Data and AI Architect

Responsibilities: — Own the platform roadmap and architecture, setting priorities and directing work across staff and engineering partners. — Design and maintain dbt models, the semantic layer, and data quality tests to ensure trusted reported numbers. — Administer PostgreSQL including performance tuning, backup, recovery, and monitoring. — Run automated, repeatable pipeline deployments using Prefect and GitHub Actions without dependence on individual machines or credentials. — Manage security and access controls, data protection, encryption, and credential management. — Chair the Data Governance Committee, collaborating with system owners and data stewards to maintain definitions, standards, and data quality. — Design and operate secure AI integrations and guide AI-native applications and automations from prototype to production. — Perform other responsibilities as assigned by management. Requirements: — At least 5+ years of experience in data engineering, database administration, data architecture, or similar roles. — Strong SQL skills and hands-on PostgreSQL database administration including performance tuning, backup, and recovery. — Experience with modern data stack tools such as dbt and orchestration tools like Prefect or Airflow. — Working knowledge of Azure or similar cloud platforms including networking and identity. — Proficiency in Python for building and maintaining pipelines and automation. — Experience building automated deployment pipelines using GitHub Actions or equivalents. — Hands-on experience with AI and LLM tools including AI coding assistants or LLM integrations. — Practical experience with role-based access control, encryption, and credential management. — Ability to lead cross-functional teams and communicate technical decisions to non-technical audiences. Preferred Skills: — Experience with Claude Code or Model Context Protocol (MCP) servers. — Experience with containerized deployments. — Familiarity with data models from Salesforce, ServiceNow, Paylocity, or Sage Intacct. — Experience leading data governance and background in managed services or IT services.
