and more, is seeking a talented attorney to support our product, privacy, and regulatory work.
We’re looking for a versatile lawyer who gets things done with minimum friction, makes the complex seem simple, and can provide actionable advice to help business teams launch great products for our vibrant community of users. You’ll advise product, engineering, and marketing teams to launch new products that delight our users; untangle the complex web of global regulations that apply to Automattic’s business; and protect free expression and the open web.
Responsibilities:
Advise product, engineering, and trust & safety teams on implementation of a broad assortment of regulations and industry standards, with a focus on content safety, consumer protection, intellectual property, privacy, and data security. Familiarity with laws like DSA, the UK and Australian Online Safety Acts, EU AI Act, and worldwide age-assurance laws is a major plus.
Provide product counseling on a wide array of products relating to web hosting, site creation, content publication, ecommerce, social media, and more, using a business-forward approach that puts our customers at the center of your analysis.
Provide subject matter expertise on data protection and privacy laws, such as GDPR and CCPA, advise on consent frameworks for digital marketing and advertising, and build scalable processes for documenting compliance.
Track and prepare for upcoming regulations, and participate in industry groups around the globe, representing Automattic before regulators and advocating for Automattic’s interests before government agencies and officials.
Work with trust & safety teams to develop and oversee policies championing freedom of expression and user safety while complying with applicable laws.
Design processes and workflows that enable the legal team to effectively scale compliance in a manner that meets the increase in regulatory and privacy requirements.
Requirements:
JD from a US accredited law school with 5+ years of relevant experience (or an exception EU-based attorney)
Familiarity with the industries, concepts, and business models relevant to Automattic’s products (e.g., open source, user-generated content, web hosting, social media, ecommerce, and digital advertising) and the product, privacy, and regulatory requirements that apply to them.
Humble and eager teammate who is also able to function independently and work in an asynchronous environment, with a willingness and ability to stretch into new areas like litigation or IP if needed.
Be comfortable in the grey areas, and have the ability to provide recommendations and offer clear thinking even with imperfect information.
We are hiring at either the Counsel or Senior Counsel level, and we encourage candidates across both levels to apply. Title, compensation, and the scope of independent ownership over the matters described above will reflect the experience and qualifications a candidate brings to the role.

WordPress VIP
is the world’s leading enterprise content management platform. We help the world’s largest companies—including Meta, Salesforce, and Disney—create innovative digital experiences with WordPress.
We are hiring a Director of Professional Services to run our Professional Services delivery organization. You will own the day-to-day operation of a team that handles migrations, implementations, and custom engagements for some of the most complex enterprise WordPress deployments in the world. The role reports to the VP of Customer Experience (CX) as part of the CX Senior Leadership Team.
You’re walking into a team with real delivery capability and an established customer base. The work now is sharper: a tighter service menu, faster time-to-value, a delivery model that can flex to what enterprise customers actually need—and an organization that increasingly runs on AI. Professional Services at WordPress VIP is a revenue-generating business. The person in this seat owns that commercial result, not just the delivery quality behind it.
Responsibilities
Build an agentic Professional Services organization—one where AI augments delivery, accelerates time-to-value, and creates capacity for higher-complexity work.
Build Professional Services into a growth lever: identify expansion opportunities within active engagements, and partner with Account Management and Sales to turn delivery relationships into commercial ones.
Lead a Professional Services team of engineers and delivery managers, delivering migrations, implementations, and custom engagements for enterprise customers.
Own delivery quality end-to-end: project health, escalation management, customer outcomes, and on-time, on-scope execution.
Build and maintain a clear menu of established service offerings, so Sales can sell them, customers can buy them, and the team can deliver them consistently.
Meet customers where they are. Not every engagement fits a playbook, and this role requires the judgment to scope and run custom work without losing the thread back to repeatable delivery.
Help set the strategic direction for Professional Services as part of the Customer Experience Senior Leadership Team, and translate it into an operating plan that the team can execute.
Help differentiate WordPress VIP’s services offering in the market: define what makes Professional Services at WordPress VIP distinct from what a customer could get elsewhere, and build the proof points behind it.
Partner with Sales & Accounts to scope and price engagements accurately, and own the hand-off from close to delivery.
Partner with Product, Support, and Account Management on feedback loops that continually improve WordPress VIP’s platform and services.
Represent Professional Services credibly with senior internal and external stakeholders, including customer executives, on complex or at-risk engagements.
Experience
8+ years of leadership experience in Professional Services, implementation, or technical consulting. Direct experience leading a Professional Services or delivery organization is required.
5+ years delivering services for enterprise SaaS or PaaS customers, ideally involving large-scale migrations or custom development.
Experience building a services portfolio—defining offerings, pricing them, and making them repeatable without killing the flexibility that enterprise customers need.
Experience working the full commercial loop—not just delivery, but scoping with Sales, pricing engagements, identifying expansion, and tying Professional Services outcomes to retention and revenue.
Comfortable operating in or alongside an AI-augmented delivery model. What we need is genuine fluency with how AI changes the work—not just awareness that it exists.
Demonstrated ability to engage with executive stakeholders, both internal and external.
Proven track record of performance management within a team, working closely with individual contributors, leads, and HR partners.
How you work
Operator first.
You hold the strategy in your head and still show up for the delivery details. More do than say.
Commercially accountable.
You think about Professional Services as a business, not a function. You know your revenue number, you know your margin, and you can talk about both with the same fluency you bring to delivery.
Strong, persuasive communicator.
You can scope a hard engagement, write clearly under pressure, and hold executive attention without overstating your case.
Coach, not just a manager.
You develop practitioners into delivery leads. You give direct feedback. You’ll step in when something must be done a certain way, and you know when not to.
Strategic and grounded.
You can recommend a services portfolio direction, and also tell a project manager exactly where their engagement is going wrong.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary range: $130,000 - $190,000 USD
. Please note that salary ranges are global, regardless of location, and we pay in local currency.

We are searching for high-caliber candidates with the skills and qualities to have a net positive for Automattic. Pay will reflect the potential contribution and the impact you can bring, which may, in some cases, go beyond the range stated.

The role
We’re
hiring a senior, hands-on Product Manager to join WooCommerce Payments and take ownership of a defined area within our payments products and partner integrations.
You’ll collaborate closely with the Head of Product, and work day-to-day with engineering, design, support, and partnerships. This role is deeply executional. You’ll spend much of your time in the work: in Linear writing and refining issues, triaging bugs and incidents, reviewing and shaping flows in Figma, creating lightweight prototypes, and writing briefs or PRDs when they’re needed.
Payments at WooCommerce run at a serious scale—billions in total payment volume—and the quality of this experience directly affects merchant revenue, shopper conversion, and the success of Woo’s commercial engine. This role sits right where reliability, trust, and execution matter most.
What you’ll work on
Own product direction and execution for a key part of the payments product area, with clear goals, priorities, and measurable outcomes.
Improve merchant and shopper experiences across onboarding, checkout, refunds and disputes, payouts, reporting, and overall reliability.
Raise the quality bar by reducing failures and friction, lowering support volume, and improving product ratings and merchant trust.
Use data, support signals, and merchant feedback to decide what to work on next, define success measures, and make tradeoffs explicit.
Work closely with priority payments partners (including Stripe and PayPal) to improve integrations, ship changes, manage dependencies, and resolve issues.
Keep stakeholders aligned through clear, direct writing and communication about progress, risks, and decisions.
What we’re looking for
7+ years in product roles, with senior IC experience owning complex problem spaces and influencing cross-functional teams through clarity of communication and precision of execution.
4+ years in payments or fintech, ideally on products operating at scale; experience with large or global launches is a plus.
Strong product judgment. You can make good calls in messy situations and don’t need perfect information to move forward.
Comfort working on critical, high-trust systems where reliability matters and small changes can have outsized impact.
Ability to work deeply with engineers and designers on complex problems, including technical constraints and tradeoffs.
Strong analytical habits and a practical approach to metrics, dashboards, and instrumentation.
Clear written and verbal communication in a distributed, async environment.
Familiarity with WooCommerce,
WordPress
, or open-source ecosystems is a plus.
Salary range: $170,000-$240,000 USD.
Please note that salary ranges are global, regardless of location, and we pay in local currency.

At
WooCommerce
, we’re on a mission to democratize commerce. Millions of merchants around the world build their businesses with our open-source platform, and we’re scaling how we support them.
Specifically, we’re scaling our B2B merchant acquisition efforts and are looking for a Senior Revenue Engineer to help build our Revenue Operations function largely from the ground up. This role goes beyond optimizing what exists today: it involves designing systems, processes, and data foundations that don’t yet fully exist, while ensuring they can scale thoughtfully over time.
You’ll partner closely with Sales and Customer Success leadership as a trusted operational and analytical partner, helping establish the foundations that enable clear decision-making, effective execution, and predictable growth.
This is a senior individual contributor role with significant ownership and influence. Your work will directly shape how we operate today and how we scale going forward.
What You’ll Do
First 90 days:
Build core dashboards, identify process/data gaps, establish remediation plans.
First 180 days:
Create capacity and territory models, map the full tech stack and integrations, define the attribution model.
First 12 months:
Achieve predictable forecasting (within ±10%) and establish a scalable enablement foundation.
Day to day, Week to week, Month to month
Systems & Data Foundation
Own vendor relationships, tools, and integrations (Salesforce, Gong, ChiliPiper, etc.).
Establish data quality standards, access controls, and governance practices.
Build durable dashboards and ad hoc reporting that clearly answer “where are we vs. target?”
Perform ongoing process and data gap analysis, prioritizing practical improvements while keeping long-term scalability in mind.
Evaluate and implement technology or process improvements to support revenue growth.
CS & Sales Enablement
Operationalize CS function: customer health, churn prediction, renewal workflows, escalation paths, expansion playbooks.
Create rules of engagement between Sales and CS for complex GTM.
Build enablement function infrastructure (topics/process/schedule—not training delivery).
Strategic Revenue Support
Build tracking for strategic/payment partner merchants critical to NRR.
Analyze performance trends to guide strategy: win/loss, deal cycle length, seasonality, retention, segmentation bands, and customer bands.
Create capacity planning models based on pipeline velocity and customer growth.
Territory planning, quota setting, and compensation administration.
Support pricing and packaging changes with data and tracking.
Support mid-funnel pipeline reviews and Sales/CS QBRs.
Identify and surface GTM and CS inefficiencies through data analysis.
Build merchant health scoring, expansion potential tracking, and red-to-green workflows.
Design reporting that gives executives visibility, managers clarity, and reps actionable insights—from pipeline health to forecasting accuracy.
You Might Be a Fit If
You’ve built RevOps from scratch
(6–8+ years of experience, including at least one 0→1 build or major foundation reset).
You’re deeply data-driven
, with a mindset of “if the data isn’t there, how do we get it?”
You’re comfortable speaking truth to power
, using data to surface trade-offs and inform decisions, even when conversations are uncomfortable.
AI is a strength, not a buzzword
—you can point to concrete examples of how you use it in your current role.
You’re hands-on technically
, with strong Salesforce experience (flows, integrations) and comfort working with data (e.g. SQL or Python), not just point-and-click tooling.
You know the RevOps tooling landscape
, and have good judgment about what actually works at scale.
You’re pragmatic and intentional
, balancing short-term fixes with longer-term system design.
You can partner as an equal with revenue leaders
, and communicate data-backed insights clearly to executive stakeholders.
What Good Looks Like
You can answer “where are we vs. Sales and CS targets?” quickly using trusted data.
Executives rely on ELT-ready dashboards that communicate complex business simply.
Core metrics (NRR, CAC, LTV, ASP, time to close, close rates) are clearly defined with documented data sources.
We are currently prioritizing candidates who reside in the Americas or Europe / Africa.
Salary range: $140,000-$200,000 USD.

WordPress VIP
is the world’s leading enterprise content management platform. We help the world's largest companies (including Meta, Salesforce, and Disney) create innovative digital experiences with WordPress. As one of the fastest-growing areas of Automattic, with recent FedRAMP certification, WordPress VIP (WPVIP) is expanding its reach into the public sector.
About the role:
Your style is to listen and learn from prospects, positioning WordPress VIP as the best Content Management System for public sector organizations. You don’t sit and wait for leads to come to you. Instead, you research the market, identify opportunities within specific government agencies and public sector verticals, and design a sales strategy that is both high-touch and creative, thereby helping to create the best possible positioning to develop new business for WordPress VIP.
You view government agencies and public sector organizations as critical parts of society, and you can see how WordPress VIP and Automattic can help them along their journeys. You pride yourself in establishing long-term relationships and doing what’s best for the customer. You enjoy telling stories, doing demos, giving “the pitch,” and are comfortable talking to CIOs, CTOs, and other high-level government officials.
Our Public Sector team is small and agile, requiring team members to be highly hands-on and versatile. You’ll work closely with SDRs and have full leverage of our Marketing teams to create compelling outreach and content, but you’ll also be generating your own leads alongside that. You should be ready to dive deep into the details, including writing and understanding complex paperwork and RFPs.
Responsibilities:
Drive significant revenue growth by securing new public sector clients and expanding existing government accounts.
Establish and nurture strategic relationships with high-level government officials that position our company as a critical technology partner.
Successfully manage both transactional deals and large multimillion-dollar opportunities within the constraints of government procurement processes.
Develop strategies to increase visibility and create opportunities within the public sector market.
Maintain accurate sales forecasts and pipeline information, and drive strategic improvement of forecasting processes in the public sector market.
Develop and execute innovative, public sector-specific sales strategies that accelerate market penetration in government agencies.
Actively engage in pipeline generation activities, including regular outbound prospecting to government organizations.
Enhance the product offering by providing valuable customer insights to inform our solution roadmap.
Elevate WordPress VIP’s brand and reputation in the government enterprise SaaS space through high-impact engagements.
Contribute to a high-performing sales culture by sharing best practices and mentoring team members.
Prepare and review complex government paperwork, including RFPs, ensuring compliance and competitiveness.
Requirements:
7+ years of enterprise software sales experience, preferably in SaaS or CMS-related technologies.
5+ years of SaaS sales experience selling to State and Local Government agencies.
Demonstrated ability to consistently meet or exceed sales quotas.
Strong understanding of SaaS and enterprise software and IT landscapes. Content management systems experience is a plus.
Excellent communication, presentation, and negotiation skills.
Proven experience in solutions-based selling and closing enterprise-level deals with government agencies.
Ability to establish and maintain long-term customer relationships.
Experience in managing and growing business within named accounts and verticals.
Comfortable working with executive-level government prospects, negotiating terms, and reviewing contracts within public sector constraints.
Extensive knowledge of government procurement processes, contract vehicles, and compliance requirements.
Proven ability to identify and leverage appropriate procurement vehicles to create substantial market opportunities.
Proficiency in writing, understanding, and responding to complex government paperwork and RFPs.
Strong attention to detail and ability to manage complex, lengthy sales cycles typical in government procurement.
Self-motivated with a drive to achieve revenue and growth targets, both individually and as part of the company.

WordPress doesn’t try to keep its users inside walled gardens, a rare thing in a world that is dangerously moving away from the open web. Instead, WordPress gives them the freedom to build a business website, an online store, or a personal blog – the way they like it. Big sites or small, using the community-run
open source project
or Automattic’s
WordPress.com
, vanilla or customized with hundreds of plugins, WordPress users always get to own and control their data, their expression, and their freedom.
We’re always looking for talented and experienced engineers worldwide, excited to help Automattic’s product ecosystem, and join our mission to make the web a better place.
What have we worked on recently?
AI is at the heart of many
new product developments
and powers a lot of our day-to-day development workflows.
WooCommerce
is the most popular and most flexible e-commerce platform on the web. We're working tirelessly on giving you all the control, while keeping the platform fast and stable.
Gutenberg
is a new block-level editor for WordPress with clean abstractions for users, too, not just developers.
Tumblr
is a microblogging social network where users create, share, and follow what they love.
To view more of our recent work, check out our longer product list on
Automattic.com
.
How do we work?
We’re
kind to each other
and our users – we build a positive, supportive, and inclusive culture of cohesive teams focused on building useful products for our customers.
We work as a global and distributed workforce resulting in a unique way of working built around
our creed
.
We offer flexible work arrangements allowing our team members to work when they feel best.
We open-source! We’re cool with
open-sourcing
everything except passwords, or secret keys.
We ship often,
deploying many
times daily with the help of peer code review, continuous integration, and our global workforce in over 70 countries.
We welcome collaboration, and you can be involved in any discussion across our many communication channels.
We encourage you to learn and develop and we support you with what you need – covering expenses, easy internal mobility, coaching.
Enough about us, let‘s talk more about you. Working at Automattic might be a good fit if:
You care and often obsess over the quality and the details of your work.
Debugging any problem is a fun challenge and not a chore.
Understanding the layers of abstraction below and above your work isn't something extra, but how you operate.
You have production experience with several programming languages, frameworks, and paradigms. We mostly use PHP and JavaScript at Automattic, we expect you to be comfortable with the idea of becoming an expert in these languages, even if being one isn't a requirement to apply.
In your mind abstraction is associated as much with cost as it is with value.
You have experience working at scale – it can be on the backend and performance side, or via the complexity of interacting with a multi-million diverse userbase.
Are open and able to travel 3-4 weeks per year to meet up with your teammates in person.
These are exciting times at Automattic and you’ll have a unique opportunity to shape the future of our products. Join us! We look forward to hearing from you.
Curious who works in engineering at Automattic?
Meet our Code Wranglers
– Brandon, Jeremy, Mark, Jennifer, Roy and Kat!
What to Expect:
We know applying to jobs can be stressful and we want to ease the stress by giving clear expectations upfront about our process. We’ve outlined
everything you need to know here
including all of the steps in the process as well as how we approach hiring.
Please note that we are paying extra attention to your answers to the questions in the application form. They are a significant part of the hiring process, and we will review them just like we would review any other step of the hiring process. We’re always iterating so if you happen to join us in the process, please feel free to offer feedback on what else we can include there!
Salary range: $70,000-$170,000 USD.

At
Automattic
, we have the power to create opportunities for people in every corner of the earth. We offer flexible, challenging, and rewarding careers with true impact and scale. You could be on the outskirts of a jungle, living a nomadic life out of a van, in a major city or a small town that doesn’t have a central business district—as long as you have an active Wi-Fi connection, you can be an Automattician.
We’re seeking experienced Technical Account Managers to join our
Newspack
team—individuals who combine strategic thinking with hands-on execution, thrive on complexity, and believe in the power of collaborative problem solving.
This role requires someone who can think strategically and work independently while thriving in a highly collaborative team environment. You'll balance technical problem solving with relationship management, applying broad experience across multiple areas rather than deep expertise in just one. The Newspack platform and its applications are vast and continuously evolving—there's no way any one person can hold it all in their brain, which makes our team's collaborative approach essential to success.
This is a blended role that combines migration project management with ongoing publisher support. You'll typically manage multiple concurrent migration projects while also contributing to our shared support responsibilities, helping publishers optimize their use of Newspack post-launch. This balance ensures that you stay connected to both the launch experience and the long-term publisher relationship, providing you with insight into the full publisher lifecycle.
The role requires flexibility and strong organizational skills to shift context between project work and support work—between heads-down, independent tasks and collaborative team problem solving. If you thrive on variety and can maintain momentum across different types of work, you'll find this structure engaging and rewarding.
As a Newspack Technical Account Manager, You Will:
Manage publisher migrations from alignment through launch, owning timelines and coordinating a variety of stakeholders across technical and business requirements. You’ll proactively navigate obstacles, make strategic decisions about scope and priorities, and ensure successful outcomes even when facing unexpected challenges. Your project management will strike a balance between thoroughness and momentum, keeping complex initiatives moving forward while maintaining quality and meeting deadlines.
Develop close relationships with news publishers by understanding their business goals, operational needs, and technical challenges. You’ll troubleshoot technical and editor-facing issues as they arise, help publishers leverage and optimize Newspack's features, set realistic expectations that align with our scope of support, and proactively identify opportunities to drive customer success.
Maintain a deep and current knowledge of the Newspack platform, WordPress functionality, and the news publishing landscape. You’ll provide top-notch guidance to publishers, identify product improvement opportunities based on publisher needs, surface bugs and feature requests, and collaborate with engineering to resolve issues. Your closeness to publishers will make you a valuable voice in shaping the product’s evolution.
Work independently using existing resources to solve problems efficiently, while actively engaging with the team to share learnings, contribute to discussions, and drive continuous improvement. You’ll participate in our highly collaborative team culture: sharing unique solutions, seeking input on complex challenges, and contributing to the collective knowledge that helps all of us serve publishers better. This balance between autonomy and collaboration is crucial to our work approach.
Develop and refine project management, time management, and communication systems to work more effectively and efficiently. You’ll document solutions, identify patterns across projects that could inform process improvements, and contribute insights from your work to enhance our workflows, product features, and publisher success strategies.
In this role, success means:
Meeting launch timelines while maintaining quality and managing scope effectively.
Building strong publisher relationships that lead to successful long-term partnerships.
Responding to publisher needs and providing timely, effective support.
Thinking strategically about both individual projects and broader process improvements.
Collaborating openly with the team, sharing knowledge, and continuously learning.
Maintaining product expertise and contributing insights that improve Newspack for all publishers.
About you:
Solid working knowledge of
WordPress
core functionality, common plugins, and the WordPress ecosystem. (You don’t need to be a developer, but you should be comfortable troubleshooting WordPress sites and understanding how things work under the hood.)
Background in client services, account management, or technical support, where you’ve managed relationships and solved problems directly with customers.
Demonstrated ability to manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders, competing priorities, and dependencies—proactively, not just reactively.
Comfort with technical troubleshooting, investigating root causes, and finding creative solutions within constraints.
Clear, professional written and verbal communication skills; ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical audiences and set appropriate expectations.
