Location: Zurich, Switzerland About Nebius: Nebius is leading a new era in cloud infrastructure for the global AI economy. We are building a full-stack AI cloud platform that supports developers and enterprises from data and model training through to production deployment, without the cost and complexity of building large in-house AI/ML infrastructure. Built by engineers, for engineers. From large-scale GPU orchestration to inference optimization, we own the hard problems across compute, storage, networking and applied AI. Listed on Nasdaq (NBIS) and headquartered in Amsterdam, we have a global footprint with R&D hubs across Europe, the UK, North America and Israel. Our team of 1,500+ includes hundreds of engineers with deep expertise across hardware, software and AI R&D. The Product In a rapidly evolving world, trust in AI depends on AI agents being grounded in fresh, verified real-world data. Search is the foundation that makes this possible. We are building an agent-native search platform designed specifically for AI systems rather than human users. Our product provides programmatic, low-latency, and observable search APIs that AI agents use to retrieve, filter, and reason over real-world information at scale. The Role We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to work on the web access infrastructure of a novel search engine tailored for agentic AI consumption. In this role, you will focus on making our access to public web content reliable and efficient. You will investigate how modern websites and browsers communicate across the full request lifecycle, find the root cause when a request fails or returns something unexpected, and build the fixes into production systems operating at internet scale. Your work ensures that high-quality content is consistently available to the crawling, indexing and retrieval systems downstream. In this position, your responsibility will be to Diagnose failed or degraded requests at the right layer: network and IP, TLS and HTTP/2 behavior, headers and session state, client-side scripts, or browser characteristics Analyze how websites verify and classify clients, including how client-side scripts and protocol-level behavior shape what a site serves to different clients Build clients and tooling that behave consistently and compatibly with standard browsers across all of these layers, using a real browser where a lightweight client is not enough Monitor access quality as websites change: detect regressions, find the cause, and measure success on real content rather than on status codes Build the tooling to do this at scale: traffic capture and comparison against real browsers, per-site and per-method success tracking, and the cost of each successful fetch Choose the fetch method for each host, from a lightweight HTTP client to a full browser, balancing quality against cost You may be a good fit if you Have 5+ years of experience building production systems, and are an expert in several of the following areas. The request lifecycle HTTP/1.1, HTTP/2 and HTTP/3, TLS handshakes and TLS fingerprints (JA3/JA4), and header behavior What a server can observe at each step of a request, and what a client controls at each step A debugging method, not guesses: replaying captured browser traffic, comparing against a real browser on the same network path, and changing one variable at a time Client-side analysis Reading and analyzing complex or obfuscated JavaScript, and observing what a script measures by hooking browser APIs How browser, device and network characteristics are measured (canvas, fonts, WebGL, screen and window metrics) and how consistent they are across layers Browser instrumentation and the Chrome DevTools Protocol, used as tools for investigation Running it for real Have run this in production and can give numbers: requests per day, sites or hosts, and the success rate and how you measured it Strong programming in at least one of Go, Python, Rust or C++ Strong candidates may also have experience with Working at a web data provider, a browser or web-security company, or a company that collects data from complex sources Contributions to browser networking or fingerprinting-related open-source tooling, or public write-ups of how client verification works Building or maintaining a patched browser Networks, proxies and IP reputation Internet-scale distributed systems, Kubernetes and cloud infrastructure The kind of problems you will work on A site returns a different response to our client than to Chrome on the same network path. Find out why, and fix that cause. A site changes how it verifies clients and success drops across a group of sites. Find what changed, adapt, and make the next change cheaper to catch. Switching to a browser-like network profile makes results worse on some hosts. Work out what no longer matches. We conduct coding interviews as part of the process. Benefits & Perks: Competitive compensation Career growth and learning opportunities Flexibility and ownership Collaborative and innovative culture Opportunity to work on impactful AI projects International environment and talented teams What's it like to work at Nebius: Fast moving - Bold thinking - Constant growth - Meaningful impact - Trust and real ownership - Opportunity to shape the future of AI Equal Opportunity Statement: Nebius is an equal opportunity employer. We are committed to fostering an inclusive and diverse workplace and to providing equal employment opportunities in all aspects of employment. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex (including pregnancy), national origin, ancestry, age, disability, genetic information, marital status, veteran status, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, or any other characteristic protected by applicable law. Applicants must be authorized to work in the country in which they apply and will be required to provide proof of employment eligibility as a condition of hire. You will also be responsible for RMA/RMS shipments and ensuring smooth, timely delivery of hardware across all lanes. This is a hands- on, operationally focused role requiring strong attention to detail, excellent vendor management skills, and the ability to work cross-functionally in a fast-paced, global environment. Key Responsibilities Logistics Operations • Manage end-to-end transport of IT hardware — rack systems, servers, and other data center equipment — across all lanes: domestic European moves, inbound international shipments (primarily from Taiwan-based suppliers), outbound from Europe as required, and shipments to and from Israel. • Coordinate inbound freight scheduling for both domestic and international shipments, including air freight from Taiwan and other origins, managing carrier and freight forwarder selection and delivery execution to ensure on-time, damage-free arrival at European sites. • Handle all RMA and RMS shipments, including coordination with vendors, carriers, and internal teams to ensure accurate and timely processing. • Manage equipment transfers between company warehouses and data center facilities across Europe, optimising routes and minimising handling risk. • Maintain full visibility over active shipments across all lanes and proactively resolve transit issues, delays, or exceptions. • Develop contingency plans and alternative routing strategies to ensure business continuity. • Manage time-critical air freight shipments where required, including carrier selection, booking, and end-to-end tracking to ensure expedited delivery of hardware. Coordination & Documentation • Coordinate closely with data center operations teams to support staging, buffering, and just-in- time hardware deployment. • Maintain accurate in-transit inventory records and ensure proper chain-of-custody documentation for all shipments. • Manage all shipment-related documentation in relevant systems (Jira, TMS, or equivalent), ensuring records are complete, accurate, and audit-ready. • Manage customs documentation and clearance processes for all cross-border shipments, including inbound from Taiwan, transfers within Europe, and shipments to and from Israel. • Process and reconcile logistics invoices; manage payments for transportation operations, including ZIP payments to the appropriate vendors and partners. • Work with the security team to establish and maintain secure shipment protocols and ensure compliance with physical security requirements. Compliance & Quality • Ensure all shipments comply with applicable regulations — including EU transport and customs requirements for domestic European moves, EU import/export regulations for international freight, and relevant cross-border trade compliance requirements for shipments involving Israel. • Manage VAT, duties, and customs declarations for inbound and outbound international shipments in line with EU regulations. • Maintain audit-ready documentation for all logistics activities, supporting internal (SOX) and external compliance requirements. • Establish and enforce SLAs and KPIs with freight carriers, forwarders, and 3PL partners; drive accountability through regular performance reviews. • Identify and escalate compliance gaps or process deviations, implementing corrective actions as needed. Cross-Functional Collaboration • Partner with hardware engineering, procurement, finance, and data center operations to align logistics execution with deployment timelines and business priorities. • Collaborate with OEM suppliers (e.g., Giga, ASUS), primarily based in Taiwan, to coordinate international shipping windows, batch tracking, customs documentation, and inbound scheduling into European facilities. • Coordinate with teams and partners in Israel to manage inbound and outbound shipments, ensuring compliance with applicable import/export requirements. • Act as the primary escalation point for European transport-related issues across internal teams and external partners. • Drive continuous improvement initiatives through KPI tracking, root cause analysis, and process standardisation. Planning & Cost Management • Forecast transportation demand based on data center expansion plans, hardware deployment schedules, and capacity needs across European and international lanes. • Identify cost optimisation opportunities through carrier consolidation, routing improvements, and smarter scheduling. • Track and report on logistics costs across all lanes, flagging variances and recommending corrective actions. • Support data-driven decision-making through regular reporting, dashboards, and operational analytics. Requirements • 5+ years of experience in transportation, freight, or logistics management — ideally within technology, data center, or hardware supply chain environments. • Proven experience managing both domestic European and international freight operations, including LTL/FTL, and air freight shipments, carrier and forwarder relationships, and 3PL coordination. • Solid understanding of EU customs regulations, import/export procedures, and cross-border trade compliance within Europe and with non-EU countries. • Experience managing shipments to or from Israel is an advantage; familiarity with relevant customs and trade compliance requirements is a plus. • Hands-on experience with RMA/RMS shipment processes and reverse logistics flows. • Familiarity with TMS platforms, Jira, or similar systems used for shipment tracking and documentation. • Experience managing large, heavy, or high-value freight (server racks, IT infrastructure equipment) is strongly preferred. • Excellent organisational and documentation skills with a high standard for accuracy and completeness. • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills; ability to work cross-functionally across technical and non-technical teams in an international environment. • Self-starter mindset with the ability to operate independently in a remote environment. • Based in Europe; Amsterdam preferred, other EU locations considered. The role The EOR Payroll specialist owns the Payroll for employees engaged through the company’s Employer of Record (EOR) providers (Deel, Oyster and Ontop). The role sits in Employee Payables and mirrors the direct-hire operating model: HR Ops owns the employee lifecycle, contracting, case management. This role owns pay-data review, first-line review and sign-off of each run, review of payroll-service invoices and approval within delegated limits, funding requests to Treasury, equity (RSU) payroll execution and reconciliation, cost allocation and financial controls. Your responsibilities will include: Own the monthly EOR payroll cycle across all providers and countries: maintain the payroll calendar and provider cut-offs, receive final, locked pay data from HR Ops via the agreed ticket hand-off, review it for completeness and accuracy, and gather input data ahead of each deadline. Consolidate data from non-HR Ops sources. Review and sign off each run: investigate variances against the prior period and expected movements, confirm pay elements are in line with company policy, resolve exceptions with HR Ops and the provider. Lead the transfer of EOR payroll from HR Ops into Employee Payables team for the January 2027 go-live: Finance access rights in Deel, Oyster and Ontop, new or updated controls, expense and equity services, and a readiness check before go-live. Fund and execute: review payroll invoices (payroll costs plus markup, separated from expense and service fees) and approve them within delegated limits, with the Head of Global Payroll Operations approving above those limits. Prepare funding requests, obtain Treasury approvals, ensure Treasury funds providers on time in the required currencies, and confirm downstream payments made by EOR providers to employees. Reconcile and close: reconcile payroll and RSU balances in BlackLine, allocate payroll costs in NetSuite, and keep journals, accruals and reversals consistent with direct-hire payroll. Operate controls and monitor compliance: apply segregation of duties (preparer, approver and payer separated). Obtain confirmation from each EOR that statutory employee payroll and tax reporting has been executed, and follow up any exceptions. Run year-end and annual statutory cycles: maintain a year-end calendar per provider and country (calendar and non-calendar tax years), reconcile year-to-date pay, tax and RSU balances per employee and provider, obtain annual statements and year-end confirmations from each EOR, and clear year-end accruals. Own EOR equity payroll: collate RSU inputs by provider cut-off using vesting data from Total Reward team or the broker, ensure correct withholding, per agreed positions with EOR providers, and employer tax reporting, and reconcile EOR RSU balances each cycle. Help consolidate to one preferred EOR vendor: assess providers on payroll accuracy, cost, controls and integration, support vendor selection and contracting from the Finance side, and lead the payroll migration of employees and balances together with HR Ops. Invoicing: Support review and approvals of EOR providers’ service fees for payroll related services. Reconcile invoices/charges against payroll services rendered. Drive harmonization and vendor performance: standard templates, cadences and controls across providers; SLAs, invoice accuracy and root-cause fixes for recurring failures. Full use of provider reporting and NetSuite integrations. Documented procedures so the wider team can cover the cycle. Operate with a continuous improvement mindset. Act as Finance escalation owner for complex EOR payroll and equity matters and partner with HR Ops, the Expense team, Treasury, Reward, Accounting and the providers. HR Ops retains employee-facing case management and disputes. We expect you to have: 7+ years of payroll experience, including multi-country payroll run through EOR, PEO or outsourced providers in complex, changing environments. Hands-on experience on the client/Finance side of outsourced payroll: data review, variance analysis, run approval, invoice approval, funding and payment confirmation across providers, countries and currencies. Strong payroll accounting and reconciliation skills (journals, accruals, cost allocations, balance sheet reconciliations). Experience with NetSuite and BlackLine or comparable tools. Strong controllership: designs and operates controls, enforces segregation of duties and approval limits, and produces audit-ready evidence. Working knowledge of equity compensation through payroll (RSUs/options): vesting inputs, withholding, employer reporting and reconciliation. Clear understanding of the EOR model (provider as legal employer, markup and fee structures, provider-executed compliance, client responsibilities) and proven ability to lead provider, system or ownership transitions. Able to escalate issues or risks to leadership. Excellent stakeholder management across HR, Finance and external providers; fluent English (Dutch not required). It will be an added bonus if you have: Direct experience with Deel, Oyster or Ontop. Experience with EOR vendor consolidation or migration, and with Treasury processes (payment approvals, multi-currency funding, FX). Experience operating payroll controls in a SOX-compliant, US-listed company environment. Deeper equity payroll experience, including cross-border cases and trailing tax liabilities. Competencies & Behavioral Traits: Systems thinking: redesigns the process so it scales across providers and countries, rather than adding checks and manual work. Bias for prevention and controllership: anticipates issues at cut-offs and hand-offs, builds guardrails, and treats evidence and segregation of duties as part of the work. Influence without authority; aligns HR Ops, Finance, Treasury, Reward and providers around standards. Comfortable with ambiguity and change; makes decisions with incomplete information during the ownership transition and vendor consolidation. Reliability and ownership: keeps every EOR payroll cycle on time across providers, time zones and currencies, and builds EOR know-how beyond a single person.
