Opportunity:
The role is for a Group Product Manager to lead the Intelligent Acceptance product suite, aiming to increase merchant profit by improving acceptance rates and reducing payment costs using fraud risk to optimize payments. The role involves shaping AI- and ML-powered products for smarter optimization decisions across the payment lifecycle, including acceptance, routing, recovery, and cost.
Responsibilities:
— Set and communicate a multi-year vision for merchant payment optimization.
— Create a shared strategy, roadmap, and product principles for the portfolio.
— Balance acceptance, payment cost, and fraud risk at payment and merchant levels.
— Identify optimization opportunities based on merchant needs and strategic fit.
— Define measurement of incremental merchant value and build experimentation into product development.
— Own product economics including investment cases, adoption strategy, packaging, and pricing.
— Collaborate with Commercial, Finance, Product Marketing, and Customer Success.
— Co-own Data Science roadmap and outcome metrics, ensuring product and data science alignment.
— Lead and develop Product Managers, create clear ownership and goals.
— Build an effective operating model with Engineering, Data Science, Analytics, and Design.
— Align teams and stakeholders around priorities and investment choices.
Success Metrics:
— Unite the portfolio behind one vision, metric framework, and roadmap.
— Deliver measurable improvements in acceptance and payment cost with fraud guardrails.
— Establish a strong joint operating model across Product, Engineering, and Data Science.
— Develop a path toward merchant-configurable optimization.
— Build a high-performing Product Manager team with clear accountability.
Requirements:
— Deep experience in payment optimization, acquiring, authorization performance, routing, and payment economics.
— Proven track record in setting strategy and delivering outcomes across multiple products or teams.
— Experience leading and developing Product Managers.
— Ability to clarify complex, ambiguous problems.
— Strong quantitative judgment using experimentation, measurement, and financial analysis.
— Credibility with Engineering and Data Science teams on decisioning or optimization products.
— Commercial judgment connecting technical capabilities to merchant value and business outcomes.
— Clear communication with merchants, teams, and executives.
Preferred but not required:
— Experience with ML-driven decisioning, routing, or personalization products at scale.
— Knowledge of fraud scoring, risk controls, and trade-offs between fraud exposure and payment performance.
— Experience with causal inference, multi-armed bandits, or adaptive optimization.
— Familiarity with card-network economics, interchange, scheme fees, retries, and stored-credential payments.
— Experience shaping packaging, pricing, or value-based commercial models for technical products.
Work Conditions:
— Based in Amsterdam or London.
— Hybrid working model with three days per week in the office.
— Reports to Senior Director, Product.
— Works across Product, Technology, Data, and Commercial within the Payment Performance pillar.
