We’re scaling fast and staying true to what makes us different: an open-source legacy, a global collaborative culture, and a passion for meaningful work. Our team thrives in an innovation-driven environment where transparency, autonomy, and trust fuel everything we do.
You may not meet every requirement, and that’s okay. If this role excites you, we’d love you to raise your hand for what could be a truly career-defining opportunity.
This is a remote opportunity and we are looking for candidates from the UK, Sweden, Spain or Germany.
About the role:
Grafana Cloud runs Mimir, Loki, Tempo and Pyroscope as multi-tenant SaaS databases across AWS, GCP and Azure in regions worldwide. Our highest-SLA customers depend on them to run their businesses. We’re looking for a Staff Software Engineer to keep these systems reliable at scale.
The role combines building and operating. You’ll write the software, automation and product changes that make our databases more reliable, including changes to the Mimir, Loki and Tempo codebases where reliability calls for it. You’ll also be on call for our highest-SLA customers and handle the operational work that comes with it. You’ll bring a production mindset to product engineering and engineering rigor to reliability, and you’ll set technical direction across squads.
What You’ll Do
Build reliability into the product.
Write production code in our services, tooling and the Mimir, Loki and Tempo codebases that makes our databases more resilient, self-healing and scalable as demand grows quickly.
Build automation and platform tooling
that removes toil and scales our reliability practices across regions and cloud providers.
Lead technical design.
Author design docs, review others’ designs and PRs, and shape feature design so it’s scalable and operable from day one.
Own the SLO framework.
Define and evolve per-tenant SLOs and reliability models. Use SLO burn and incident learnings to find and fix the causes of failure in the systems themselves.
Improve observability and alerting
so we find problems before customers do, and so escalations are actionable rather than noisy.
Be on call for our highest-SLA customers.
Act as a technical escalation point for complex customer environments. Lead customer-impacting incident response, including customer bridge calls when needed, and write blameless post-incident reviews that lead to engineering fixes.
Handle the operational work that comes from on-call.
This includes investigating customer escalations, following up on incident actions, tuning capacity and configuration, and turning recurring issues into permanent fixes or automation.
Multiply the team.
Mentor engineers, teach reliability practices that teams adopt early in development, and work with engineering leadership on roadmaps and product strategy.
We highly value those who are intellectually curious, who default to transparency, possess a high bias towards action, and who are also kind (this is important!)
On-Call
Weekday on-call is 12-hour shifts, Monday to Friday, split between North America and Europe so you cover your local working hours. Weekends are covered by a separate 24-hour rotation. You’ll take a weekend roughly once every six to eight weeks.
What We’re Looking For:
8+ years of software engineering experience, including significant time building and owning distributed systems in production.
Strong production software skills, ideally in at least one object-oriented language. You write clean, tested code and can make targeted changes in large open-source codebases you didn’t write.
Deep understanding of distributed systems: performance, scaling and failure modes. You can reason about how a system will break before it does.
Experience running multi-tenant systems at scale on Kubernetes in AWS, GCP or Azure, with infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform, Helm or Jsonnet.
Hands-on experience designing and implementing SLOs.
Experience being on call for production systems. You troubleshoot calmly and methodically under pressure, and you’ve taken part in blameless incident response and written high-quality post-incident reviews.
Staff-level technical leadership: driving cross-team projects, setting technical direction and making the engineers around you better.
Working knowledge of Linux internals, networking and cloud storage.
Nice to Have:
Experience with Mimir, Loki, Tempo, Pyroscope, Prometheus or other observability and time-series databases.
Open-source contributions.
Customer reliability engineering (CRE) or customer-facing escalation experience.

This is a remote opportunity and we would be interested in applicants from Canada time zones only at this time.
Staff AI Engineer
The Opportunity:
At Grafana, we build observability tools that help users understand, respond to, and improve their systems – regardless of scale, complexity, or tech stack. The Grafana AI teams play a key role in this mission by helping users make sense of complex observability data through AI-driven features. These capabilities reduce toil, lower the barrier of domain expertise, and surface meaningful signals from noisy environments.
What makes our team different is
how
we work: we operate with a high degree of autonomy and ownership, both as individuals and as a team. Engineers are empowered to make decisions, move quickly, and validate ideas early – while being supported by a deeply collaborative culture that values curiosity, feedback, and cross-functional partnership.
We’re looking for an AI Software Engineer with a strong software engineering background, a quick iteration mindset, and a passion for experimentation – balanced by a focus on shipping and scaling impactful features that deliver value to users. You’ll work closely with cross-functional teams to develop, test, and ship AI-powered features that contribute to improving infrastructure and observability quality through automation, while also expanding the capabilities of AI agents across the observability stack to assist users with incident response. As the team matures, there’s a broad opportunity to expand or redefine this role based on impact and initiative.

What You’ll Be Doing:
Build and deliver AI solutions: Take ownership of developing high-performance AI features to help users detect, triage, and resolve incidents using observability data and tools.
Rapid experimentation and iteration: Implement a highly iterative process where you quickly prototype, test, and validate with real users, including shipping and evolving LLM- or agent-powered workflows for incident lifecycle management and automated analysis tasks.

This is a remote opportunity and we would be interested in applicants from USA time zones only at this time.

Collaborate cross-functionally: Work with data analysts, product managers, and designers to shape AI-driven product features, including integration of agentic components with internal tools, alerting systems, runbooks, and developer workflows.

The Opportunity:
We’re looking for a
Senior
Solutions Architect (Professional Services)
to join Grafana Labs’ world-class Customer Experience team. This is a highly hands-on role for technically skilled professionals who thrive on helping customers solve complex problems, accelerate adoption, and drive real business outcomes with Grafana at the center.
As a Solutions Architect, you’ll be a
trusted technical partner
—not a quota-carrying seller, but a customer-first advocate who leads with authenticity and insight. You’ll guide organizations through onboarding, implementation, and expansion by offering white-glove support, best practices, and proven strategies gathered from across our customer base.
You’ll operate with one foot in the code and the other in the customer’s world. Whether it’s understanding container orchestration in Kubernetes, fine-tuning Prometheus queries, or clarifying the nuances between logs, metrics, and traces—you’ll bring clarity and confidence to complex technical landscapes. You know the difference between "pets and cattle" and why that matters for scalable observability.
You’ll deliver high-impact training, jumpstart engagements, and offer tailored technical consulting to help customers succeed. As an embedded partner during critical phases, you’ll provide roadmap assurance, guide project execution, and ensure Grafana's capabilities align with the customer’s architecture, goals, and constraints. Along the way, you’ll identify recurring issues, monitor support needs, and advocate for product improvements in close collaboration with internal teams.
Success in this role means being a strategic thinker
and
a command-line problem solver. You’re passionate about OSS, love engaging with customers, and have the instincts to manage timelines, unblock teams, and deliver value at every stage of the engagement.
Join us and help elevate the Grafana customer experience through world-class technical delivery and meaningful impact.
What You'll Be Doing:
Effective in working with customers, including business executives, project managers, and IT development staff.
Effective in understanding business needs and distilling the information into business and technical requirements.
Comfortable working with complex business and technological requirements and translating into the design of solutions, including data visualization, workflow recommendations, migrations, and enterprise scale architecture.
Ability to act as a functional lead and able to demonstrate clear approach to methodology as well as functional capabilities. Leads functional workshops with customers, documents requirements, and designs appropriate solutions.
Speed is paramount. This team is nimble and is the fulcrum to accelerate the delivery of the solution for customers.
Be a strong advocate for adherence to standards and best practices.
Stay current on Grafana Labs, observability, and related technologies.
You'll be a key resource for our Sales, Product Management, Engineering, Support, and Professional Services teams as they look to drive innovation and improvements into future product and offering enhancements.
If you enjoy working with customers to help them succeed and thrive on working with leading-edge technologies, this is the role for you.
What Makes You a Great Fit:
Located in the Netherlands
5+ years of experience working on deployment teams, using project management techniques.
Direct experience with o11y.
Best practices for both using and deploying an o11y stack (visualization, alerting, metrics, logs, traces) - preferably with Grafana products (Grafana, Prometheus/Cortex/Enterprise Metrics, Loki/Enterprise Logs, Jaeger/Tempo).
A proven track record of successful delivery of customer projects, preferably enterprise o11y implementations for large customers
Excellent communication skills to communicate with customers, partners, and internal members.
Kubernetes (kubectl, Helm, Tanka preferred).

ABOUT DOCKER
Docker has been one of the most loved brands in developer tooling, trusted by more than 20 million monthly users and over 20 billion container image pulls. From solo founders to the world's largest companies, developers rely on Docker to build, share, and run their applications across our suite of products including Docker Desktop, Docker Hub, and Docker Scout.
We are a globally distributed, remote-first team building the tools that define how software gets built and delivered. As AI agents redefine software development, Docker is at the center of that shift, providing the sandboxed environments, verified images, and secure infrastructure that make autonomous workflows trustworthy by default.
_______________________________________________________________________
Docker’s AI Tools & Security team is building the foundation for the next generation of secure, developer-friendly AI infrastructure. Our flagship product, the MCP Gateway, empowers developers to connect, observe, and secure AI agents and tools across the entire lifecycle—from prototype to production. We’re defining how developers safely harness the power of the Model Context Protocol (MCP) in real-world environments.
We’re looking for a Principal Backend Engineer who thrives at the intersection of AI, security, and developer experience. You’ll lead the technical direction of the Gateway and related services, collaborating closely with Product, Design, and Security to deliver elegant frameworks and APIs that developers love to use. This is a high-velocity, high-ownership environment: you’ll ship fast, iterate constantly, and help shape the future of secure agent-based development.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Define the technical solution for a new product
- Help shape the product with peers in Product and Design
- Mentor other technical team members
- Be the technical point of contact for the team
- This role may require participation in an on-call rotation to provide support outside of standard business hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
REQUIRED:
- 10+ years of backend engineering experience, including extensive work on production-grade, distributed systems at scale.
- Technical leadership across multiple teams or domains, with a proven ability to drive architectural vision, set technical direction, and influence long-term product strategy.
- Exceptional product and platform mindset—you think beyond implementation details to how technology shapes developer and business outcomes.
- Expertise in designing and evolving large-scale, cloud-native systems, with deep knowledge of distributed computing, service-oriented architecture, and performance optimization.
- Demonstrated experience building secure, resilient, and high-throughput backend services, with a strong grasp of reliability engineering principles (SLOs, observability, incident response).
- Fluency in Go (preferred) or another modern systems language (Rust, Java, C++, etc.), with the ability to lead technical design reviews and mentor others in language-specific best practices.
- Strong grasp of software engineering fundamentals—CI/CD, testing strategy, source control, and deployment automation—applied in complex, multi-service environments.
- Proven track record of technical mentorship and cross-functional collaboration, enabling teams to deliver high-impact, high-quality software efficiently.
- Deep experience with major cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) and infrastructure-as-code tooling.
- Ownership mentality with a bias for action and iterative delivery, balancing short-term impact with long-term architectural health.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to clearly articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Comfortable operating autonomously in distributed, remote-first teams, and leading through influence rather than authority.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
BONUS:
- Experience with Kubernetes, Docker, and microservices architecture
- Prior experience with OpenAI, Anthropic, or similar LLM APIs, and the MCP specification
WHAT TO EXPECT
FIRST 30 DAYS:
- Meet team members
- Build context about the problem space and prior art
- Provide feedback on current exploration and propose next steps in line with Product and Design
FIRST 90 DAYS:
- Work with Product and Design on defining the product
- Attend customer calls
- Meet people across the company
- Help grow the team by participating in hiring loops
ONE YEAR OUTLOOK (FIRST YEAR):
- Bring the product to market
