Position Description As an Engineering Manager at Sonar, you will lead a squad of 8 developers to build, automate and operate software used by millions of Sonar customers worldwide. What you will do Lead and manage a team of Engineers, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to help individuals grow in autonomy and contribute to the team's success.
Responsibilities:
— Lead and manage a team of 8 engineers, providing guidance, support, and mentorship to foster autonomy and team success.
— Hold the team accountable to high engineering standards.
— Promote a culture of feedback, continuous improvement, and collaboration.
— Align feedback and collaboration with other teams to ensure smooth operations.
— Partner with product managers, designers, and team leads to develop and communicate a clear squad vision aligned with company strategy.
— Define clear objectives aligned with team, department, and company goals.
— Track sprint progress and ensure processes and ceremonies meet company expectations.
— Ensure effective collaboration with squad stakeholders including Product Managers, developer squads, Marketing, and Management.
— Collaborate with the Hiring team to recruit talented engineers and improve the hiring process.
— Oversee onboarding of new team members.
— Lead by example, modeling company values including humility and servant leadership.
Requirements:
— 8+ years of software development or equivalent experience with strong understanding of software testing.
— Developer mindset with experience in coding lifecycle, secure coding, code reviews, and ability to work with unknown codebases, languages, and frameworks.
— Advanced knowledge of the Java ecosystem.
— Good knowledge of at least one programming language and its development environment.
— Experience with Agile methodologies.
— 3+ years in leadership or management roles with proven results in building high-performing teams.
— Growth mindset and passion for developing individuals and teams.
— Strong decision-making and prioritization skills.
— Ability to make progress amid ambiguity and imperfect knowledge.
— Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
— Ability to clearly identify problems and articulate them before proposing solutions.
