Position Summary: The Software Deployment Engineer I/II is an individual contributor responsible for end-to-end delivery, configuration, installation, and support of Kommand warehouse execution/control systems and related material handling hardware such as pick-to-light, overhead illuminators, AutoStore, and T-sort integrations. The role includes project-level system configuration, commissioning, installation, upgrades, and live troubleshooting independently across on-site and remote/office phases. This role consolidates hardware installation and commissioning functions previously done by a dedicated Systems Integration & Commissioning team. Key Responsibilities: On-Site Delivery: — Lead software commissioning of Kommand and peripheral hardware systems at customer sites as primary technical owner. — Full-scope installation of pick-to-light and overhead illuminator systems including wiring, physical installation, configuration, and functional testing. — Conduct Installation Qualification (IQ) and User Acceptance Testing (UAT) with formal documentation and customer sign-off. — Sole owner of Kommand and system-level troubleshooting for live production issues during on-site engagements. Remote / Office Delivery: — Independently deliver new Kommand installations including application pre-configuration, database scripting, and pre-deployment testing. — Deliver Kommand version upgrades including SSDT schema comparisons, version control, local pre-install testing, and customer coordination. — Perform production upgrade execution after business hours to minimize downtime. — Work on DEV, QA, and Sandbox environments during business hours. — Validate, diagnose, and remediate defects, escalating rarely. — Participate in on-call rotation covering Kommand, AutoStore, and T-sort system escalations. — Provide post-go-live support including system migrations, integration testing with ERP/WMS platforms (e.g., SAP/WMS), and multi-site rollout support. Project Configuration & Deployment: — Gather Kommand configurations and system parameters for projects. — Translate Business Requirements Document and customer conversations into system settings, network spreadsheets, and parameters. — Educate clients on host interface use. — Configure Kommand sandbox and production environments for customer testing and go-live. — Assist with training on new features. Scope & Independence: — Sole owner of critical workstreams including new installations, upgrades, and live troubleshooting. — Requires judgment and technical depth to manage customer-facing delivery, testing, and sign-off without dedicated support. Requirements: — Experience commissioning warehouse execution/control software and hardware peripherals. — Working knowledge of SQL Server environments including SSDT schema comparison and version control. — Experience with formal software testing methodologies (IQ/UAT) including documentation and customer sign-off. — Ability to diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve live production issues under time pressure. — Comfort or willingness to perform hands-on installation work for pick-to-light and overhead illumination systems. — Willingness to work after hours and participate in on-call rotation. — Ability to translate business requirements into structured system configuration. — Strong customer-facing communication skills. Preferred Qualifications: — Experience with AutoStore and/or T-sort systems. — Experience with ERP/WMS integration testing (e.g., SAP). — Background in material handling, warehouse automation, or industrial controls.
