About Finom
Finom is a European tech startup headquartered in Amsterdam, and we’re on a journey towards revolutionizing the financial landscape for entrepreneurs worldwide. Our mission is to develop an all-in-one financial B2B solution that integrates banking functions, accounting, financial management, and invoicing into a seamless, mobile-first platform.
We recently closed a €115 million Series C equity round (around $133 million), bringing our total funding to approximately $346 million. This significant investment follows a $105 million growth funding round from General Catalyst, a long-term backer since 2021 known for supporting companies like Airbnb, HubSpot, KAYAK, and Stripe.
Finom's platform goes beyond traditional banking, offering invoicing and a growing suite of features, including AI-enabled accounting, aiming to simplify financial management for entrepreneurs. We're actively expanding our reach across key EU markets like Germany, France, the Netherlands, Italy, and Spain.
At Finom, we’re not just redefining the entrepreneurial experience — we’re empowering our employees to make a real difference. Your work matters, and your impact extends far beyond product metrics. We nurture innovation and an inspiring work environment where bold ideas thrive, prioritizing thorough research, swift implementation of solutions, and ensuring that every effort we make benefits our users, employees, partners, and our business as a whole.
Maintaining our start-up spirit, we prioritize thorough research, swift implementation of solutions, and ensuring that every effort we make benefits our users, employees, partners, and, of course, our business.
We're looking for a Senior Backend Engineer who thinks like a product builder, thrives in a collaborative, cross-functional environment, and is passionate about creating robust, scalable financial infrastructure. You'll be part of a domain team where various engineering crafts (Backend, Frontend, Mobile, ML/AI engineers, and QA) work together to own and evolve a shared product area that delivers real value to hundreds of thousands of businesses across Europe.
About You and What You'll Do:
You're pragmatic, learn quickly, and have a proven track record of shipping products that matter. You communicate clearly across disciplines and genuinely enjoy the dynamics of a cross-functional team where everyone contributes to solving the same customer problems. Above all, you're curious – about the product, the users, the business, and how your technical decisions impact all three.
As a product-minded backend engineer, you don't just implement tickets. You understand the "why" behind what you're building, challenge assumptions when needed, and proactively identify opportunities to create better outcomes. You're comfortable discussing trade-offs with product managers, explaining technical constraints to business stakeholders, and collaborating with frontend and mobile engineers to design elegant end-to-end solutions.
You have deep expertise in .NET and C# with a strong appreciation for maintainable, scalable code, and distributed architectures. But more importantly, you know when to apply that expertise and when simpler solutions serve the product better. You've built data-intensive applications before and understand the concepts of working in a regulated environment.
You take ownership not just of your code, but of the outcomes. You move without being prompted, whether that's jumping into a customer issue, improving team processes, or mentoring colleagues. You're curious about adjacent domains – you might peek at the frontend code, ask questions about the ML models, or dive into analytics to understand how features perform.
Quality is non-negotiable for you. Automated testing, thorough code reviews, and security best practices are fundamental to how you work. You balance technical excellence with pragmatism, always keeping the end user and business goals in mind.
Your experience includes:
At least 5 years of professional backend development with a product engineering mindset
Excellent knowledge of .NET platform and C#
Hands-on experience architecting and evolving distributed systems in production
Proven ability to collaborate effectively with product managers, designers, and engineers from other disciplines
Strong business acumen – you understand how your work connects to company objectives
Clear, concise communication in English across technical and non-technical audiences
A builder's mentality: you care deeply about shipping great products, not just writing great code
Our tech stack
Backend: .NET/C#, PostgreSQL, Redis, RabbitMQ, Kafka, Kubernetes, GCP.
You'll work alongside teams using React (Web), Swift (iOS) / Kotlin (Android), Python/ML frameworks, and modern test automation tools (Playwright, Appium).

You’ll simplify complex workflows, contribute to product strategy, and design scalable systems that strengthen the relationship between users and Figma—always with a strong sense of craft and user advocacy.
This opportunity applies to openings of varying seniority levels across our Monetization and Growth teams. We’ll discuss more specifics about open roles during the interview process.

Great attention to detail and a strong eye for visual craft, such as composition, typography, and layout
Fluency in interaction design and prototyping, to express and refine nuanced design decisions
A track record of independently driving design processes from discovery through launch—balancing user needs, technical constraints, and business goals
The ability to guide decision-making with structured thinking, clearly articulated rationale, and user-centered research
Experience designing for multiple user types (e.g., individual users, admins, buyers) or across product tiers
Familiarity with experimentation, metrics, or using data to inform design decisions
While it’s not required, it’s an added plus if you also have:
Experience designing in growth, monetization, or enterprise environments
A generative mindset and excitement for uncovering new opportunities across the product ecosystem

The world of work as we know it is changing, and we're looking for Trailblazers who are passionate about bettering business and the world through AI.
Ready to level up your career at the company leading workforce transformation in the agentic era? You're in the right place. Agentforce is the future of AI, and you are the future of Salesforce.
What's the opportunity?
Fin's AI Group is responsible for defining new ML products, researching appropriate algorithms and technologies, and rapidly getting first prototypes in our customers’ hands.
We are extremely product-focussed. Our team of 50+ ML scientists, ML engineers, designers and researchers works in partnership with other teams across the whole company. We move to production fast, often shipping to beta in weeks after a successful offline test.
We are very passionate about applying machine learning technology, and have productized everything from classic supervised models, to cutting-edge unsupervised clustering algorithms, novel applications of transformer neural networks and fine-tuned LLMs. We test and measure the real customer impact of everything we deploy.
We plan to double in size, and are on the lookout for an experienced manager to manage a team of highly-performing ML scientists. Engineering managers in Fin are not just people managers: they also have a track record of IC contributions, and can stay close to the work of their team. We won’t ask you to write code every day, but you should feel comfortable giving technical advice to your team and having a good deep grasp of what it should (or shouldn’t!) work on (and maybe even do an occasional code review or a PR).
What will I be doing?
Managing, mentoring and coaching a team of 10+ ML scientists, spread across our three offices in Dublin, London and Berlin.
Collaborating with ML, engineering, product, and design leaders to shape work of the team and the impact it has on our products.
Enabling your team to achieve high levels of productivity, performance and reliability.
Expanding the team and promoting its brand both internally and externally (recruitment, event planning, etc.).
What skills might I need?
Experience leading, developing and supporting ML teams that deliver impact quickly.
A 5+ year track record of your own individual contributions in ML, AI, NLP, or data-related field.
Excellent applied ML and coding skills.
The ability to thrive in an ambiguous environment with a high degree of autonomy.
Strong communication skills, both within technical teams and across disciplines.
MSc or PhD in an ML-related field, or similar knowledge.
Bonus skills & attributes
Track record shipping ML user-facing products.
Experience in a research environment.
Deep experience in an applicable ML area - e.g. NLP, Deep learning, Bayesian methods, Reinforcement learning, clustering.
Data skills: visualization, SQL etc.
Deep knowledge of software engineering practices.
Experience in recruiting ML scientists in a capacity similar to a hiring manager.
