Come join us and help shape a safer, simpler digital future. As Director, Analytics Engineering, you’ll lead the roadmap, architecture, and team responsible for the trusted data foundations that power 1Password’s business. By building reliable data foundations for Artificial Intelligence (AI), you’ll help advance 1Password’s mission to create a safer, simpler digital future. Reporting to the VP, Data Analytics, this role is remote within the United States and Canada. How we’re using AI today On the Finance team, we’re using AI to drive productivity, scale insight, and deliver better decision-making across 1Password. AI helps us move faster and sharpen our thinking, from summarizing context and pressure-testing assumptions to turning complex inputs into clear executive-level narratives. We bring AI into our work thoughtfully, improving repeatable workflows while staying accountable for the accuracy, confidentiality, and controls behind every output, creating space to focus on judgement, strategic partnership, and meaningful business outcomes. This is a remote opportunity within Canada and the US. What we're looking for: • Significant experience in data engineering, analytics engineering, or data architecture, including experience leading and developing teams. • Strong Structured Query Language (SQL) and dbt experience, including advanced data modeling, incremental processing, testing, documentation, and multi-environment deployment. • Deep knowledge of dimensional modeling, such as Kimball or star schema approaches, applied in complex Business-to-Business (B2B) Software as a Service (SaaS) environments. • Experience with modern cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, Databricks, BigQuery, or Redshift, including decisions related to performance, cost, and scale. • Experience establishing semantic layer strategies and trusted metric definitions across an organization. • Ability to translate complex business priorities into a clear data platform roadmap and communicate effectively with senior stakeholders. • Experience with Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery (CI/CD), orchestration tools such as Airflow, Dagster, or Prefect, and AI-assisted analytics engineering workflows. What you can expect: • Own the vision, roadmap, and execution for 1Password’s analytics engineering function, including core data models, semantic layers, Business Intelligence (BI) tooling, and pipeline infrastructure. • Hire, manage, and develop analytics engineers while establishing clear career ladders, leveling expectations, and performance practices. • Set standards for data modeling, testing, documentation, code review, deployment, and data quality. • Stay close to the technical work by reviewing complex dbt models, optimizing SQL, and helping troubleshoot high-priority pipeline issues. • Serve as a senior technical partner on data modeling and metric governance, ensuring definitions are consistent, trusted, and well documented. • Partner with leaders across Data Engineering, Analytics, Finance, Marketing, Product, and Go To Market (GTM) teams to turn business needs into a prioritized roadmap. • Build governed, reliable data foundations that support company-wide decision-making, AI initiatives, and Generative BI experiences. USA-based roles only: The annual base salary for this role is between $204,000 USD and $306,000 USD, plus immediate participation in 1Password's benefits program (health, dental, 401k and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs. Canada-based roles only: The annual base salary for this role is between $200,000 CAD and $300,000 CAD, plus immediate participation in 1Password’s generous benefits program (health, dental, RRSP and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs. At 1Password, we approach each individual's compensation with a promise of fair market value and internal equity commensurate with experience and specific skill set. We need people who are keen to take on challenging problems, who seek feedback to grow, and who are driven to make an impact. If you're looking for a place where you can settle into a comfortable routine, this might not be the right fit for you. We’re looking for individuals who are proven experts in their fields, as well as those who are highly adaptable, can thrive in ambiguity and through change, are curious, and above all deliver results. How we work with AI We are committed to leveraging cutting-edge technology—including AI—to achieve our mission. We also understand that thinking critically about AI in its current forms will help us create better solutions for our customers and ourselves with its future forms, which will help us continue to close the gap between security and privacy and achieve our mission. We want team members at all levels to take the approach of actively learning AI best practices, identifying opportunities to apply AI in meaningful ways, and driving innovative solutions in their daily work. Embracing the future of AI isn't just encouraged—it's an essential part of how we will be successful at 1Password. This approach extends to our hiring process—candidates are welcome to use AI tools responsibly and thoughtfully during the application process. Location: Remote - Canada What We’re Building Honeycomb is a service for the near and present future, defining observability and raising expectations of what developer tools can do! We’re working with well known companies like HelloFresh, Slack, LaunchDarkly, and Vanguard and more across a range of industries. This is an exciting time in our trajectory, we’ve closed Series D funding, scaled past the 200-person mark, and were named to Forbes’ America’s Best Startups of 2022 and 2023! If you want to see what we’ve been up to, please check out these blog posts and Honeycomb.io press releases . Who We Are We come for the impact, and stay for the culture! We’re a talented, opinionated, passionate, fiercely inclusive, and responsible group of bees. We have conviction and we strive to live our values every day. We want our people to do what they truly love amongst a team of highly talented (but humble) peers. How We Work We are a fully distributed company, which means we believe it is not where you sit, but how you deliver that matters most. We invest in our people and care about how you orient to our culture and processes. At the same time we imbue a lot of trust, autonomy, and accountability from Day 1. #LI-Remote Little more about the team: The Storage Team at Honeycomb is the backbone of our platform, responsible for the performance, reliability, and scalability of storing and querying billions of events. We design and own the architecture that powers correct and dependable query results — enabling every product experience from Metrics to Triggers and SLOs. As a senior engineer on Storage, you’ll work on high-impact systems where our customers may never see your code directly, but they’ll rely on it every time they use Honeycomb. What you’ll do in the role: Build and deliver high-quality solutions. You will design and implement solutions that power Honeycomb’s query and data storage infrastructure. Whether it’s improving query performance, evolving the Retriever service, or making our storage layer more reliable, you’re eager to jump in and add value where the team needs it most. Scope and deliver projects independently. You’re comfortable breaking down complex storage and querying problems into achievable steps, surfacing trade-offs, and pulling in teammates when needed. You take ownership end-to-end — from design to production support — reducing toil and ensuring our systems deliver measurable customer and business impact. Collaborate with cross-functional partners. You’ll work closely with Product Management and other engineering teams to connect technical solutions to product needs, from problem discovery through solution design and delivery. Much of our work is behind the scenes, but it enables every Honeycomb product experience, from Metrics to Triggers and SLOs. Support our services in production. We believe in owning the software we build. Every engineer on Storage participates in on-call rotations, helps define team KPIs and SLOs, and proactively reduces toil by addressing reliability challenges before they reach customers. Learn new ways to solve complex problems. As Honeycomb grows, so do the challenges of scaling our systems. You will explore new technologies, data storage techniques, and query optimization strategies to keep performance and reliability strong at scale. Thrive on collaboration. You enjoy pairing, reviewing code, and offering constructive feedback. You model strong ownership and help your teammates grow, while keeping conversations forward-looking and focused on business value. What you’ll bring to the role: Technical leadership in storage and querying. You’ve led the design of patterns and guidelines that improve performance and reliability, and you bring expertise in writing Go along with experience working on high-throughput or complex systems. Prior experience with database engineering is a plus, as is comfort with Kubernetes. Curiosity and experimentation. You learn by digging in — individually, in pairs, or as a team. You ask questions to better understand complex systems, explore trade-offs, and believe in learning from incidents as a way to improve both technology and practices. Focus on business outcomes. You tie technical decisions to customer and company impact, weighing whether work is necessary now or later, and considering how projects affect the broader business. Strength in mentorship and teamwork. You guide engineers through code reviews and help spread knowledge across a team with diverse skillsets so that ownership of critical paths is shared, not siloed. Resilience in collaboration. You thrive in a senior-heavy team, giving and receiving feedback with grace, and contributing to a culture where tough problems and hard conversations lead to better outcomes. Execution with impact. You can scope and deliver complex, multi-team projects while balancing production realities, proactively reducing toil, and ensuring systems deliver measurable customer value. Deep debugging expertise. You’re trusted to diagnose and resolve the toughest production issues across the stack, restoring reliability where others may be stuck. Influence beyond your team. You multiply impact by sharing knowledge, guiding adoption of new technologies, and driving foundational work that benefits Honeycomb engineering as a whole. Base Salary based on level of experience $250,000 — $280,000 CAD What you'll get when you join the Hive: A stake in our success - generous equity with employee-friendly stock program It’s not about how strong of a negotiator you are - our pay is based on transparent levels relative to experience Time to recharge with unlimited PTO A distributed-first mindset and culture (really!) Home office, co-working, and internet stipend Full benefits coverage for employees, with additional coverage available for dependents Up to 16 weeks of paid parental leave, regardless of path to parenthood Annual development allowance And much more... Additionally, in compliance with applicable law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work. Phishing and Recruitment Scam Warning: We take your security seriously. Over 180,000 businesses, from Fortune 100 leaders to the world’s most innovative AI companies, trust 1Password to help their teams securely adopt the SaaS and AI tools they need to do their best work. If you're excited about the opportunity to contribute to the digital safety of millions, to work alongside a team of curious, driven individuals, and to solve hard problems in a fast-paced, dynamic environment, then we want to hear from you. Come join us and help shape a safer, simpler digital future. We're hiring a Senior Developer Advocate to be the face and voice of 1Password's developer story — especially our push into identity and access control for AI agents. You'll build hands-on demos and videos that show developers exactly how to use 1Password, carry that content into a genuine presence on Reddit and X, grow the community around it, and represent 1Password on stage at major developer conferences. You'll report to the Director of Developer Relations as an individual contributor. How we’re using AI today Our Engineering, Product, and Design teams are thoughtfully integrating AI across the full software and product development lifecycle to move faster without sacrificing quality or security. In practice, that looks like engineers using AI-assisted coding tools to accelerate reviews and catch bugs earlier, product managers synthesizing user research at scale, and designers rapidly prototyping and iterating with AI-generated mockups. We approach AI the same way we approach security: with clear principles, human accountability at every consequential decision point, and rigorous evaluation before anything ships to customers. What You'll Do - Build demos and videos. Hands-on, code-first demos and short-form videos showing developers how to use 1Password — particularly for securing AI agents, service accounts, and machine identities. - Build a social presence. Own and grow 1Password's developer voice on Reddit, Youtube and X — daily posting, engaging in threads, answering questions, participating authentically in developer communities. - Represent us at conferences. Speak at and represent 1Password at major developer conferences (AWS re:Invent, KubeCon, and others), turning in-person moments into demos, clips, and content that keep working after the talk ends. - Shape open source strategy. Prioritize and guide what 1Password open sources — SDKs, integrations, MCP servers/tools — and how that drives developer trust and adoption. - Create supporting content. Blog posts, tutorials, and reference code that give developers something to copy, fork, and ship. - Build community. Turn one-off engagement into an ongoing developer community — repeat contributors, recurring conversations, people who show up because they trust the voice, not just the content. What We're Looking For - Technical fluency: 5+ years in technical roles (software/platform engineering, developer advocacy, solutions engineering, or similar). Comfortable writing real code for demos, not just narrating slides. - Existing X, Youtube or Reddit presence as a technical voice, with a track record and an audience. - Agent-building experience: Hands-on experience building AI agents and working with MCP (Model Context Protocol). - Content production skills: Can conceive, script, build, and edit demo videos and short-form content. - Community-building experience: Has grown a developer community from scratch or materially expanded one — not just posted into an existing audience. - Open source judgment: Experience contributing to or maintaining open source projects. - Public speaking: Experience speaking at major developer conferences (re:Invent, KubeCon, or similar). - Communication: Strong written and verbal skills. Bonus points: - Experience with security-conscious developer communities or products (identity, auth, DevSecOps). - Contributions to or maintenance of MCP servers, agent frameworks, or related open source tooling. USA-based roles only: The annual base salary for this role is between $133,000 USD and $186,000 USD, plus immediate participation in 1Password's benefits program (health, dental, 401k and many others), utilization of our generous paid time off, an equity grant and, where applicable, participation in our incentive programs. At 1Password, we approach each individual's compensation with a promise of fair market value and internal equity commensurate with experience and specific skill set. This posting is for an existing vacancy. Our culture At 1Password, we prioritize collaboration, clear and transparent communication, receptiveness to feedback, and alignment with our core values: keep it simple, lead with honesty, and put people first. You’ll be part of a team that challenges the status quo, and is excited to experiment and iterate in search of the best solution. That said, 1Password is not for everyone https://blog.1password.com/inside-the-culture-powering-1passwords-next-chapter/. Our work is demanding, we strive for excellence, and the pace is fast. Embracing the future of AI isn't just encouraged—it's an essential part of how we will be successful at 1Password. This approach extends to our hiring process—candidates are welcome to use AI tools responsibly and thoughtfully during the application process. Our approach to remote work We believe in the power of remote work, but recognize that in-person connection is important to help us achieve our mission. While we are a remote-first company, travel for in-person engagement is a part of almost all roles, and we require our employees to be ready and willing to take part. Frequency will depend on role and responsibilities, and may include, but is not limited to: annual department-wide offsites, team meetings, and customer/industry events. Be yourself, find your people and share the things you love. Accommodation is available upon request at any point during our recruitment process. If you require an accommodation, please speak to your talent acquisition partner or email us at nextbit@agilebits.com and we’ll work to meet your needs. Remote work is a part of our DNA. Given that our company was founded remotely in 2005, we can safely say we're experts at building remote culture. That said, remote work at 1Password does mean working from your home country. Location: Remote - United States What We’re Building Honeycomb is a service for the near and present future, defining observability and raising expectations of what developer tools can do! #LI-Remote Little more about the team: Talent Acquisition at Honeycomb builds the teams behind our observability platform. As a Senior Technical Recruiter, you'll run a full desk of priority R&D searches and act as the talent advisor Hiring Managers call before they open a req, not after. You'll report to the Head of TA, partner directly with R&D leadership, and own how hiring gets done on your desk from intake to accepted offer. We're remote-first and give you real trust and autonomy from day one, so you'll shape how we hire as we scale. What you’ll do in the role: Own full-cycle searches for R&D/ Technical focused roles, from intake to offer acceptance, and deliver diverse, well-vetted slates on target timelines. Manage a full desk of priority reqs, keep candidates moving within our hiring SLAs, and keep Greenhouse data clean without being chased. This includes sourcing, interviewing, reviwing applicants, scheduling etc. Advise Hiring Managers on search strategy and leveling, using market data, pipeline analytics, and compensation benchmarks to shape decisions rather than only carry them out. Build lasting advisory relationships with your Business Unit leaders: align stakeholders on a shared plan, guide debate to a decision, and explain the reasoning once it's made. Partner with the Head of TA to turn approved headcount into recruiting plans, and flag risks early with a proposed fix. Own the implementation of our competency-based hiring process by building Greenhouse scorecards, running interviewer kick-offs, and facilitating structured debriefs. Use DEI sourcing tactics that broaden representation and improve quality of hire. Analyze funnel metrics in Greenhouse and Gem, share what you learn with stakeholders, and improve the process, including cross-functional TA projects like interviewer enablement and candidate-experience NPS. What you’ll bring to the role: Full-cycle recruiting experience in high-growth tech, with a track record of filling senior engineering IC and first-line manager roles. Experience running a full desk of concurrent reqs while holding to clear SLAs and quality standards. A history of acting as a talent advisor, where you turned funnel and compensation data into recommendations that changed hiring decisions. Hands-on experience with structured interviewing and ATS (scorecards, reporting, scheduling workflows). Measurable results from DEI sourcing and fair-assessment practices. Crisp written updates, plus experience facilitating productive kick-offs, debriefs, and pipeline reviews. Comfort having direct, kind conversations with Hiring Managers about candidates, leveling, or process, in line with Honeycomb's values of Ownership, Feedback Is a Muscle, and Kind Candor. Experience in a remote-first, fast-changing environment, and a habit of mentoring peers and improving process as you go. Nice to haves: Experience with Competency based hiring Experience utilizing AI to help make process improvements Preferred experience with Greenhouse In-house recruiting experience strongly preferred Base Salary based on level of experience $140,000 — $165,000 USD What you'll get when you join the Hive: A stake in our success - generous equity with employee-friendly stock program It’s not about how strong of a negotiator you are - our pay is based on transparent levels relative to experience Time to recharge with unlimited PTO A distributed-first mindset and culture (really!) Home office, co-working, and internet stipend Full benefits coverage for employees, with additional coverage available for dependents Up to 16 weeks of paid parental leave, regardless of path to parenthood Annual development allowance And much more... Please note we cannot currently sponsor or support visa transfers at this time. Additionally, in compliance with applicable law, all persons hired will be required to verify identity and eligibility to work. Phishing and Recruitment Scam Warning: We take your security seriously. Please be aware that recruitment scams are increasingly common and scammers may create email addresses or websites to impersonate Honeycomb employees. To help protect you: All communications will come from an @honeycomb.io email address We occasionally work with external recruiting agencies. These partners will use legitimate business email addresses— never personal accounts like Gmail or Yahoo . Our recruiting process will never ask you to provide financial or sensitive personal information, including but not limited to: Social security or tax identification numbers Credit card numbers Bank account information Diversity & Accommodations: We're committed to building a diverse, inclusive, and equitable workplace—where people of all backgrounds, identities, experiences, and abilities are welcomed, valued, and supported. We recognize that there is no single path to success and embrace nontraditional career journeys and diverse perspectives as key to building stronger, more innovative teams. We strive to ensure an inclusive experience throughout every stage of our hiring process and are happy to provide reasonable accommodations as needed. If you require accommodations or accessible formats at any point during our hiring process, please let your recruiter know. Beyond your own book, you raise the bar for the team through mentorship, playbook contributions, and peer enablement. How we’re using AI today Across GTM, we’re transforming the way we work with AI. We expect every seller, CSM, and team member to become a power user, using it daily to work smarter and move faster. AI is already embedded in how we operate – from real-time coaching that sharpens how we sell and interact with customers, to surfacing insights that help us anticipate needs – creating more time for meaningful customer engagement. If you’re excited to reshape how you think, make decisions, and drive growth with AI, you’ll feel right at home here. This is a remote opportunity within the UK. Note: All go-to market roles will have an in-person onboarding in Toronto. What you can expect: OWN AND GROW YOUR BOOK OF BUSINESS - Independently manage a portfolio of moderately to highly complex accounts – adapting success plans to each customer’s context without manager guidance. - Maintain full success plan coverage; produce documented best practices and playbooks, applied broadly across accounts with measurable KPI improvement. - Proactively identify and mitigate renewal risks; close risk CTAs with a high rate of success within defined timeframes. DRIVE ADOPTION & VALUE REALIZATION - Achieve strong Executive Sponsor attendance in EBRs across segments; EBRs are value-driven, data-backed, and consistently advance renewal confidence. - Maintain commercial intelligence across strategic accounts – budget cycles, org changes, compliance mandates, and stack rationalization. - Translate advanced 1Password capabilities into clear outcomes for VP and C-suite stakeholders; tie adoption to measurable ROI and long-term advocacy. LEAD REVENUE RETENTION & EXPANSION - Achieve strong amendment and renewal upsell win rates; proactively source and advance expansion opportunities with documented context. - Maintain forecasting hygiene with minimal blank or unmodified renewals approaching subscription end. OPERATE WITH STRATEGIC RIGOR - Manage commercial objections, renewal negotiations, and competitive conversations independently – without escalation for standard to complex scenarios. - Build and present business cases to customer champions; advance deals with enough depth to move through the pipeline with AE alignment. ACT AS A TRUSTED SECURITY ADVISOR - Deep working knowledge of the full 1Password product suite; design tailored success journeys connecting feature adoption to measurable business outcomes. - Incorporate regulatory context, breach patterns, and competitive dynamics into EBRs with confidence. - Design and share AI-assisted workflows with teammates in a replicable, documented format. COLLABORATE & ENABLE - Lead joint account planning with your AE; cited by AEs as a proactive commercial collaborator who improves deal outcomes. - Mentor Level B CSMs through call shadowing, ad hoc coaching, or onboarding support. - Lead or co-lead cross-team initiatives; contribute tools or improvements adopted by peers. MONTH 1 – ONBOARDING & FOUNDATION - Develop fluency in 1Password’s full product suite, CS methodology, and commercial motion. - By the end of Month 1, you will independently manage customer touchpoints and demonstrate clear understanding of renewal drivers across your portfolio. MONTH 3 – PORTFOLIO OWNERSHIP - Full ownership of your book with consistent EBR cadence and expansion sourcing. - By Month 3, you are meeting key performance targets and expansion leads are flowing to Sales with documented context. That said, 1Password is not for everyone https://blog.1password.com/inside-the-culture-powering-1passwords-next-chapter/. Our work is demanding, we strive for excellence, and the pace is fast. How we work with AI We are committed to leveraging cutting-edge technology—including AI—to achieve our mission. Embracing the future of AI isn't just encouraged—it's an essential part of how we will be successful at 1Password. This approach extends to our hiring process—candidates are welcome to use AI tools responsibly and thoughtfully during the application process. To us, this means we do ask that you join live interviews without using AI tools so we can get to know how you communicate, solve problems, and collaborate with others. We recognize that certain roles benefit from regular, in-person connection to support collaboration, team cohesion, and customer engagement. For all roles, occasional travel may be required. This includes things like: department-wide offsites, quarterly department meetings and periodic customer events. These events are typically held in varying locations across Canada, USA and/or EMEA. In leadership roles, you can expect to travel once per month on average. Note: All go-to market roles will have an in-person onboarding in Toronto. What we offer We believe in working hard, and rewarding that hard work through our benefits. While not an exhaustive list, here is a glance at what we currently offer: Health and wellbeing 👶 Maternity and parental leave top-up programs 🩺 Competitive health benefits 🏝 Generous PTO policy Growth and future 📈 RSU program for most employees 💸 Retirement matching program 🔑 Free 1Password account Community 🤝 Paid volunteer days 🏆 Peer-to-peer recognition through Bonusly 🌎 Remote-first work environment *Some roles in our GTM team are currently being hired for in-person hybrid work in Toronto and Austin.
