About the Role
We are seeking an experienced
Executive Assistant
to join our CEO Office and serve as a critical operational partner to the CEO, Chief of Staff, and senior leadership while owning the day-to-day workplace operations of our San Jose headquarters.
This is not a typical Executive Assistant position. You will be embedded within our CEO Office, working directly with the CEO and Chief of Staff as a critical operational partner in a high-velocity environment. You'll manage a diverse portfolio spanning executive support, office operations, product review logistics, and cross-functional coordination. This role requires someone who thrives in ambiguity, exercises impeccable judgment, and can shift seamlessly between strategic projects and hands-on execution.
You will be embedded within the CEO Office and serve as an operational backbone that keeps both executive priorities and the San Jose workplace running smoothly. On any given day, you might manage a complex executive calendar across global time zones, coordinate an international trip, prepare for a CEO product review, resolve an office issue with WeWork, manage an insurance renewal, oversee assets inventory, or execute a company offsite partnering with People team.
This role is ideal for someone who combines the judgment, responsiveness, and anticipation of an exceptional Executive Assistant with the ownership and operational mindset of a Workplace Manager. You are comfortable shifting between highly confidential executive matters and hands-on operational execution, and you naturally create structure, systems, and order wherever they are needed.
Given the nature of this role, you will have access to highly confidential and sensitive company information.
Discretion, sound judgment, and professionalism are non-negotiable.
Key Responsibilities
CEO Office & Executive Support
Manage complex scheduling for internal and external meetings for the CEO Office across global time zones
Coordinate domestic and international travel arrangements and executive logistics for the CEO Office
Conduct product research based on CEO's requests to support leadership decision-making
Coordinate executive demo preparation logistics with Content Ops, Marketing, and Business, including procurement, research, and packing lists
Coordinate product review meetings, including agendas, pre-meeting materials, attendees, and follow-up actions
Maintain robust tracking systems for CEO Office requests, action items, decisions, and follow-ups, ensuring clear ownership, status visibility, and timely closure
Provide flexible, responsive support in a fast-paced environment with variable hours
Workplace Administration
Serve as the on-site office administration point of contact for the San Jose office, including supporting executive workspace needs and on-site meetings
Serve as day-to-day liaison with WeWork community management for facilities, access, and general office needs
Manage office supplies, mail, and general workplace administration
Support logistics for CEO Office events and external meetings (venue/vendor sourcing, agenda and presentation coordination), partnering with People on company-wide events and employee experience programming
What You Bring
Required Qualifications
5+ years of experience as an Executive Assistant, Executive Business Partner, or in a similar executive support role
, ideally with additional experience in workplace, office, or business operations within a technology company, startup, or rapidly scaling organization.
Proven experience directly supporting C-level executives or senior leadership in a high-touch, fast-paced environment.
Demonstrated experience supporting or owning workplace and office operations, including facilities, vendors, events, and administrative processes.
Proven ability to handle highly confidential and sensitive information with exceptional discretion and professionalism.
Exceptional organizational skills with an almost obsessive attention to order and detail.
Track record of building and maintaining organized systems for requests, action items, follow-ups, documentation, and information flow—ensuring nothing gets lost, delayed, or forgotten across multiple workstreams.
Strong experience managing multiple priorities, stakeholders, deadlines, and shifting priorities simultaneously.
Experience managing vendors, budgets, procurement, and operational projects.
Experience with or exposure to hardware/IT asset inventory and lifecycle management.
Familiarity with corporate insurance programs, renewals, certificates of insurance, and claims administration.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency in Google Workspace, Slack, Notion, presentation tools, and other modern workplace technology.
Ability to work on-site in San Jose and provide flexible, responsive support when business needs require it.
Who You Are
Exceptionally organized.
You bring
Marie Kondo energy
to everything from calendars and documentation systems to hardware inventories, event logistics, and physical workspaces. Chaos doesn't stand a chance around you.
A systems builder.
You don't just complete tasks—you create intuitive processes that make requests visible, ownership clear, and follow-through reliable.
Anticipatory.
You think several steps ahead and notice what will be needed before someone has to ask.
Hands-on.
You're equally comfortable preparing materials for an executive meeting, organizing a demo kit, coordinating an offsite, or solving an unexpected office issue.
Tech-savvy.
You have a strong interest in technology and actively look for ways to use tools and automation to improve efficiency.
Comfortable with ambiguity.
You are unfazed by changing priorities and don't need a playbook for every situation.
Resourceful.
When you don't immediately know the answer, you know how to find it and keep things moving.
Low-ego and high-accountability.
No task is beneath you, and you take ownership through completion.
Highly adaptable.
You understand that supporting a CEO Office in a fast-growing startup requires flexibility. Priorities can change quickly, and this is not always a predictable 9-to-5 role.

About GiveDirectly
What if the most effective way to fight poverty was also the simplest: give people money and trust them to decide what they need?
Since 2011, GiveDirectly has proven that idea at scale. We’ve delivered more than $1B in cash directly to 2+ million people living in poverty and crisis across 15 countries, and rigorous research shows the results: healthier kids, stronger businesses, sturdier homes, and more resilient families and local economies. Cash is now widely recognized as one of the most scalable, cost-effective, and dignified forms of aid.
Our ambition goes beyond our own programs. We want cash to become the benchmark for aid, much as the index fund became the benchmark for investing, so that every aid dollar is held to one question:
is this doing more good than giving the money directly to people living in poverty?
We’re growing fast, and this is a rare and important moment to join.
We expect to hit $1B in revenue in 2026 with significant growth forecast for 2027. At the same time we are building a new technology stack and operating model designed for a roughly 10x change in scale, and we are actively pursuing partnerships with major funders to move even more money in bigger ways, to people who need it. We are known for our extensive integration of technology into field processes; our quantitative approach to performance measurement; and our commitment to rigorous, independent, experimental evaluation of our impact, with multiple Randomized Control Trials completed and others in progress.
How we work
Our team spans 20+ countries and 69 languages. Our culture is candid, analytical, and non-hierarchical. We expect high ownership and give people real responsibility early. Our values are central to how we hire, work, and grow, and they are deliberately opinionated:
Recipients first.
Recipients’ preferences come before those of donors or ourselves.
Team next.
We optimize for organizational success, not individual success.
Be proactively candid.
We say what we believe and share information openly.
Create positive energy.
We aim to be a source of energy for colleagues, not a drain.
Think rigorously; act quickly.
We reason from first principles, then act rather than debate.
Know yourself and grow.
We own our imperfections and seek feedback to grow.
Accept reality. Propose solutions.
We focus on what can change and bring solutions, not just problems.
Be productively ambitious.
We take risks for step-change impact, not incremental progress.
If they describe how you like to work and they energize you, this could be a great fit.

Reports to:
Vice President, Partnerships
Level:
Director (we are open to hiring at Senior Director level for more experienced candidates)
Role overview
GiveDirectly intends to transfer $10B by 2035 while building a resilient, durable cash-first movement in the aid sector.
To reach this milestone, we have brought all fundraising efforts under one leadership, to enable better coordination and optimisation of fundraising streams and operations over time. This unified approach is building a high-performance fundraising team that identifies and secures high-quality leads, while standardizing revenue operations and knowledge-sharing across all verticals, enabling a better donor experience and securing long-term funding to achieve our goals of eliminating extreme poverty and responding better in crisis.
The Director/Senior Director, Revenue Operations will own the operating backbone of the Fundraising function: the data, systems, and processes that let Partnerships, Philanthropy, Individual Giving, and Special Projects run at scale. As we grow our Emergency Cash and US work alongside our work on ending extreme poverty, the candidate will also help ensure fundraising strategies are complementary rather than competing. This is a BizOps-first role. You will build the pipeline infrastructure, KPI architecture, and operating rhythms that make Fundraising's growth predictable and measurable, and you will represent Fundraising to Finance, Compliance, Grants Management, and the People team.
Alongside this, the role carries a chief-of-staff dimension: partnering with the Vice President of Partnership on strategic priorities, high-stakes internal and external communications, and organizational change management, so the VP's time is focused on the highest-impact work.
Depending on the skills and interests of the person we hire, this role may grow to manage a team of 3-5, covering some combination of: fundraising tech and data (e.g. Salesforce), donor experience, and knowledge management. Reflecting our "Team Next" value and commitment to organizational excellence, this person will drive cross-functional collaboration to ensure fundraising operations scale seamlessly alongside our global growth.
Key responsibilities
Own Fundraising's revenue operations: data, systems, and process (primary focus)
Build and own the strategic data and systems architecture for Fundraising: pipeline tracking, annual and in-year forecasting, and reporting infrastructure (e.g. Salesforce) that gives every vertical a single, trustworthy source of truth.
Define, standardize, and own tracking of fit-for-purpose Fundraising KPIs, aligned to Board reporting needs and the team's long-term strategic direction.
Partner with counterparts on Fundraising Data and Tech to prioritize, execute, and approve projects that serve both functions.
Design and institutionalize the operating rhythms of the Fundraising function: pipeline reviews, QBRs, reporting cadences, and the processes that turn strategy into consistent execution.
Develop revenue systems and processes alongside the Finance, Fundraising and Donor Experience teams that support scalable growth, protect donor journeys, and ensure capital moves securely and efficiently through the organization.
Own revenue reconciliation and recognition, pledge and receivable tracking, restricted-fund coding, monthly/annual close handoff, or audit support.
Own workforce and capacity planning for Fundraising in partnership with the VP: role scoping, hiring prioritization, and structural improvements as the team scales.
Build and lead a team as the function matures
As the role grows, manage a team of 3-5 covering fundraising tech and data (e.g. Salesforce), donor experience, and knowledge management, setting priorities, coaching, and ensuring quality across each area.
Set clear ownership and operating cadences across the team so each workstream (tech and data, donor experience, knowledge management) has a defined remit and reduces duplicated effort across Fundraising verticals.
Act as the go-to liaison between Fundraising and other functions
Maintain a comprehensive view of Fundraising needs across all verticals and sub-teams, and act as the single point of contact for Grants Management, Finance, and Compliance on run-rate donor management processes.
Represent Fundraising's operational needs to the People team, Legal, and other functions as cross-functional systems and initiatives are designed and launched.
Partner with the VP on strategy and organizational effectiveness (chief-of-staff functions)
Collaborate with the Vice President to refine the unit's strategy, manage organizational change, and lead internal communications.
Streamline decision-making, manage priorities, and provide strategic counsel to maximize the VP's focus and effectiveness on high-impact work.
Prepare briefing materials and executive-level communications for senior leadership and Board audiences as needed.
Lead on cross-fundraising initiatives and priorities
Address broader organizational priorities as needed, including high-level donor stewardship coordination, cross-functional system launches, flexible workforce planning, or market expansion initiatives.
This role would suit somebody who is comfortable working in a fast-paced environment, who is energized by building systems and structure out of ambiguity, and who enjoys pulling together disparate workstreams into a cohesive, impactful strategy. It's a strong fit for someone with a business operations, revenue operations, or chief-of-staff background who wants a role weighted toward building and owning systems (and, over time, building a team) rather than one focused primarily on executive support.
What we're looking for
8+ years of experience in revenue operations, business operations, or a chief-of-staff role, ideally within a fundraising, sales, or partnerships organization.
Demonstrated experience building or owning CRM/pipeline systems (e.g. Salesforce), KPI frameworks, and reporting infrastructure that multiple teams rely on.
Strong analytical operator: comfortable structuring ambiguity, setting priorities, and using data to drive decisions. An advanced degree (e.g. MBA) is a plus, not a requirement.
Proven track record managing cross-functional relationships and influencing senior stakeholders outside a direct reporting line.
Experience managing people or workstreams, with the ability to scope roles and structure as a function grows; direct people management experience is a plus given this role may build and lead a team of 3-5.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, particularly for high-stakes internal and Board-facing materials.
Deep alignment with GiveDirectly's values, especially recipient choice, transparency, and evidence.
Bonus
Experience working with institutional donors or fundraising teams in Africa.
Experience standing up a BizOps or RevOps function from scratch, including building out a team across tech and data, donor experience, and knowledge management.
Compensation
At GiveDirectly, we strive to pay our employees generously and equitably. We use an accredited third party salary aggregator to calculate what we believe to be competitive pay based on role, location, and cost of living. We also have a no negotiation policy to ensure we are paying staff equitably across roles. Read more about our compensation philosophy

Attio is the CRM for agentic revenue. Designed for the most ambitious go-to-market teams, it gives companies the power to understand every customer, automate at scale, and build their go-to-market motion exactly as they need. We've raised $116M from some of the world's best investors: GV (Google Ventures), Redpoint, Balderton, Point Nine, and 01A.
We hire builders who thrive on complex technical challenges, hold themselves to a high bar, and genuinely care about delighting the people who use what they build. The team here brings sharp judgement, real craft, and the drive to do exceptional work. We're obsessed about the details and energized by the frontier.
If you want to do the best work of your career, this is the right place.
ABOUT THE ROLE
We want every great startup to be using Attio. This role exists to make that happen.
We're looking for someone who has lived the startup journey, knows the ecosystem inside out, and has the relationships and instincts to move fast at the highest level. You'll own Attio's position in the Bay Area entirely - from the programs and partnerships that drive adoption, to the events and content that shape how founders think about Attio, to removing whatever friction stands between a great startup becoming a customer.
You'll operate with founder-level scope and autonomy - working across product, sales, and marketing to remove blockers and do whatever it takes to make Attio the default CRM for the best startups in the world.
The ideal candidate is deeply networked in SF and the broader tech ecosystem, has the pattern recognition of a former founder, VC, or early operator at a generational company, and is senior enough to drive forward and make things happen.
Important Note: We’re approaching this search with some flexibility on title, level, and compensation — our priority is finding the right person, and we’ll shape the role accordingly.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
- Startup dominance - Own the goal of getting every top startup onto Attio, with a relentless focus on YC and top accelerator cohorts, Series A penetration, and logos across the best VC portfolios
- Strategic partnerships - Build deep relationships with the most influential VCs, accelerators, and ecosystem players - not as a channel, but as a genuine partner in how they support their portfolios
- Events + community - Conceive and execute high-impact events - demo days, summits, dinners, hackathons - that bring the best founders together and position Attio at the centre of that world
- Founder relationships - Be personally known and trusted by the founders of the next generation of breakout companies; be their go-to for advice, introductions, and tools
- Cross-functional execution - Work across product, sales, and marketing to remove friction, identify gaps, and ship whatever is needed - new motions, integrations, custom work - to serve the startup market
- Content + storytelling - Shape the narrative that makes Attio the obvious CRM choice for founders, producing content that resonates deeply with how they actually build
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- 7+ years of experience as a founder, VC, or early operator at a high-growth startup - you've been in the room when the important decisions get made
- A genuine, existing network across the startup ecosystem - you know the founders, the investors, and the connectors
- The instincts and credibility to earn trust with early-stage founders quickly, and the seniority to drive decisions internally at pace
- A track record of building and shipping complex programs or initiatives that moved the needle
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to craft compelling narratives for the founder audience
- A builder's mindset - you're comfortable with ambiguity, operate with urgency, and take full ownership of outcomes
- An eye for quality - whether it's a startup program, a founder dinner, or a piece of content, you know what great looks like and hold yourself to it
WHAT DOES THE HIRING PROCESS LOOK LIKE?
- Initial conversations
- 30-minute intro with a member of our Talent team
- 30-minute track record interview with our Chief of Staff
- Core interviews
- The interview process will include three working sessions exploring your approach to problem solving and execution, ecosystem and activation thinking, and your perspective on AI, founder authenticity, and values alignment.
- Final stage
- 30-minute closing conversation with a member of our leadership team
- Offer call (if it’s a mutual fit)

The company is backed by leading investors including Coatue, Goldman Sachs, Insight Partners, and Sequoia Capital, and has been recognized by organizations such as the World Economic Forum and CB Insights for its contributions to blockchain security innovation.
About the Role
We are looking for an experienced compliance and financial crime leader to help shape and expand our work across anti money laundering, virtual asset compliance, and blockchain risk management. This role is designed for someone who understands compliance from both sides of the market: traditional financial institutions and virtual asset service providers. You should be comfortable operating at the intersection of regulation, financial crime prevention, blockchain analytics, and commercial strategy. You will serve as a senior subject matter expert on AML and virtual asset compliance, helping the company strengthen its compliance capabilities, advise financial institutions and VASPs, and engage credibly with regulators, law enforcement agencies, clients, and industry partners.
About You
You are a practical and commercially minded compliance leader with deep experience in AML, financial crime, and virtual assets.
You have worked within, or closely alongside, both traditional financial institutions and VASPs, and understand the differences between conventional transaction monitoring and the risks presented by blockchain based financial activity. You are equally comfortable reviewing a complex financial crime case, designing an AML framework, advising senior leadership, speaking with a regulator, and explaining blockchain risk to a bank, exchange, or government stakeholder. You do not approach compliance as a purely administrative function. You understand how strong compliance programs, credible risk controls, and effective blockchain analytics can support responsible business growth.
Responsibilities
Build and improve AML frameworks, virtual asset compliance strategy, sanctions, risk assessments, transaction monitoring, and investigation processes.
Advise financial institutions and VASPs on virtual asset compliance, regulatory expectations, and blockchain related financial crime risks.
Monitor regulatory developments and translate them into practical compliance guidance and product requirements.
Where applicable, serve as MLRO or support the designated MLRO on suspicious activity reviews and regulatory reporting.
Partner with product, engineering, business development teams, regulators, law enforcement, and other industry stakeholders.
Requirements
Prior experience as an MLRO, Chief Compliance Officer, Head of Financial Crime, or a similar senior compliance role.
Experience across both traditional financial institutions and the virtual asset industry.
Strong knowledge of AML, financial crime, sanctions, transaction monitoring, regulatory compliance and reporting, and virtual asset financial crime risks.
Hands on experience with blockchain analytics, KYT, wallet screening, or similar on-chain compliance tools and processes.
Strong communication skills and CAMS or an equivalent AML qualification.
Bonus Points
Experience owning the AML program of a regulated entity, VASP licensing, regulatory examinations, or remediation.
Established relationships across regulators, law enforcement, banks, exchanges, or the virtual asset industry.
The expected annual base salary range for this position in the United States is $150,000 to $220,000. Compensation for candidates outside the United States will be determined based on location, experience, and qualifications.

Why Sony Interactive Entertainment?
Sony Interactive Entertainment isn’t just the Best Place to Play — it’s also the Best Place to Work. Sony Interactive Entertainment (SIE) is the company behind the PlayStation brand. As a subsidiary of Sony Group Corporation, we’re part of a proud legacy of innovation and excellence. SIE is a dynamic technology company, delivering cutting-edge hardware and network services to more than 100 million people and an entertainment leader, home to some of the most beloved and recognizable intellectual properties (IP) in the world. Our role at SIE is to create and nurture the experiences under the PlayStation brand, a name synonymous with entertainment excellence and creativity.
Sr. Principal Engineer, Data & Machine Learning
San Mateo, CA
Why PlayStation Data & Intelligence
PlayStation reaches more than 100+ million people. Behind those experiences is one of the largest consumer data estates in entertainment: tens of petabytes under management and trillions of telemetry events a year, powering personalization, experimentation, partner analytics and enterprise decisions across the company.
We are in the middle of a multi-year shift in how that data creates value. Today intelligence often arrives after the moment has passed. Our goal is a connected intelligence layer where trusted context about players, content, partners and the business is built once, reused everywhere, activated at the point of decision, and improved by evidence about what happened next. That includes serving AI models and agents with the same governed meaning, quality and permissions we give to people.
This role helps shape how that is built across PlayStation.
The Role
We are looking for a Senior Principal Engineer, Data & Machine Learning to serve as chief architect for our Data & Intelligence organization and as the senior technical authority for how SIE builds, reuses and activates trusted data and intelligence.
This is one of SIE’s most senior individual-contributor roles. You will report directly to the Vice President of the organization, sit on the leadership team alongside the Sr. Directors who run our two delivery portfolios, chair our architecture review forum, and lead a community of Principal Engineers anchored to the major architectural seams. You will have no direct reports by design; your leverage comes from the architecture, the standards and the decisions the whole organization builds against.
This is a hands-on role. You will author architectures and reference implementations, prototype uncertain approaches, review the designs and code that matter most, and step in directly when a technical problem puts an important outcome at risk.
What You’ll Own
You will set the architecture for, and drive reuse across, the initiatives that define the next three years of data and intelligence at PlayStation:
A single, reusable understanding of the player.
The context, lifecycle and lifetime-value intelligence that powers experiences and decisions across PlayStation, built once and reused rather than rebuilt per use case.
Content and game understanding.
Intelligence about titles, experiences and how players engage with them, connected through engagement and content graphs to improve discovery, personalization and new AI experiences.
Creator and partner intelligence.
Reusable title, launch and lifecycle intelligence available to partners at the point of decision, before launch, while live and after.
Unified measurement.
Experimentation, attribution and causal measurement so the company knows what changed an outcome, by how much, and what to do next.
Activation.
Real-time signals, activation data products and APIs that deliver trusted context into the systems that personalize and act.
Semantic and conversational intelligence.
A shared layer of business meaning and metrics that people, analytical tools and AI agents can query and trust.
Enterprise decision data.
Decision-grade finance and supply-chain data that accelerates transformation programs across SIE.
Trusted foundations and golden paths.
Data contracts, certification, lineage, unified events and standard publish-to-consume paths, with trust designed into the lifecycle; and launch data readiness so priority launches have their signals and measures from day one.
What You’ll Do
Translate our multi-year Data & Intelligence strategy into a coherent technical strategy and target architecture, with clear principles for trusted data products, ML systems, shared intelligence, evaluation, activation and lifecycle management.
Chair the architecture review forum: set its charter and cadence, publish decisions, track adoption and hold the line on non-conforming designs.
Own the boundary decisions between platform capabilities built for reuse and domain delivery, and keep them stable.
Define and ratify the standards teams build against: data contracts, golden paths, model evaluation and experimentation, observability, reliability, cost and lifecycle management.
Lead the technical direction of our hardest cross-organizational initiatives; author proposals, reference designs and prototypes that establish a credible path from concept to production.
Work directly with engineering and data science teams to remove critical blockers, so that decisions become usable capabilities rather than architecture on paper.
Partner with security, privacy, legal, governance and responsible-AI teams to embed controls throughout the data and ML lifecycle, including the responsible use of proprietary data, third-party and foundation models, and externally hosted AI services.
Identify duplicative capabilities, drive rationalization and retirement, and improve interoperability across SIE’s data and ML landscape.
Advise senior executives on major technical investments, tradeoffs, emerging capabilities and long-term risk; produce the written recommendations that drive annual planning.
Connect technical investment to named consumers, decisions and measurable outcomes; define how we measure adoption, reuse, time-to-action, quality, reliability, safety and cost.
Lead a community of Principal Engineers; mentor Principal, Staff and Senior engineers, architects, ML engineers and data scientists.
Represent SIE’s data and machine learning direction in senior leadership forums, partner organizations and, where appropriate, the broader industry.
What We’re Looking For
15+ years in software, data or machine learning engineering, including 9+ years leading the architecture and delivery of large-scale, complex systems.
A track record of authoring architectures, standards or platforms that were adopted across multiple organizations and stayed in use.
Experience taking data, ML or decisioning systems serving tens of millions of consumers into production and operating them at scale.
Experience chairing, or being the deciding technical voice in, an architecture review forum spanning multiple engineering organizations.
Deep expertise in at least two of: reusable data products, semantic and metadata layers and data contracts; ML platforms, lifecycle management, evaluation and decisioning; real-time signals, distributed inference and activation platforms; experimentation and causal measurement; generative AI, retrieval and agentic systems; responsible AI, privacy and technical governance.
Strong command of distributed systems, cloud, data architecture, APIs, security, reliability, observability and performance engineering.
Demonstrated ability to influence senior executives, engineering and product leaders, and cross-functional partners without direct authority.
Outstanding written communication. This role leads through documents.
Experience mentoring Staff, Principal or similarly senior technical professionals.
Master’s degree in Computer Science, Machine Learning, Engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent experience.
Nice to Have
Data and ML applied in gaming, entertainment, media, digital commerce or another large-scale consumer ecosystem.
Personalization, recommendations, customer intelligence, content intelligence, experimentation or predictive decisioning at scale.
Shared data or ML platforms serving multiple products and organizational domains.
Feature, vector, graph, semantic or knowledge platforms; AI gateways and LLMOps.
Experience translating research or emerging technology into production capabilities.
Contributions to the field through open source, patents, publications, standards or conference talks.
Why You’ll Love This Role
Set the technical direction for data and intelligence across PlayStation.
Own the architecture behind experiences reaching more than 100 million people.
Report directly to the VP and sit on the organization’s leadership team.
Build once, reuse everywhere: the mandate is to end duplicated work, not add to it.
Work with strong Principal and Staff engineers, data scientists and product leaders across the company.
Stay hands-on at the most senior IC level.

GiveWell’s mission is to help people in need as much as we can by researching the most cost‑effective ways to save and improve lives, sharing our work openly, and directing donations to the programs we believe will do the most good. Our work, which focuses on global health and well-being, is funded by tens of thousands of donors who rely on our research to inform their giving. We’ve grown from directing $1.5 million in 2010 to directing more than $400 million in 2025. We anticipate our total grantmaking is likely to approach or even exceed $1 billion this year, and we are working toward a future that could be several times that scale. Through years of deliberate groundwork, we’ve been growing our research capacity and scope in order to direct substantially more funding to the most impactful opportunities we can find.
We’re hiring a Senior Communications Officer, Media & Public Affairs to lead how GiveWell’s work is represented in the media and in public conversations. You will set our strategy, build trusted relationships with journalists and other influential voices, pursue opportunities that increase understanding of GiveWell’s work, and lead our external response in fast-moving situations.
This role will lead a small and growing team. This is one of three new communications leadership roles, alongside a
Senior Communications Officer, Strategic Communications
and a
Senior Communications Officer, Editorial & Production
.
About the role
Both
our research and impact are expanding
. Last year, we directed more than $400 million to highly cost-effective programs that save and improve lives. This year, we expect our grantmaking to approach, and possibly exceed, $1 billion.
To build toward the communications capacity this next stage requires, we are rapidly expanding our team. The three Senior Communications Officers will work together on many projects to support GiveWell’s communications needs, while working closely with other leaders across our organization. Each leader will own their function, but much of the work that matters most—like team strategies, major initiatives, partnership campaigns, and how we present the organization as a whole—will involve all three. We will expect this group to set shared priorities and work closely together to achieve the team’s goals.
In this hands-on leadership position, you’ll own how and where GiveWell engages in media and public conversations, with end-to-end responsibility for this emerging function. You’ll set its strategy, hire and develop its people, build its systems, and personally own its hardest and most consequential work. This is an opportunity to build, not just inherit, an important function at a critical point in GiveWell’s development. You’ll start with a small team and grow it over time.
While this role is set at the Senior Communications Officer level, we may consider hiring an exceptional candidate as a Communications Director—with greater expectations, responsibilities, and compensation.
What You'll Do
As Senior Communications Officer, Media & Public Affairs, you will combine long-term strategy and relationship-building with the ability to respond quickly and exercise sound judgment in sensitive or fast-moving situations.
Specific duties will include:
Set GiveWell’s strategy across media, thought-leader engagement, online communities, public forums and events, and other earned communications opportunities—including deciding where and when GiveWell should participate and overseeing those engagements.
Build and maintain high-trust relationships with journalists, editors, podcast hosts, event organizers, thought leaders, subject-matter experts, and other influential external stakeholders.
Identify, develop, and pitch substantive stories, event opportunities, and thought-leadership ideas that extend understanding of GiveWell’s work.
Own inbound media engagement, including situations that require rapid responses, close coordination with subject-matter experts, and careful judgment about what GiveWell can responsibly say—and about which responses need escalation.
Build and maintain GiveWell’s readiness for sensitive or fast-moving situations, monitor emerging issues in media and public conversations, and lead our external response when needed in partnership with others.
Advise GiveWell’s leadership on external opportunities and relationships, and prepare senior leaders and subject-matter experts for interviews, speaking engagements, and other public appearances.
Exercise sound judgment about when and how GiveWell should enter public conversations, including evaluating likely value, reputational considerations, and communications risks.
Evaluate and help shape public-facing communications partnerships, advising on which opportunities GiveWell should pursue and how we should participate.
Serve as a spokesperson for GiveWell in select media interviews, events, and other public forums, communicating our perspective clearly, accurately, and with sound judgment.
Work with grantees and other partners on press releases and other media-facing communications involving GiveWell or our shared work.
Manage and develop one or two team members initially, and build the relationships, systems, and additional capacity the function will need over time.
About You
You are skilled at using communications to help people understand complex ideas, build trust, and take action. You are comfortable being accountable for outcomes, making consequential decisions with limited oversight, and knowing which decisions genuinely require escalation.
You are energized by intellectually demanding work, and the challenges of creating engaging communications within a careful and precise style. You can engage deeply with GiveWell’s research, and you are comfortable understanding and communicating about data in detail. You have a long track record of getting up to speed quickly on complex subject matter and carefully communicating to a very high standard. You can build a compelling narrative that is entirely factual, representing what is known and unknown without overstating or hedging into vagueness—and you find the idea of working with GiveWell’s exacting communications standards exciting rather than limiting.
Your background includes significant experience leading communications in complex, high-stakes environments. This should include 10+ years of experience in media relations, thought leadership, and public engagement. You have deep experience owning that work end to end, not just contributing to it. You’ve remained a hands-on leader who enjoys the work itself, as well as the strategy and systems behind it.
You know how journalists, influential voices, events, and other public forums shape how organizations and ideas are understood. You have a demonstrated ability to build meaningful external relationships, identify opportunities worth pursuing, personally represent an organization’s perspective, and navigate public-facing situations in which context is limited, timelines are short, and judgment matters. Much of this should be work you executed yourself, in addition to work you directed. Experience in settings where precision and credibility were at least as important as reach is a strong signal of fit.
In addition to demonstrated expertise in the duties listed above, you should have:
Exceptional communications judgment, including the ability to understand audience, context, risk, timing, and the underlying substance of a message.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to quickly make complex ideas clear and compelling without sacrificing rigor or nuance.
A track record of building and leading: you have created or substantially rebuilt a team or function—not only run ones you inherited—and you have hired, developed, and managed people.
Recent, hands-on excellence at your craft: you can point to work from the past few years that you personally produced or substantially shaped.
Experience producing communications that are direct and factual while being engaging and effective with their target audiences—work that succeeds through substance and clarity rather than embellishment.
Intellectual curiosity and the ability to engage deeply with GiveWell’s research and ideas, even without prior experience in our giving areas.
Experience advising executives or other senior decision-makers directly.
Strong alignment with GiveWell’s mission and values, including truth-seeking, transparency, and a commitment to communicating accurately and thoughtfully.
We also think these qualities will help you do well in the role and at GiveWell:
People who can develop a strong point of view and hold it with confidence, but remain genuinely open to challenge, new information, and better ideas.
Self-starters who take ownership, are comfortable creating structure in an evolving environment, and can make thoughtful decisions without always having complete information.
People who are proactive and anticipatory, who identify opportunities, risks, bottlenecks, and communications needs before they become obvious.
Collaborative leaders who raise the quality of the work around them and build strong relationships across teams.
People who coordinate well with peers, resolve dependencies and disagreements, and make shared work clearer rather than more complicated.
Key Questions & Information
What are some of the reasons I might not like this role?
You want to step into a mature function with established systems, rather than build one while you run it.
You do best with clear direction and established priorities. We’ll expect you to set most of your own, make most decisions yourself, and reach substantial autonomy within your first six months.
You prefer advising on communications to producing and being accountable for them.
You want sole ownership of an organization’s overarching communications strategy and brand. At GiveWell, the CEO and executive team owns that direction; you would help shape it and lead your function within it.
You want to lead a large team from day one. This team is small today, and much of the most difficult work will be yours to do directly.
You find standards of precision and understatement limiting and frustrating. We work extremely hard to only communicate accurately what we know and what we don’t.
Can I apply to more than one of the Senior Communications Officer roles?
You can, but most people shouldn’t. We’re looking for deep expertise in these areas, and we expect most candidates with required expertise will be a clear fit for a single role. If you’re one of the few with real depth in more than one area, apply to both and tell us why. Otherwise, apply for the role you are most qualified for, and we’ll let you know if we think another role might suit you better.
What does this interview process entail?
We’ll use a combination of interviews, written exercises, and work trials to assess the qualities described above. We’ll share more specific details if we invite you to move forward to any of the following stages, but our current plan will likely include the following:
Application
Interview with a member of the Talent Acquisition Team
Compensated work trial with a set maximum number of hours
Interview with GiveWell's Chief of Staff to the CEO
Values interview
CEO interview and References
Note that you don’t need to submit a cover letter. We rely heavily on your resume and answers to the application questions below when we’re making early decisions. We encourage you to spend time responding to the application questions thoroughly and carefully.

We’re hiring a Senior Communications Officer, Editorial & Production to lead the editorial quality and production of GiveWell’s communications. You will set the editorial bar, build the people and systems needed to produce excellent work consistently and at increasing scale, and personally shape some of our most complex and consequential content.
This role will lead a small and growing team. This is one of three new communications leadership roles, alongside a
Senior Communications Officer, Strategic Communications
and a
Senior Communications Officer, Media & Public Affairs
In this hands-on leadership position, you’ll own the editorial quality and production of GiveWell’s communications, with end-to-end responsibility for this emerging function. You’ll strengthen its standards, hire and develop its people, build its systems, and personally own its hardest and most consequential work.
What You'll Do
As Senior Communications Officer, Editorial & Production, you will be responsible not only for the quality of individual pieces but also for creating a content operation that can prioritize effectively, manage dependencies, use its resources well, and deliver reliably. This will require both senior editorial judgment and strong operational leadership.
Specific duties will include:
Own the editorial quality and production of GiveWell’s communications, ensuring that our work is clear, accurate, useful, carefully reasoned, and delivered on time. You will serve as GiveWell’s senior editor for our communications content, with responsibility for returning or correcting work that does not meet our editorial bar.
Build and manage the workflows, editorial standards, review processes, and production systems that allow GiveWell to create consistently excellent content at increasing scale.
Lead planning, prioritization, and resource allocation for GiveWell’s owned-content portfolio, managing dependencies and moving complex projects from concept through publication.
Uphold GiveWell’s voice and editorial standards across everything we publish, and help colleagues across the organization write within them.
Own the development of GiveWell’s recurring communications and reporting products, turning established priorities and messaging into clear, accurate content.
Personally create, edit, or substantially shape our most complex, sensitive, or high-priority content.
Oversee GiveWell’s website content operations, including the people and processes responsible for routine updates and publishing, so that the site remains accurate, current, and consistent with our editorial standards.
Serve as a senior editorial and production partner to teams across GiveWell, helping shape high-priority projects early, determine the right format and production approach, and establish clear roles, review paths, and timelines.
Oversee the production of design, visual, and multimedia assets across GiveWell’s channels, and the internal team and external contractors who create them.
Manage and develop one or two team members initially, and determine how the function’s team and capabilities should grow over time.
About You
You are skilled at using communications to help people understand complex ideas, build trust, and take action. You are comfortable being accountable for outcomes, making consequential decisions with limited oversight, and knowing which decisions genuinely require escalation.
You are energized by intellectually demanding work, and the challenges of creating engaging communications within a careful and precise style. Your background includes significant experience leading communications in complex, high-stakes environments. This should include 10+ years of experience leading editorial and content-production work, setting and maintaining editorial standards, managing writers and editors, and building systems that produce consistently high-quality work. You have deep experience owning that work end to end, not just contributing to it. You’ve remained a hands-on leader who enjoys the work itself, as well as the strategy and systems behind it.
You are a precise editor of complex or technical content: you read text literally and carefully, and you notice when a claim isn’t supported by the evidence behind it. You should be able to combine high standards for individual work with the operational judgment needed to prioritize, allocate resources, manage complex production, and increase capacity over time. You should understand how content is developed through writing, editing, design, audio, graphics, websites, and other formats—even if you are not personally an expert in every medium.
