We're looking for Senior AI Engineers to design, build and run LLM-powered agents and AI features in production. You'll work across the full lifecycle: from scoping a use case with stakeholders, through architecture and development, to deployment, evaluation and ongoing improvement.
This is a hands-on role for engineers who think like product owners: you understand the business problem, define what success looks like in numbers, ship to real users, and own the result after launch.
Our stack: Python and TypeScript/Node.js, PostgreSQL, Kafka, Docker, GitHub Actions, AWS. We run multiple LLM providers (Anthropic, OpenAI, Google, AWS Bedrock and others) behind a shared LLM gateway, with MCP for tool access. We work AI-native: agentic coding tools are part of how engineering gets done here, and we provide official Anthropic Claude certification for our engineers.
As part of our team, your responsibilities in this role will include:
Design and build LLM agents and agentic workflows: tool use via MCP, structured outputs, retrieval (RAG), multi-step orchestration, human review steps where needed.
Build and maintain MCP servers and tool layers that give agents governed access to company data and systems.
Own quality and cost: evals and golden sets, per-agent telemetry (tokens, cost, latency, accuracy), prompt and model versioning, provider failover and model routing.
Ship through CI/CD like any other production service: tests and evals in the pipeline, containerized deploys, monitoring, rollbacks.
Contribute to shared platform pieces: the agent template, the LLM gateway, observability.
Work directly with business stakeholders to scope, prioritize and validate use cases. Push back when something doesn't need an agent.
Use AI coding tools daily. Claude Code is our default; deep experience with a comparable agentic tool also works. You drive the tool, verify its output and catch its mistakes.
Our ideal candidate possesses the following skills:
5+ years of software engineering experience, with production systems you've designed, shipped and supported.
Proven experience building LLM-based agents or agentic workflows that reached production with real users.
Hands-on experience with agent frameworks and SDKs: Claude Agent SDK, Claude Managed Agents, Pydantic AI, LangGraph or similar. You can also explain what you'd build without one.
Hands-on experience with MCP and RAG: you've built MCP servers or equivalent tool layers, and retrieval pipelines over real, messy data.
Experience with multiple LLM providers and with AWS Bedrock: model selection, routing, fallbacks, cost and rate-limit management.
Strong Python and SQL. Comfortable in TypeScript/Node.js.
Solid production engineering on AWS: Docker, CI/CD, testing, observability.
Product thinking and business focus: you start from the problem and its cost, define success in measurable terms, and own outcomes.
Daily use of agentic coding tools (Claude Code, Codex, Cursor or similar), with the judgment to verify what they produce.
Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders, in English.
Nice to have:
LLM observability or gateway tooling (Langfuse, LiteLLM, OpenTelemetry for LLM traces or similar).
B2B contact and company data: enrichment, deduplication, matching.
Cloud operations or FinOps: monitoring, incident handling, cost management.
Event-driven or workflow-engine experience (Kafka, Temporal or similar).
Experience replacing no-code or workflow-tool automations with production code.
What we offer:
Fully remote work format;
A collaborative and creative environment that values initiative and experimentation;
Paid time off and sick leave;
Reduced working hours on Fridays during the summer;
Days-off on US national holidays + your birthday;
Schedule: 14 PM - 23 PM EEST (Kyiv time).

About inKind
inKind is transforming the way restaurants access growth capital and build relationships with their guests. Sitting at the intersection of hospitality, fintech, consumer technology, and loyalty, our platform helps restaurant operators grow while giving consumers a better way to discover, experience, and engage with restaurants.
We are entering our next stage of growth, and our ambition is significant: to establish inKind as the market-leading brand in dining and become one of the most recognized and relevant consumer brands in hospitality.
We're looking for a VP of Marketing who has experienced hyper-scale before - someone who understands what it takes to take a rapidly growing company and turn it into a category-defining, nationally recognized brand.
Role Summary
The VP of Marketing will own the strategy, execution, and continuous optimization of inKind's marketing function across growth, brand, lifecycle, acquisition, retention, content, partnerships, and product marketing.
This is a critical leadership role for the next stage of inKind's growth. We want someone who has seen and helped lead hyper-scale firsthand and understands how the marketing strategy, organization, channels, brand, technology, and operating model need to evolve as a company moves from high growth to true market leadership.
Your mandate is bigger than generating leads or running campaigns. You will help turn inKind into a market-leading consumer brand, creating the awareness, affinity, customer growth, and engagement required to make inKind synonymous with discovering and experiencing great restaurants.
This is not a role for someone who wants to operate purely at the strategy level. You will set the vision while remaining deeply involved in execution - understanding how channels perform, how consumers behave, where the funnel can improve, what the brand stands for, and where we should place our next bet.
You will combine brand building with commercial performance, ensuring every marketing investment contributes to sustainable growth and long-term brand equity.
What You'll Own
Hyper-Scale Growth
Build the marketing strategy required to drive inKind through its next paradigm of rapid growth.
Bring firsthand experience of what changes when a business moves from growth into hyper-growth - from channels and organizational structure to processes, technology, measurement, and brand investment.
Identify the growth engines capable of taking inKind from today's scale to the next order of magnitude.
Build repeatable, scalable acquisition and engagement models rather than relying on isolated campaigns.
Anticipate the capabilities, talent, systems, and infrastructure Marketing will need before growth creates the requirement.
Balance aggressive growth with disciplined economics and sustainable customer value.
Growth & Customer Acquisition
Own the overall strategy for consumer growth, acquisition, activation, engagement, and retention.
Build and continuously optimize a diversified acquisition strategy across paid, organic, referral, partnership, local, and emerging channels.
Establish clear performance expectations across the marketing funnel and identify opportunities to improve conversion at every stage.
Own key growth metrics including CAC, conversion, activation, retention, repeat behavior, frequency, and LTV.
Develop scalable growth loops that leverage inKind's restaurant network, consumers, partners, and product.
Test aggressively, learn quickly, and scale what works.
Build a Market-Leading Brand
Own the ambition of transforming inKind from a rapidly growing company into a nationally recognized, market-leading consumer brand.
Define and evolve the inKind brand strategy, positioning, voice, and creative direction.
Establish a clear point of view on what inKind should stand for in the minds of consumers.
Build awareness, consideration, preference, and affinity at scale.
Develop breakthrough campaigns and brand moments capable of expanding inKind beyond its existing audience.
Build a brand that consumers actively recognize, trust, talk about, and want to engage with.
Ensure brand investment and growth marketing work together rather than operating as separate disciplines.
Identify opportunities for inKind to define and lead its category.
Establish consistent and distinctive brand experiences across product, digital, social, restaurant, partnership, experiential, and corporate touchpoints.
Lifecycle, CRM & Retention
Own lifecycle marketing across the complete customer journey.
Develop sophisticated segmentation and personalization strategies based on customer behavior and data.
Improve onboarding, activation, engagement, frequency, reactivation, and retention.
Drive continuous experimentation across messaging, offers, timing, channels, and customer segments.
Partner with Product and Data to identify behavioral signals and turn them into actionable marketing programs.
Ensure lifecycle marketing becomes a meaningful driver of customer LTV and sustainable growth.
Optimization & Analytics
Build a marketing organization where data drives decisions.
Establish clear dashboards and KPIs across channels, campaigns, customer segments, brand health, and the overall marketing funnel.
Regularly analyze performance and identify where resources should be increased, reduced, or redirected.
Develop a rigorous testing framework across creative, audience, channel, offer, landing page, and customer experience.
Understand not simply what happened, but why it happened and what we should do next.
Translate marketing performance and consumer behavior into clear recommendations for Executive Leadership.
Create the measurement frameworks necessary to understand both short-term performance marketing and long-term brand impact.
Product & Partner Marketing
Partner closely with Product to ensure customer insights influence the product roadmap and go-to-market strategy.
Develop positioning and go-to-market plans for new products, capabilities, markets, and strategic partnerships.
Create programs that simultaneously drive value for
consumers, restaurant partners, and inKind
.
Ensure major launches have clear audiences, messaging, distribution strategies, and measurable success criteria.
Identify opportunities where product capabilities themselves can become powerful acquisition, engagement, and brand-building mechanisms.
Marketing Leadership & Execution
Set the overall marketing strategy while remaining close to the work.
Build, lead, coach, and scale a high-performing marketing organization capable of operating in a hyper-growth environment.
Determine what the marketing organization needs to look like at 2x, 5x, and 10x today's scale.
Establish clear ownership, priorities, goals, and accountability across the team.
Evaluate the existing marketing organization, capabilities, agencies, technology, processes, and investment strategy and determine what needs to evolve.
Manage marketing investment with a strong focus on incremental impact, scalability, and ROI.
Move comfortably between executive-level strategy and detailed campaign, creative, channel, or performance discussions.
Create a culture of experimentation, urgency, creativity, accountability, and continuous improvement.
Who You Are
You've seen hyper-scale:
You have operated inside a company during a period of exceptional growth and understand what needs to change as the organization scales.
You've built brands, not just campaigns:
You understand how a growing company becomes a recognizable, differentiated, market-leading brand.
Strategic and hands-on:
You can build a multi-year marketing strategy and dive into campaign performance the same day.
Commercially minded:
You think about marketing through the lens of revenue, growth, customer behavior, market share, and enterprise value.
Brand + Growth:
You believe exceptional brand building and measurable performance should reinforce each other.
Data-driven:
You're comfortable interrogating dashboards, funnels, cohorts, CAC, LTV, retention, conversion, and channel performance.
Customer obsessed:
You have a deep curiosity about why consumers behave the way they do and what creates genuine brand affinity.
Highly experimental:
You naturally think in hypotheses, tests, results, and iteration.
Builder mentality:
You're energized by building the organization and capabilities required for the next stage rather than simply managing what already exists.
High agency:
When you identify an opportunity or problem, you take ownership and move quickly.
Qualifications
10+ years of progressive marketing experience, including significant senior leadership responsibility.
Firsthand experience operating through hyper-growth or hyper-scale, ideally within a business that achieved significant national consumer adoption.
Demonstrated experience helping transform a growing company into a market-leading or category-defining brand.
Experience within a high-growth consumer, marketplace, fintech, hospitality, loyalty, e-commerce, or technology business.
Demonstrated success scaling consumer acquisition and retention.
Strong experience across growth marketing, brand, lifecycle/CRM, customer segmentation, and performance optimization.
Proven ability to build and scale high-performing marketing organizations.
Strong analytical capabilities and experience using customer and performance data to drive decisions.
Experience managing significant marketing investments and evaluating channel-level ROI.
Strong executive communication and cross-functional leadership skills.
What Success Looks Like
Within your first year, you will have:
Established a clear strategy for taking inKind from high growth toward true market leadership.
Significantly increased awareness and consideration of the inKind brand.
Created a clear and differentiated position for inKind within the market.
Built scalable acquisition engines capable of supporting the company's next stage of growth.
Improved customer acquisition efficiency and funnel conversion.
Increased customer activation, engagement, frequency, retention, and LTV.
Strengthened lifecycle, personalization, and customer segmentation capabilities.
Established clear marketing and brand dashboards, experimentation frameworks, and performance accountability.
Built the team, systems, processes, and capabilities required to support hyper-scale.
Created stronger integration between Marketing, Product, Data, and commercial teams.
Put inKind firmly on the path to becoming the market-leading consumer brand in its category.
Why inKind
This is an opportunity to join inKind at an inflection point.
The foundations have been built. The business is scaling rapidly. The opportunity now is to take that momentum and build a brand with national awareness, significant consumer relevance, and category leadership.
We're looking for someone who has experienced that journey before and wants to help do it again—this time with the opportunity to shape the strategy, organization, brand, and growth engine behind it.
You'll have the opportunity to build a marketing organization and brand capable of defining the next stage of inKind's growth - and ultimately help make inKind synonymous with how people discover and experience restaurants.

What We Do:
Cybercrime is growing, and more businesses are getting hit by threats that used to target only the biggest organizations. That pushes defenders like us to operate at the highest level, and it deepens our need for good people who want to make a meaningful impact.
Founded in 2015 by former NSA cyber operators, Huntress is a remote-first team working to make enterprise-grade cybersecurity accessible to businesses of all sizes. We work closely with security teams and service providers protecting complex environments, often without the time or headcount to handle it all. That’s why we build our technology in-house and back it with a 24/7 human-led Security Operations Center (SOC). As a result, our platform is never disconnected from the experts who manage it, ensuring our customers' protection.
Huntress now secures more than 6M endpoints and 16M identities worldwide. Those numbers keep growing because more businesses rely on us to help carry the load and operate with more confidence. Every day, you can see that commitment in how we stand with our customers and how we show up for each other.
Reports to:

What You’ll Do:

You will guide teams, determine key milestones, and proactively anticipate blockers that could hinder our response capabilities.
Responsibilities:
Incident Response & Triage:
Lead the identification, triage, and validation of security incidents through various telemetry sources, acting as the ultimate escalation point for the SOC.
Strategic Preparedness:
Drive organizational incident readiness by designing and executing practical response exercises (tabletops and purple teaming) to ensure first responders are prepared at all levels of our organization.
Telemetry Optimization:
Partner with engineering, product security, and detection engineering teams to tune existing telemetry sources to a high true-positive rate, reducing noise and increasing detection efficacy.
Offensive Security Partnership:
Collaborate closely with the Offensive Security team to identify visibility gaps and ensure proper coverage against modern threat actor TTPs. Partner with product security, engineering, detection engineering, and other applicable business units to close these gaps rather than treating them as a blocker.
Continuous Improvement & Leadership
: Lead cross-functional Post-Incident Reviews (PIRs) to extract critical lessons learned; own the lifecycle of resulting remediation tasks, driving specific tooling and process enhancements that harden organizational defenses and response against future threats.
Stakeholder Communication:
Develop and present comprehensive reports and "lessons learned" to stakeholders at all levels following major incidents or exercises.

SIE is a dynamic technology company, delivering cutting-edge hardware and network services to more than 100 million people and an entertainment leader, home to some of the most beloved and recognizable intellectual properties (IP) in the world. Our role at SIE is to create and nurture the experiences under the PlayStation brand, a name synonymous with entertainment excellence and creativity.
Role overview
We are seeking a Senior Localisation Quality Engineer, a highly skilled and innovative individual who brings together design-phase product thinking, software engineering expertise, localisation awareness, and technical problem solving.
The role builds on the core responsibilities of a Senior Localisation QA Engineer, combining strong localization quality expertise with software engineering, automation, and earlier involvement in the product design and development lifecycle.
This role is ideal for someone who has worked closely with design teams in Figma, has experience reviewing and validating designs before implementation, understands how localisation impacts product and UI design, and can build scalable technical solutions to improve quality across the product lifecycle. You will partner with design, engineering, product, and localisation teams to identify risks early, improve design quality and localisation readiness, and create tools, systems, and solutions that enable faster and smarter delivery.
Rather than focusing only on post-implementation testing, this role emphasises early engagement in the design phase, including reviewing Figma files, prototypes, design systems, user flows, and content structures to ensure they are scalable, testable, and ready for localisation across languages and regions. You will also contribute as a hands-on engineer, building software, automation, integrations, and AI-driven solutions such as agents, assistants, or plugins that improve workflows, validation, and quality decision-making.
The ideal candidate combines strong software development skills, experience working with design systems and Figma-based workflows, practical understanding of localisation and internationalisation, and hands-on interest in engineering solutions to product and quality challenges.
Responsibilities
Design Systems, Figma & Early Product Quality
- Partner with designers, product managers, engineers, and the wider Localisation team to help identify localisation risks early in the design phase.
- Support the Localisation team by reviewing Figma designs and providing technical and design expertise to improve localisation readiness before implementation.
- Help the Localisation team identify and address design risks such as text expansion, truncation, layout issues, bidirectional languages, locale-aware components, and cross-market scalability.
- .Build and improve tools, automation, and processes that enable Localisation QA to identify issues earlier and at scale, including automated design and content validation, screenshot capture, localisation readiness checks, and quality validation across languages and regions.
- Work with the wider Localisation team to define best practices and guidance that help designers and engineers create products that are ready for localisation from the start.
- Collaborate with design teams on design systems, UI patterns, and content structures to improve quality and reduce downstream issues before code is written.
- Help define quality expectations, localisation considerations, and implementation guidance directly from design artefacts and product requirements.
Localisation Quality & Testing
- Perform hands-on Localisation QA testing across multiple languages, platforms, products, and regions, including linguistic, functional, visual, and internationalisation testing.
- Lead and support complex localisation quality initiatives, while contributing directly to day-to-day testing when needed.
- Develop and improve localisation test strategies covering linguistic, functional, visual, and internationalisation quality.
- Investigate complex localisation and internationalisation issues and work with engineering, design, product, and localisation teams to identify root causes and appropriate solutions.
- Help define localisation quality standards and ensure localisation considerations are integrated throughout the product development lifecycle, from design through implementation and release.
Software Engineering & Technical Solutions
- Design and develop software, internal tools, automation, and reusable services that improve product quality, design validation, and workflow efficiency.
- Build scalable software solutions that support validation of product experiences across design, development, and release stages.
- Contribute to codebases, frameworks, and technical infrastructure that improve quality signals, design consistency, and localisation support.
- Partner with software engineers to improve feature readiness, system testability, and quality-by-design practices.
- Integrate validation and quality workflows into modern development environments and CI/CD pipelines where appropriate.
Automation, Tooling & Process Improvement
- Identify opportunities to reduce manual work and improve localisation and product quality across design, engineering, and localisation workflows.
- Design and build tools, automation, integrations, or other technical solutions that help teams review designs, validate content, detect issues, and improve workflows.
- Choose the right technical approach for each problem, which may include traditional automation, scripts, plugins, APIs, AI/LLMs, or existing internal tools.
- Develop solutions that help identify localisation and quality issues earlier in the product lifecycle and provide faster feedback to teams.
- Prototype and test new approaches, measure their value, and develop successful solutions so they can be used by the wider Localisation team and potentially other teams.
Cross-Functional Leadership
- Act as a bridge across design, engineering, product, and localisation teams, helping align quality, scalability, and user experience goals.
- Communicate clearly with both technical and non-technical stakeholders, translating complex issues into actionable recommendations.
- Influence teams toward a shift-left, design-led quality approach.
- Contribute to planning, design reviews, implementation discussions, and release readiness with a focus on preventing issues early.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to members of the Localisation team, sharing engineering, automation, localisation, and quality best practices.
- Promote a culture of innovation, technical excellence, and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Education
BS/BA in Computer Science, Engineering, Human-Computer Interaction, Design Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
Experience
- 5+ years of experience in software engineering, design technology, quality engineering, localisation engineering, or related product development roles.
- Strong hands-on experience in software development, with the ability to build tools, systems, integrations, or automation that solve real product challenges.
- Experience working closely with design teams and Figma workflows, including reviewing designs, prototypes, component systems, and user journeys before implementation.
- Experience validating or testing Figma designs for quality, scalability, localisation readiness, and implementation feasibility.
- Practical understanding of localisation and internationalisation principles in digital products.
- Experience with localisation quality or testing across multilingual products, platforms, or regions.
- Strong programming skills in one or more languages such as Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or Java.
- Hands-on experience building or experimenting with AI agents, plugins, copilots, or intelligent workflow tools.
- Experience with APIs, structured data, system integrations, and modern software development practices.
- Familiarity with developer collaboration tools such as GitHub, JIRA, and Confluence.
- Strong understanding of product development lifecycle, Agile methodologies, and cross-functional delivery models.
Soft Skills
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Strong product thinking and problem-solving ability.
Comfortable operating across design, engineering, product, and localisation domains.
Self-motivated, adaptable, and effective in a fast-paced environment.
Strong organisational and stakeholder management skills.
Desired qualifications
Experience with Figma design systems, component libraries, and design-to-development workflows.
Experience creating or contributing to Figma plugins, design validation tools, or workflow extensions.
Experience building AI agents, assistants, or plugins for design, engineering, content, or localisation use cases.
Experience influencing product quality earlier in the lifecycle through design review and engineering collaboration.
Familiarity with multilingual product development, translation workflows, or international launch readiness.
Experience in video games, consumer technology, digital entertainment, or large-scale product environments.
Fluency in one or more non-English languages is a plus.
What We Offer
The opportunity to shape next-generation quality, localisation, and design-to-development practices.
A dynamic and inclusive workplace where technical excellence, collaboration, and global impact thrive.
Competitive compensation, performance bonuses, and comprehensive benefits.
Career growth opportunities in a forward-looking engineering environment focused on quality, localisation, automation, intelligent systems, and early product excellence.

We are looking for a Senior Treasury Manager to build and run Finom's treasury function.
Finom safeguards a significant book of customer funds across its regulated entities. Net interest income on that book is a meaningful revenue line, and it will grow. Today the function is up and running: the money is placed, the investment policy is in place, and a large part of the book sits with an external asset manager. What we are building now is the machinery around it — an evidenced limit framework, look-through into what our managers actually hold, automated investment accounting, and a reconciled NII number we can defend to an auditor and a regulator.
That is the job. You will take part in building it, and you will run it while it is being built.
This is a hands-on role at the intersection of regulation, liquidity, and commercial impact — not a back-office position. It suits someone who has done this before in a regulated environment and wants to do it again without four layers of committee above them.
What you'll own
Liquidity and funding
Daily liquidity positioning and float management across entities and accounts
Intraday funding of payment channels; nostro and correspondent account management
Collateral and minimum-balance obligations across card schemes, T2, and credit providers
Contingency funding — the playbook for the day we need €20m by tomorrow morning
A daily treasury balance sheet — net liquidity and net capital available — that reconciles
Safeguarding and portfolio
Portfolio management of safeguarded client funds: term deposits, MMFs, short-dated debt, held directly and via external managers
Safeguarding adequacy: shortfall detection, top-up execution, same-currency discipline
Instrument eligibility screening under CRR risk-weight, maturity and WAL constraints, and UCITS/MMF rules
Independent, evidenced validation that externally managed allocations sit inside mandate — position-level look-through, daily monitoring of concentration, maturity, WAL and credit quality, breach escalation
NII forecasting, attribution, and reconciled performance reporting; treasury inputs into the financial model and company forecast
Governance and controls
Ownership of the investment policy, limit framework, and eligible-instrument register
Treasury governance: decision pack, agenda, decision log, and delegated-authority register
Pre-deal checks and post-trade evidencing, designed so that the first line executes and the second line challenges
Covenant tracking across credit facilities
Regulator, external audit, and second-line engagement on treasury and safeguarding matters
Systems and data
Selection and implementation of investment accounting and treasury tooling — a Clearwater/Advent-class implementation is already in flight and will be yours
Custodian, asset-manager and bank data feeds; API connectivity where it exists and pragmatic alternatives where it doesn't
Replacing manual spreadsheet processes with something that survives your holiday
Commercial
Bank, custodian, broker and asset-manager relationships: onboarding, commercial terms, mandate setting, service review
Challenging our managers on allocation, transparency and fees — and changing them if the answers are weak
What good looks like in the first 12 months
Investment policy and limit framework live, with treasury governance running on a documented decision log
Daily, evidenced mandate compliance across the full book — we can answer "are we inside the boundaries?" in minutes, not weeks
Investment accounting platform implemented; monthly close on the portfolio no longer manual
An NII number that is reconciled, attributed, and forecastable
A contingency liquidity playbook that has been tested rather than written
Who you are
5+ years in treasury, ALM, fixed income, or portfolio management at a regulated financial institution, EMI/PI, or asset manager
Direct experience with client money or safeguarding under PSD2 / EMD — core to this role, not adjacent to it
Experience building or materially rebuilding a treasury function, not only operating inside an established one
Strong command of bond math, yield and duration, MMF mechanics, and credit and concentration risk at instrument level
Track record of automating manual treasury processes and implementing treasury or investment accounting systems
Comfortable working with position-level data directly — you can interrogate a portfolio file rather than wait for a report
Experience with regulators, external audit, and external asset managers (mandate setting, IMA terms, performance challenge)
Sound judgement under time pressure in a lean environment with real accountability and limited cover
Strong Excel skills
Fluent English
Nice to have
Familiarity with IFRS 9 or Dutch GAAP (RJ 290) financial instrument accounting
SQL or Python
Experience in a firm transitioning toward a banking licence
Experience using AI tools (e.g. LLMs, copilots) to accelerate analytical and reporting workflows

ABOUT MOTHERDUCK
Don’t let the quirky name fool you: At MotherDuck, we’re on a mission to make data warehousing fun, frictionless, and ducking awesome for developers and data practitioners building blazing fast internal and customer-facing analytics experiences. We're building a cloud-hosted version of DuckDB, working hand-in-hand with the creators of the fastest-growing and fastest-improving query engine on the planet. Unlike other databases, MotherDuck was architected to unify local development with cloud operations to bridge the gap between software and data engineering workflows. Our team is a mix of thoughtful, passionate, and empathetic data industry veterans.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
The Database team is the bridge between DuckDB and the cloud. We own the core server and client extension logic that lets DuckDB run seamlessly, whether it's local or in the cloud, and we work in C++ right alongside the DuckDB codebase itself. Our mission is to push the boundaries of embedded database performance, distributed execution, and user experience, all while staying closely connected to DuckDB Labs (the team behind DuckDB) to align on APIs and shape what's next.
Day to day, we drive major projects in dual execution, resource assignment, and system reliability, while also handling incoming issues and lending our DuckDB expertise to other teams. We collaborate closely across MotherDuck and with the wider DuckDB community, making sure people get the best of both local and cloud worlds. It's a small, high-agency team with big ambitions... the kind of place where engineers own impactful projects, share what they learn, and help shape how modern analytics gets built.
This role is ideally based in Amsterdam or Berlin, but we are also open to great candidates remotely in Europe.
Key Responsibilities:
- Own major projects in our dual execution stack, so DuckDB can process queries seamlessly whether they're running locally or in the cloud.
- Help build a cloud platform that dynamically assigns resources, so DuckDB stays efficient whether someone's running a tiny workload or pushing our biggest, highest-memory instances.
- Lead cross-functional work with our frontend, platform, and infrastructure teams to keep the user experience coherent end to end.
- Push the state of the art in embedded database performance, distributed execution, and DuckDB internals.
- Deepen your DuckDB expertise and share it with the rest of the company through mentorship and documentation.
- Work directly with our support team to debug issues, learn from real usage patterns, and prioritize the improvements that matter most.
- Improve systems holistically... spotting architectural challenges early and clearing bottlenecks before they become problems.
- Mentor teammates and help raise the bar for engineering practices across the team.
- Work closely with DuckDB Labs (which grew out of the Database Architectures group at CWI, where vectorized execution and DuckDB were born) to help align on APIs and shape where DuckDB goes next.
WHAT YOU BRING
- You've built and shipped complex backend systems, and you know what great looks like.
- You're fluent in a backend language like C++, Rust, Java, or similar systems languages, and you're comfortable working close to the metal. (C++ and Rust are the biggest plus here, and we love a great Java engineer too.)
- A good foundation in query engines, execution plans, indexing, and performance optimization techniques.
- Hands-on experience with DuckDB is a huge plus, no matter what level you're coming in at.
- You've worked with cloud infrastructure, networking, and building low-latency distributed systems.
- You can scope and lead projects that span multiple collaborators and cross-functional dependencies.
- You take pride in clear thinking, careful design, and thoughtful tradeoffs.
- You're comfortable mentoring peers and helping build a collaborative, high-agency environment.
- You enjoy engaging with the wider community, whether that's open-source conversations or working directly with DuckDB Labs.
WHAT WE PROVIDE
- The opportunity to participate and contribute to DuckDB, one of most popular modern open source analytical databases.
- Competitive salary and stock options so you have a stake in our flock’s success.
- Flexible time off – take the time you need to recharge, explore, or just have a lazy day by the pond.
- A good pension plan
- Legendary company events – we bring the whole flock together once a year for unforgettable team gatherings a year to keep our bonds strong.
- Hybrid work environment – Spend three days a week in the office collaborating with the flock, and work from wherever you’re most productive the rest of the time—whether that’s your home office, a coffee shop, or a peaceful lakeside retreat. We have to warn you though, most of us like the office so much we come anyway. It’s on the river Ij, with a great lunch every day.
PLEASE APPLY
Does this role sound appealing to you, but you’re missing some of the requirements or don’t quite think you’re qualified? Please apply anyway. Research has shown that underrepresented groups in technology often shy away from roles which aren’t a 100% match. We aim to build a diverse team and will strongly consider applicants who bring many of the requirements plus have other experiences which round out their qualifications.
MotherDuck is proud to be an Equal Employment Opportunity and Affirmative Action employer. We do not discriminate based on race, religion, color, national origin, gender (including pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions), sexual orientation, gender identity, gender expression, age, status as a protected veteran, status as an individual with a disability, or other applicable legally protected characteristics.
