open to being wrong. Nice to Haves: — Experience with conversational or AI-native UX. — Experience working at multiple organizations, ideally including fast-paced consumer product startups. — A strong portfolio demonstrating ability to design and ship beautiful, functional, user-friendly experiences. — Comfort shipping small copy and UI changes directly in code without engineering support. — Passion for Calm's mission and views on how digital products can support mental health. Minimum Requirements: — 7+ years in UX/UI design with 5+ years in consumer mobile and web applications. — Proven experience driving user testing and research. — Strong foundation in interaction design, visual design, and usability best practices. — Experience designing and shipping mobile applications at scale. — Hands-on proficiency in Figma and modern AI/prototyping tools. — Ability to work independently while contributing to a larger design vision and strategy. Compensation and Benefits: — Base pay range: $168,000 - $245,000 per year, determined by geographic location, skills, experience, and qualifications. — Eligible for equity, comprehensive benefits, 401k, and flexible time off.
