In This Role, You'll Get to: Own and evolve the architecture of ACP: the orchestrator, per-host agent, and CLI that manage dedicated-resource virtual machines on bare metal, including compute placement, image management, and network recovery.

Team and Role:
The Compute Platform team manages the infrastructure of bare metal and virtual machines that support all Agoda products. This includes over one million cores across Kubernetes clusters, OpenStack VMs, and bare metal servers globally. The team develops ACP (Agoda Compute Platform), an in-house orchestration stack for dedicated-resource VMs on bare metal, along with fleet lifecycle tooling and automation.
Responsibilities:
— Own and evolve the architecture of ACP, including orchestrator, per-host agent, and CLI managing dedicated-resource VMs on bare metal.
— Design, build, and operate compute and fleet tooling in Go and Python, interfacing with Kubernetes, OpenStack, and hardware management APIs.
— Lead medium to large projects across Fleet, Compute Platform, and adjacent teams from design to operation.
— Participate actively in System Design Reviews within and across teams.
— Use and promote agentic coding tools (e.g., Claude Code) in design, implementation, testing, and review.
— Troubleshoot product and system issues at scale across global data centers.
— Interview and mentor engineers, raising hiring standards.
— Define and use metrics for ACP reliability, operational load, and delivery quality to guide development.
— Collaborate with Software Development, Infrastructure Management, and other teams to gather requirements and design scalable, resilient services.
— Write technical documentation and provide training for ACP operation and extension.
Requirements:
— 10+ years of software engineering experience with strong hands-on background in infrastructure or compute systems (bare metal, virtualization, Kubernetes, OpenStack).
— Strong distributed systems development skills in Go; Python is advantageous.
— Proven experience owning and evolving distributed systems such as control planes, orchestrators, or agents in production.
— Experience with virtualization and bare-metal provisioning at scale.
— Practical experience using Kubernetes in production (workloads, APIs, cluster behavior).
— Comfortable using agentic coding tools in daily development.
— Strong understanding of observability for distributed systems: monitoring, alerting, logging, visualization at scale.
— Track record of leading medium to large technical projects and driving architectural decisions.
— Experience working across team boundaries and understanding adjacent systems.
— Clear written and verbal English skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
— Hands-on experience with Kubernetes controllers, operators, and CRDs.
— Experience contributing to or maintaining open-source Kubernetes Operators/Controllers.
— Experience with configuration management and automation tools, preferably Ansible and/or AWX.
— Experience with out-of-band hardware management APIs (iLO, DRAC) and building resilient, highly available physical architectures.
— Experience with CI/CD and GitOps infrastructure delivery approaches.
— Experience working in large, distributed engineering organizations with many stakeholders.
Location and Work Format:
— Hybrid work format based in Bangkok, Thailand, with relocation support.
